[ It had worked once before, back in the heat of late summer in Asgard, so Jade was trying it again. She had dragged the sign out to the front of the store, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and written in huge letters:

free hot chocolate! :D
just come inside ♥

The temperature hadn't broken the sixty degree mark today - it was getting chilly fast. Both Orihime and Annabeth were gone, and the store was oddly quiet. Jade will be found keeping herself busy throughout the day with odd little chores when it's completely empty of customers - sweeping, dusting, and occasionally dozing in a booth near the door when the boredom becomes too much to bear. ]

[Harry looks at her inquisitively.]

Why is that?

[ She matches it with a similarly inquisitive look. ]

Why which?

Why are you happy to see me? Of course I'd come, even if I'm worried for your business.

Because... you're my friend...?

[ She seems... really confused. ]

Right? That's a thing, isn't it?

Yeah ... you just make it sound like I wouldn't be here for some reason.

[Harry's confused by that, more than anything.]

[nukeoleptic]

Well, I didn't mean to sound that way. I just meant-- two of my friends just went back to their own worlds. It's nice to see you.

[ She seems similarly confused. ]

Oh, I didn't realize.

[He seems to understand now.]

I'm sorry that they left.

[nukeoleptic]

[ She shakes her head quickly, as if trying to dismiss his 'sorry.' ]

No no no, it's okay. Not a lot of people actually want to stay here. It's better for them if they go home, right?

It is, but does that make it any easier to say good-bye?

[Harry doesn't think it is, and he thinks this is a place where someone is allowed to be a little selfish.]

[nukeoleptic]

[ She swallows a little thickly at that, surprised. ]

... no, not really. Not at all, actually. It makes it harder, I think.

I thought so. Because you know they should be at home, but you'll still miss them.

[Harry doesn't add that it's likely that she'll never see them again on top of it.]

[nukeoleptic]

[ Jade half smiles at that, nodding. ]

... I still want to try to find your world, someday. I'm really not just being a lovesick idiot, honest. But it sounds nice.

[livedtwice]

I—[He struggles for words for a moment.] I can't say if it's nice or not yet, honestly. We have a lot of rebuilding ahead of us.

[nukeoleptic]

[ Jade ducks her head and laughs before she can help herself -- apparently that's hysterically funny to her. ]

What a coincidence!! So do we.

Er, Jade?

[On Harry's part, he doesn't find that funny in the least.

Which is probably because his perspective is mostly very different. After all, his world didn't actually end.]

No, no, sorry. We had to literally build a new world! Sort of. It was just - phrasing. Sorry.

[ Oops. He wasn't laughing. She looks a little abashed. ]
