[Four raises an eyebrow, at that. As conversational turns go, it's a pretty strange one. Not that their conversations don't have a tendency to take a turn for the strange under normal circumstances, but he can honestly say that he hadn't expected that.]

Oh, I'm not certain that things would go that far, if they weren't alright.

Well, it is, isn't it? I mean, I'm not sure why it would be on fire, but not being so is much better than anything else. Better for the books as well, come to think of it.

[Eleven's raised eyebrow, meanwhile, is noted even if Four doesn't return it yet again. It's odd, sure, but no odder than anything else thus far has been and surely not worth too much consideration]

It would be, or would have been, on fire or otherwise destroyed because there is a war going on. It being intact is the best I can ask for.

Only if it's the kind of war where people do that sort of thing. Or I suppose if the fire giants decided to attack the city, but I'm fairly certain we'd know ahead of time, if that were the case. And even then there'd be no guarantee that they'd come here.

[There's a chance, yes. But that isn't quite the same as a guarantee that it'd be on fire, by his way of looking at things.]

Worst case scenario. Might as well have that to compare too. Then you can be glad it's not that way.

There is that, yes. And to hope that things never quite get that bad.

[It's a small thing, maybe, hoping that a single place stays the same but sometimes that's exactly the sort of thing that's needed. A smaller hope to make it so that the bigger hopes are easier, when they're needed. If they're needed.]
