Who: Vanitas and YOU!
What: A late onset (or singling out) of a de-aging curse. Vanitas will be his newly created self for the next few, in-game days, and will have no memory of his previous life.
When: Day 128.
Where: Hel and later Gefion Park.
Rating: G or PG, probably no more than that.



[Scenario One: Morning in Hel. There's a kid decked out in the weirdest spiderman costume ever, complete with helmet, prowling around the lower hallways. He looks like he could be lost, and when he spots the nearest inhabitant (lucky you if you happen to be just stumbling out of your room from sleep), expect to be accosted with questions.

"Who are you, and where am I?"]

[Scenario Two: Sometime after lunch, the masked boy has managed to wander out to Gefion Park. His attention's been caught by some geese... or actually, accosted, after he'd accidentally walked over their nesting site by the pond. And they seem to be intent on driving him as far away as possible by flapping their wings and nipping at his back as he tries to escape. Little help?]

[He lowers his head a little, and behind his mask there's a definite frown.]

What if I don't have the ability to choose?

No matter who they are or where they come from, everyone's got a choice. You chose to hurt people--so you need to deal with those consequences.

[His voice is rising, a little angry now.] I dunno what I've done to you, but if I hurt you, it was for a reason.

Yeah, because you found it fun you jerk! [ Roxas' rises a little too, but he still looks a bit wary ]

Me, Ven, Nakama... I bet it's a ball in the park for you.

[Fun? He's not sure if it's fun for him... when he attacked Ventus, he was acting out of rage. Of disgust. It didn't feel good.

...Is that what he'd become? Or was this guy reading too much into the situation?]

No. It's... complicated. But it's not 'fun'.

[faints]

Like anyone would believe that with the way you act! You laugh the whole time. I don't know what kind of game you think you're playing right now but knock it off. I mean it--and if you had anything to do with Nakama disappearing I'll take you down myself this time.

[Roxas' words cut through him, but somehow with everything else he's said, he's not surprised. If the life he has ahead of him is what he's surmised, then...

His Master got exactly what he wanted. He really is a monster.

His body feels ice-cold and hot at the same time, and all he can do is turn away.]

I don't know who that is.

[faints]

Stop lying...! I'm serious Vanitas, if you hurt her... [ He takes his first step forward since he's realized who the masked person is, anger and worry for her urging him on ]

I'm not. Lying. If you had half a brain in your head, you'd listen to what I'm saying now. I don't know any of you except Ventus!

[faints]

No, anyone with a brain wouldn't believe two words out of your mouth! [ SO THERE 8T ]

[Omg Roxas. Who's the 11 year old here, and who's supposed to be almost an adult?]

Whatever. I've told you everything I know. So are we done, yet?

[In response, he just makes a frustrated sound.]

You're gonna accuse me of lying no matter what I say. So what's the point??

If you want people to believe you then you've gotta let them trust you--and that's something you gotta earn by doing small things, a little bit at a time. So...this is one of those chances.

Be honest. Did you do anything to Nakama?

[showmeanguish]

[As aggravating as it is to be asked the same question over, Vanitas shakes his head with a frown.]

No.

[faints]

You swear? [ It's...strange. He really doesn't want to believe anything that comes out of Vanitas' mouth, but it's really starting to seem like something's off here. There hasn't been a single snide remark nor any burst of anger. He just seems honestly...frustrated.

There's no way he could be actually telling the truth about all of this, right? ]

[showmeanguish]

[A slow breath, and a nod as he lets it out. Roxas really is trying his patience, but he doesn't want to start a fight with him. Not if he can avoid it.]

Is the interrogation over, yet?

[faints]

...What happened to you?

[showmeanguish]

Guess that's a 'no'.

[But, he does reach up and takes his helmet between his hands, lifting it off to reveal his face.]

Do I look different, to you?

[faints]

[ He's about to ask what Vanitas means--but then he gets it, and for a second it sort of floors him, because he's been seeing that face in his dreams for months now. Sora's face--not the current Sora, but the young one on the island. That's not the face he's ever seen on vanitas before ]

--Your face...

[showmeanguish]

[He stares at him, still the somewhat creepy and unblinking way he usually does. But his eyes also aren't as calculating, or secretive. They're just hard.]

A little younger than you remember, huh? That's what everyone keeps saying.

[faints]

But...how?? [ It's still creepy and unsettles him a little, but at least without that usual dark edge to the stare he doesn't feel as much like a mouse before a snake ]

If I knew the answer to that, I wouldn't be having this conversation.

[He shrugs, and looks down at his helmet with a slight frown.] So far, no one's given me a good explanation, other than I'm stuck here.

You mean you just...got here? You just arrived?
