Breaking the Ice (WIDE OPEN)

Who: Anyone Sick of a gigantic Ice-cicle on our front porch who wants to hep out!
What: Removing the Corrupted Ice
When: d513 and onward
Where: The Viscinity of the Gate of Fire and surrounding areas
Rating: Keep it PG

Meta-Post for all those assisting in breaking up the ice who would like to post logs to that effect. A reminder for you that Here is the OOC Post. The basic rundown of events is that while Baldr and Loki tag-team to assist in purifying the corruption to weaken the ice enough to destroy it, the travelers will be using a combination of ingenuity, well-protected muscle, technology and powers to

a) Keep the ice from going everywhere.
b) Heal workers who get magical frostbite.
c) Melt, explode, break up and destroy the ice, carting any left over out of the city.

This process begins throughout 513, and you may all assume you're cordially invited if you want to help out. I'll leave some general prompts for participants. Remember the following hazards:

Hazards:
-The Ice has not weakened. It's not stronger, and it hasn't grown, but it's just as hazardous as it was to start. Touch it, and you get frostbite that has to be healed magically, and the healing leaves you with regular frostbite to handle the old fashioned way.
-The above matters because part of this plan involves blowing this massive thing of ice to pieces. Yes, you're planning to build big bulwarks and walls, but there's always a risk of some getting on a few of you... or a lot.
-After this is done, clean-up crews will have to scour the streets and search for pieces just in case. ---Once it's all out, the Engineers can focus on rebuilding the Gate of Fire.

We can use the cart to put the shattered ice in, afterwards.

[Assuming they don't mind having to cart away the ice before they take another blast at the ice, but he knows he doesn't, at the least and it means having somewhere for the ice to go afterwards.]

Proper gloves and similar materials to collect, but yes. Carts will assist. Very well, however, here is the fuse that you will require. The next step we can take once we are ready.
allpurposescarf: (if I'm very clever...)

Oh, I think I should be good with this.

[He indicates his scarf before he takes the fuse. It's true that a scarf isn't necessarily the same as a pair of gloves, but he doesn't see any reason that it wouldn't be suitable.]

Do you think you could find a spare cart while I get this set up?

Give me a few minutes. If I cannot find one, I will draw one up. Stamina aiding draughts have to have some sort of value after all. Send a signal when you are ready.

Of course.

[And with that, he turns to first checking to see if there's any difference between the drawn fuse and one that would have been made naturally. Only once he's satisfied himself that there aren't any differences does he set about getting things all properly wired up and getting the explosive set into place.

It takes a bit more than a few minutes before he's ready, but once he is, he sends a quick message to Equius' bracelet to say that he's done.]

[He's on his way back as the message comes. The cart he's managed to find will suit their purposes at this stage. Others have been erecting barriers throughout, so this is just one more for them to be closer to enable the blast. Tipping it to its side, Equius slipped behind it and called out.]

I am unaccustomed to such defensive postures, you realize.

Oh, they aren't so bad, when you get used to them!

[True, ice is a foe that's a good deal less mobile than most of the ones he's had to hide from, but it's still not anything that's out of the ordinary.

Once the cart is set up, he finishes up one last check before he makes his way over to behind the cart; only when he's safely behind it does he set off the explosive.

(It's a very satisfying sort of explosion, too, even despite the ice fragments it leaves behind as a result.]

[Thankfully, the defenses are largely successful in keeping the ice away from them. Equius slowly got up after the blast and looked the damage over, nodding in satisfaction.]

I suppose they are not, but right now I am simply pleased to see the first blasting is working exceptionally well.

Progress.
allpurposescarf: (insufferably smug)

[personal profile] allpurposescarf 2014-10-25 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Very much progress, yes! Of course, we'll have to pick things up before we can get around to trying the next round, but that shouldn't be too hard.

[First, however, is putting the cart back upright, and it's only once the cart is resting on it's wheels again that he sets about fetching the first of the chunks of ice.

He's still not using anything like gloves, but he's managed to wrap his hands loosely in the ends of his scarf and for now, it seems to be working well enough.]

Excellent. Protect your digits in the process. I think that I will check in with some of the others and make certain that we have steps in progress throughout. If you require me for another blasting line, give me a message?
allpurposescarf: (well there might be something to it)

[personal profile] allpurposescarf 2014-10-31 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. And by all means, feel free to check in with other people.

[He's not going to be able to manage to clear the entire wall of ice by himself, after all. No matter how much he might almost want to. Instead, he turns back to the matter of the shards of ice, being ever careful to make sure he's not letting his skin make contact, as he carries them to the cart.]
