Rose likes her spark, and smiles at the confident statement. "Yeah, 'spose we will. Good to see someone being positive about it." Not that she's been one hundred percent cheerful about the experience - or even fifty percent, if she's honest. She's telling the truth, though. Mirabelle has an outlook she admires.

"One never gets anywhere in life without confidence, especially where battle is involved." She would know, after all - she'd been able to frighten off many a ruffian with nothing more than a fiery glower and a few well-placed jabs of her parasol. But Maribelle also knew that it would take much, much more than simple confidence to get through this - and she was fully intending to have skill in spades by the time all hell broke loose.

"'S the only thing you need sometimes. I've got a friend who always says that if you act like you belong, no one will question otherwise." She smiles, thinking fondly for a moment. "'Course, I suppose it's a bit different when you're talking about battle."

When it comes to battle, he wouldn't have much positive to say. And neither would Rose, really. She can take care of herself and she's good in a tough spot, but she doesn't think very highly of fighting.

It sounded like this friend of Rose's knew what they were talking about. Maribelle had confidence and poise in spades, and it had gotten her through many a difficult situation, from her loneliness at court (until Lissa came along, that is) to the war with Plegia. "It is," she replied, "but not by much. One who lacks surety in battle is not likely to last very long." It was tragic, but that was just the way things were, she supposed - even if it broke her heart that things had to be that way.
