What: After this network post was made, three days passed indeed. There will be lots of chess playing and the general cute stuff that happens when a girl named Hanako is involved.
When: Day 80, from morning to late afternoon.

Rating: PG, just to be safe.
Note(s): It's not only about the chess itself, and you don't need to have commented to the network post if you want to play/chat with her. You could be a passer by and spot her, or watch the game as a third party, or just enjoy drinking tea with her. Anything goes!

[When Hisao went to pick Nashi up for the daily jogging session, Hanako took a shower, dressed herself casually, and prepared herself psychologically for what's to come shortly later.

And there she is, sitting by a round table in the garden, with her precious and finely carved chess set laying in front of her. The pieces are still inside, waiting to be used. She knows that people might have preferences with either black or white, so she's going to wait before setting them on the board.

She even thought of bringing a tray with a teapot, sugar, milk, and a small pile of beakers. If the guests will be more than one, it wouldn't be convenient to bring tea cups and wash them in-between encounters. She hopes they like black tea. And she also hopes they like those chocolate chip cookies that she's put on a plate next to the tea, as well.

It looks like she's trying to do her best to make her opponents feel comfortable.

So while she waits, you can find her leaning back on her chair, fingers entangled together nervously on her lap as she looks down at the chessboard. Are you the one who accepted her challenge? Are you just passing by? Whoever you are, come on and talk to her~]

Hm.

[She merely nods, then quickly pulls out the pieces to place on the board, in an automatic motion. She must have done this for a long time, remembering the position of each piece without a second thought.]

Kind of... I just memorize things faster when they're easier to understand. It's normal.

[In no time, all pieces are set on the board.]

[She nods, starting first with her white pawn.] ... I have to admit I feel honored to play with you, Beatrice-san.

Well, if you provide me a challenge, I shall feel honored as well.

[hey, she's going to make a move herself!]

[First moves are quicker and easy, so have another one.]

Well, I hope so... choosing the right strategy depending on the opponent is my favourite part of the game.

[She nods politely at that! And their moves go back and forth for a little while, with Hanako trying an aggressive strategy for the time being- although sometimes she holds back to defend the King.]

[Beato's strategy is... well... totally inscrutable. In a chess game, where logic rules, one would logically try to make the best moves possible. And for the most part, she does that. But occasionally, she pulls a move that's so random, so out of left field, that it just makes no sense]

[Hanako notices that, and tries to mask her confusion. She wonders if that wasn't just a mocking move, or just a mistake, but the more they played, the more times Beato pulled out that kind of thing, and- Hanako just doesn't understand. As she starts collecting black pieces from the field, she still won't let her guard down. This kind of strategy from the woman is suspicious.]

[if you can call it a strategy - it's more pure arrogance. But that's how someone who doesn't care if they win or lose plays. And she really doesn't - the important thing is that playing is fun and keeps her busy]

[She will never understand that. :|a Excuse her as she's taking another piece from you. This would be so easy if she wasn't suspecting that this was some kind of trap.]

[it probably wasn't, but she does start springing some pretty vicious moves with her bishop and rook]

[Hanako's King is currently protected by her two Rooks. She's got three pawns left, and one of either her bishops and knights were taken. Her Queen instead is into the battle, capturing everything in sight - that is, if Hanako didn't spot a trap in that action. She's a very careful girl, and would be aggressive only if the chance was presented- which is not happening this round.]

[Beato's using a combination of her bishop, her rook, and occasionally her queen. She gets kind of vicious with all three of them from time to time, interspersed with moves that practically give Hanako pieces. Or maybe she's just sloppy.

[At one point she finds an opening, that lets her claim both of Beato's Knights. Not without a price, though, since her last Knight is gone too, along with two of her three pawns. The battle turns more intense as now her next target is to use both her Queen and Bishop to invade the opponent side in order to find a perfect spot and claim check on the witch.]

[Beato is still just one step out of check every time, though. She's basically leading Hanako on a merry chase without much thought to securing a check for herself. Although the longer they keep going at this, the more likely it is that Beato might lead her around to her side of the board someway]

[They're just going to spend several moves on a chase, then! Hanako will add one of the Rooks to the mix, then. Back and forth through the board, this could be funny if Hanako wasn't serious face'ing the whole time.]

[troll game is full of trolls trolling trolls - this is fun! She'll just keep doing it, although they're kind of whittling each other down now]

[Trollers gonna troll - cue the Benny Hill music sequence.

At this point, she kind of grows tired of it and tries to put a strike on her queen- by moving her own Queen as a bait.]

[She'll throw her last bishop out there to take the bait - no way is she sacrificing her queen. But that bishop is the last thing she has that's not either a queen, a king, or a pawn]

[That didn't work as she hoped, but at least she claims yet another important piece. Now it's only a matter of setting a trap for that Queen, but for now she'll get on protecting her own King. While threatening with the Rook and Bishop.]

[and while she's putting on a merry chase with the Rook and Bishop, at some point she maneuvers a pawn back to the back row on Hanako's side. And for that, she takes back a Knight, just because they move in that ridiculous pattern]

[Well, damn. The Knight is out of reach for, but the other Rook could make a work of it. She places it at an angle where it could capture Beato's knight again if she made a wrong move. Oh no are they gonna chase again? :|a]
