[ It had worked once before, back in the heat of late summer in Asgard, so Jade was trying it again. She had dragged the sign out to the front of the store, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and written in huge letters:

free hot chocolate! :D
just come inside ♥

The temperature hadn't broken the sixty degree mark today - it was getting chilly fast. Both Orihime and Annabeth were gone, and the store was oddly quiet. Jade will be found keeping herself busy throughout the day with odd little chores when it's completely empty of customers - sweeping, dusting, and occasionally dozing in a booth near the door when the boredom becomes too much to bear. ]

[ She cracks up a little bit, shrugging once. ] I know you wouldn't. Buuuut how about you get me a card and we'll call it even? I kind of like those better than presents.

Drink your hot chocolate, and don't be late to work tomorrow. Orihime's gone, we can't slack.

Wait, what do you mean 'gone'? Like, vacation gone or gone back home gone?

Um... back home. She's not on the contact list anymore.

So... you're running this place all by yourself?

Why don't you, um, maybe look at getting Ryan to co-own it with you.

Jade, if you had it your way you'd just give away food to everyone.

Yeah, and it all comes out of my pay, I'm not gonna let the restaurant suffer because of me. I pay my half of the rent with the shrine blessing I get.

There are little shrines in the yards out in front of the god houses. You can get favors from them.

I don't want any favors from them, unless it's to let us all go home.

Well, they're not mandatory. That's just how I afford things.

What in the world am I going to do with a lot of money saved up at the bank here?

Use it for if anything happens to the place? Or if you want to decorate all weird for the holidays. Like... Christmas trees and snow and presents and holiday stuff. It's called planning for emergencies, Jade.

Every other day is an emergency here. There's no point in saving money that's not going to do you any good! It makes me a lot happier to know that I am making people happy than to know I have a big bank account for the future here that I don't have.

What about if you want to throw a big party? Like... a Christmas party? You'll need money for that. And for gifts. And a tree. And lights.
