[Open!]

Who: Connor and all y'all
What: Downtime and recovering between A Friend in Need and Wife Swap
When: Day 390 ~ 393
Where: Various places
Rating: PGish? Brief mentions of death. Also booze. Will adjust as needed.

Gefion Park - 390 - 393
[He died. The fact that he died is not, of itself, the most disturbing part, though he'll never forget the feeling and sound of it. No, the most disturbing part is the fact that he woke up after, in the same place as when he first arrived, all his gear intact and with no sign of any injury to his person beyond the vague kind of soreness that usually comes with sleeping too long. He shakes his limbs out and heads into the city; the trains from Alfheim aren't back just yet, so there are fewer Travelers than he would otherwise see, but the city is still full of people. It's just that most of them are varying shades of gray right now.

He could go the Bureau, but he's not sure he wants to be near the Assassins just yet, even if he didn't tell anyone outright that he was leaving. In that case, it's off to Gefion Park, where he spends quite a bit of time over the next few days, alternating between perching in trees and sitting down below and carving little wooden boats for children to play with.]

Needle in a Haystack - 392
[Okay. He's officially moving into this place.

He'll be back and forth between the Assassin Bureau and Hel's Welcome Hall all day. Not that he has a lot to move, only a few articles of clothing and a handful of books, but it still requires 3 or 4 trips to get everything there in one piece. (It would have gone faster, but he neglected to get any boxes--which is why he keeps almost dropping books. Then again, when was the last time you tried climbing a building with a box of books in hand? Don't.)

Up in the Bureau, he's chosen a secluded room, as far away from any others as possible, and set up a pile of the blankets in a corner. Other Assassins passing through may see him resting in one of the main areas or staring vaguely upwards.]

Out and about, seriously pick a location - 393
[Just because there was a major battle in Alfheim doesn't mean things at home don't need doing, too. Connor's been roped into helping with the shop whether or not he wants to, so he's out and about around the city, picking up orders, dropping things off, running (or, well, leisurely walking) messages to their destinations. At one point he stops to help an older woman with her groceries because that's the kind of boy scout he is. It's good, actually. Helps keep him busy and his mind off of things.

You know what'd be better at keeping his mind off of things, though? Alcohol.]

[Were. While he nodded, at the mention of his prior knowledge on Connor's name, he ever so slightly frowned at the past tense used in regards to himself. True, if Connor was from the future he would be only a 'were' but... ]

During a time come to be known as the Italian Renaissance, si. I do try to continue that work now that I am here... as much as is possible with the war and curses.

[The child now by the pond knelt down to set his boat into the water, taking what ever foul expression had been on Leonardo's face and turning it back into a smile.]

Do you often do things like this, craft toys for the local children?

[Ohh... how innocent. He was so new to the place he had not heard of the curses! Leonardo's eyes softened as he regarded Connor with sympathy. How long would it be until he experienced one for himself?]

They are random events, some times used for punishment. I have seen a friend transformed into a demon-fox creature, several others sent back to a time when they were much younger, and I have experienced the worse fears of several people during a period of time when you could become trapped in nightmares. They can be very difficult to deal with. I hope you manage to avoid them for as long as you can.

[He would be entirely disappointed in the answer. ]

No. I am afraid there is no way to avoid them at all. They strike without warning and often...

[SPLASH
The loud disturbance in the water instantly drew Leonardo's attention away from the conversation and back to the pond where the small child struggled in the cold water, splashing desperately to find a way back to the shore.
