[Day: You survived. That was... horrifying. And you don't think you've ever been so happy to see the sun rise the next morning. Things are worse for wear, and you need to get more supplies just in case something else comes.

But wait- halfway through the day, and suddenly the sun is gone? Where did it go, and how is it night so early?

Night: Careful. The terrors of last night are back, and now are even in more of a frenzy than before. More crazed, more dangerous, and wanting to destroy everything they come across. Hope you can keep your eyes open.]

[Oh goddamnit here we go again- he really didn't need this. Alan is on the prowl and more on the offensive now, since people have a general idea to stay in the light when darkness hits.]

[Castiel is not one of those people. To be fair, he does know that he should be in the light, but he's using a different tactic; he looms in the darkness and surprises taken instead, then dispatches them with a combination of a maglite and his sword. It's been working relatively well, though he wishes he hadn't lost his gun when he'd been killed the night before.

He recognizes Alan from his post the night before, which he'd only had a chance to actually check at daybreak, and he doesn't want to startle him into shooting at him. So he calls out from the shadows first.]

I am not taken. Don't shoot me.

[He's already been shot once in the past few days and that's more than enough for forever.]

[For an instant, Alan whirls, reflexes very sharp for a man who suffers from insomnia. But that could just be because of his paranoia. When Castiel speaks fully, he lowers both the gun and the light.

Somewhat. Moreso the gun than the light.]

You shouldn't be in the shadows, the Taken pretty much can get to you easy if you do that. It's what the Dark Presence wants.

[He steps out fully from the shadows once Alan lowers his gun a bit, silver sword in one hand and a mini-maglite in the other. He's pale and clearly tired, but otherwise pretty much unharmed despite that his jacket has a distinct bullethole in it and is streaked with blood.]

[He'll remember that, and has apparently been lucky. Unfortunate though that the tactic might not be safe to use, as it's been pretty successful so far. Oh well; he'll figure something else out.]
