[When Hisao went to pick Nashi up for the daily jogging session, Hanako took a shower, dressed herself casually, and prepared herself psychologically for what's to come shortly later.

And there she is, sitting by a round table in the garden, with her precious and finely carved chess set laying in front of her. The pieces are still inside, waiting to be used. She knows that people might have preferences with either black or white, so she's going to wait before setting them on the board.

She even thought of bringing a tray with a teapot, sugar, milk, and a small pile of beakers. If the guests will be more than one, it wouldn't be convenient to bring tea cups and wash them in-between encounters. She hopes they like black tea. And she also hopes they like those chocolate chip cookies that she's put on a plate next to the tea, as well.

It looks like she's trying to do her best to make her opponents feel comfortable.

So while she waits, you can find her leaning back on her chair, fingers entangled together nervously on her lap as she looks down at the chessboard. Are you the one who accepted her challenge? Are you just passing by? Whoever you are, come on and talk to her~]

Sure! I'd love some.

I suppose it isn't. And you can help yourself with it.

[She pauses shortly.] ... Have you ever played chess?

Nope! I don't think I ever have.

[ she reaches over, taking the things she needs and preparing herself some tea as she speaks. ]

Why? Do you want to play?

Oh, not necessarily. I am here because I invited people to play with me today. But it's not a mandatory thing for those who never played.

Well... even if I've never played before, I wouldn't mind learning! Would it be really hard to teach me?

Well, I never taught openly before... I could try.

[ she takes a moment to consider this, humming softly as she does. ]

[She nods politely, setting the pieces up on the board.]

[ she waits patiently for the set-up to be over, observing what Hanako does to get everything in working order. while she waits, though, something kind of dawns on her, so she decides she'll poke at the subject a bit. ]

Hey, can I ask you a question?

[Hanako's eyes go up when she's done with the board.]

Have we... maybe met somewhere before? It might sound silly, but your voice is really familiar.

[ she smiles sheepishly. ]

[She tries to remember... yes, maybe she heard that voice before.]

Well, I haven't been here long! It shouldn't be hard to figure out when it could've been...

[ and so she begins racking her brain! ]

Maybe we met when I first got here?

Ah, yes... oh, wait. You're... Dawn-san? I'm sorry, my memory faltered on me.

[Yes finally recognizing her!]

[ she nods as she speaks. she still doesn't recognize Hanako, since she never got to see her before, but this is a start! ]

I'm Hanako... I don't think you've seen me before, right?

[Getting a little self-conscious of her appearance now, excuse her as she tries to brush her hair a bit, to hide certain spots on her face.]

[ she's all smiles, apparently unaware of Hanako's self-consciousness. ]

You know, now that we're outside, I can show you if you want.

[Hanako looks over to the garden.]

[ and then she stands up and pulls her poké ball out in what is probably the flashiest way possible and releases giratina. ]
