[ after her brief and cryptic message to Hope, Hilda had already started to make her way to Gefion Park. the "thing" that she was to give him is cradled in her arms, nestled into a warm blanket. keeping it out here in the cold probably wasn't a good idea after all... it needed proper incubation, but the blanket would be a good substitute until the tradeoff.

she arrives at the entrance of the park, opting to sit on one of the benches to wait for her friend. he should be here any minute now! ]

[Hope is very, very confused! what in the world did Hilda want? he doesn't have any problem hanging out with friends, especially with one as close as Hilda, and he'd really appreciate the company after the weeks he's lost due to becoming a native... but he can't help but wonder what she has planned.

it doesn't take him too long to arrive at the park, his head slightly tilted as he approaches the bench and sees the blanket in her arms...]

Hil...da?

Hey!

[ the smile on her face gets larger when she sees Hope approaching. she stands to meet him, the object still wrapped in the blanket. ]

I have a little present for you.

A present?

[yeah okay, curiosity is definitely getting the best of him now.]

What... what is it?

[adventurous]

[ she smiles brighter as she pulls away a bit of the blanket, revealing a light blue egg with a seashell on the front. it seems to be quite still, but if you look closely, it may move ever so slightly. ]

It's a Pokémon egg. Touya and I found it yesterday.

[WOW THAT'S CUTE... not that he'd say that (or consciously think it) but holy crap that is definitely the most adorable egg he's ever seen.]

An... egg? [it slowly dawns on him...] You're giving it to me to take care of?

[adventurous]

[ she nods. ] I wanted to give it to someone that I knew would take good care of it, and you were the first one that came to mind. When this little guy hatches, you'll have your very own partner!

That is... If you want to take it, I mean. [ oops... she shouldn't assume. ]

O-of course! Thank you so much. I just... [he shuffles a little, rubbing the back of his neck.] If I... have any trouble with it, you can help me, right? I've never really taken care of anything like this before.

Well duh! All of us Trainers can lend a hand if you need it. I wasn't just gonna saddle you with a baby Pokémon and take off, you know!

[ Hope, u so silly. but now she's fixing the egg's blanket and holding it out to him. ]

Just make sure to keep it warm and walk around with it. I'm sure it'll hatch happy and healthy in a few months!

A-all right... thank you, Hilda. [he takes the egg for her and wraps his arms around it... gosh this is weird.] Oh, uh... what Pokémon is it supposed to be?

[ she lets him take it with a smile. he looks a little nervous... but happy. is that what she looked like when she got her first Pokémon? that felt like forever ago. ]

Judging by the shell pattern, I'd say it'll be an Oshawott. I had one as my first Pokémon, too.

Oshawott? [with what Hilda says, and what he's learned about Pokémon, he starts to come up with an idea...] Is what your Samurott evolved from?

[adventurous]

That's right! [ she smiles brighter; seeing that he knows about evolution makes her feel proud. ] The Oshawott evolution chain has three Pokémon in it - Oshawott, Dewott and Samurott.

I don't know if yours will be able to evolve since it can't battle properly here... but we can try our best.

Which one, evolve or battle?

[ hm... maybe she shouldn't have assumed he'd want to battle right off the bat. ]

Nope! It all depends on how you wanna raise it and the personality it has when it hatches. If you want to, keeping it as just a pet is a-okay.

Well... I wouldn't want to just think of it as a pet. You said Pokémon are more than that, right? They're like partners. If I have one... I want to think of mine as that, too.

[he's learned so much, Hilda!!]
