[When Hisao went to pick Nashi up for the daily jogging session, Hanako took a shower, dressed herself casually, and prepared herself psychologically for what's to come shortly later.

And there she is, sitting by a round table in the garden, with her precious and finely carved chess set laying in front of her. The pieces are still inside, waiting to be used. She knows that people might have preferences with either black or white, so she's going to wait before setting them on the board.

She even thought of bringing a tray with a teapot, sugar, milk, and a small pile of beakers. If the guests will be more than one, it wouldn't be convenient to bring tea cups and wash them in-between encounters. She hopes they like black tea. And she also hopes they like those chocolate chip cookies that she's put on a plate next to the tea, as well.

It looks like she's trying to do her best to make her opponents feel comfortable.

So while she waits, you can find her leaning back on her chair, fingers entangled together nervously on her lap as she looks down at the chessboard. Are you the one who accepted her challenge? Are you just passing by? Whoever you are, come on and talk to her~]

Ah yes, we could... you're black and I'm white. [ Looking down at the board, she makes sure every piece is at its place.

Then, she puts a pawn forward. ] Since I'm white, I get to start the game.

All right... there!

[she takes a bit to survey the board before putting one of her own pawns forward! LEGIT CHESS GAME IS LEGIT.]

[ Aaaaand another pawn forward. LEGIT CHESS PLAYING. ]

[AW DANG CHIE'S GONNA MOVE ONE OF HER KNIGHTS, GO LITTLE HORSEY GO!!]

And then she summons the bishop and out goes one of your pawns! >:D ]

and Chie is genuinely surprised as that happens! SHE WASN'T PAYING CLOSE ENOUGH ATTENTION TO HANAKO'S SIDE OF THE BOARD...]

Ah- am I being too aggressive?

No, no! I mean, c'mon, that's the point of chess, right?

[she quickly scans the board and just... decides to move another pawn. IT'S OKAY. SHE'S GOT THIS. no she doesn't]

[ That does make her feel a little bad, though, because she'll back off and use another pawn of her own. :c ]

Hey, don't go easy on me now! I won't learn if you do.

[let's get a bishop onto the front lines! she doesn't take any pieces, but she's setting it up to take one of her pawns next turn.]

[ ... welp, that sets the bishop on the range of Hanako's Knight, though, soooo... yep, grabbing that. Sorry! ]

[oh goddamn it TOTALLY DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE EITHER. okay, okay, regroup! IT'LL BE OKAY. after about a second of deliberation (yeah she doesn't think too hard), she nudges one of her own knights along, getting closer to Hanako's side of the board.]

[ And Hanako will make a careful move then, deciding to use her other bishop to threaten Chie's pawns a little bit. ]

[SCREW PAWNS, CHIE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEM. she's moving her other knight to the front lines now, completely forgetting about strategy in preference of raw strength.]

Hanako will just... take it on with her Queen because derp not holding back. Sorry again. ]

Bringing out the big game now, huh?

[SHE SENDS HER OTHER BISHOP OUT TO... take a pawn. well, that's kind of anticlimactic.]
