[Welcome to the city of Asgard. Now that you've woken up and been given your welcome instructions (as per the FAQ), what will you do? There are a good number of other new arrivals being shown to the gates, and for today the plaza that surrounds the castle is open for mingling. You could also head to your Welcome Hall (details here) and meet your Housemates if you'd like. Whatever you decide to do, have fun getting settled into your new home!]

If I may ask, what House is that? -- I am in House Heimdall, if the serving spirit is correct.

[He really can't bring himself to just call them servants. He doesn't want to be identified with them. There's a much longer hesitation before he continues.]

I can't offer a guess as to the power the gods hold over fairies. I myself am merely a human.

_{[She frowns slightly.]}

The Gods work in mysterious ways...

[He frowns in response. It's another unfamiliar name; and if even a supernatural being is saying something like that...?]

... Are these gods known to you, Your Majesty?

... They are not, no.

They are not the gods of my world, either.

[He doesn't know what to make of this. If they have brought him here to punish him -- why are the gods so completely unfamiliar that even the fairies don't know of them? And if they haven't brought him here to punish him, what good would an ignorant servant accomplish?

... And why is this young Queen here?]

--I don't understand. [His tone is even, but it's a mark of how frustrated and confused he is that he expresses it to her at all. Suddenly:] If I may, Your Majesty -- your letter and my letter. I wish to see if their messages are the same.

[There's a strange urgency in his voice. He doesn't know -- no, he knows why he needs to check. And he knows why her calmness is bothering him.]

Huh? You wish to see my letter?

_{[Mercedes is a little confused, but she hands over her letter to Allen after a short pause.]} Here it is. Do you believe they could be different somehow?

[He pulls his own out of a pocket, carefully folded, and scans them side-by-side -- his face tightens as he does so, until it's almost a grimace. After a long moment, he offers Mercedes back her letter.]

I had... I don't know. [He lets out his breath in a sigh, and his shoulders slump. Nevertheless, he looks directly at her a moment later.] 'In order to preserve this world and the one from whence you came', milady. How does that sound to you?

They wish for us to restore life to this world, do they not? But I don't... I'm not sure what they mean by the second half. I am not quite sure if there is anywhere for me to return to, myself; fairies return to the earth when they die, and my forest is gone.

[Allen has a specific place in mind himself, but her question gives him pause; he looks up sharply, letter all but forgotten for the moment.]

You... are not alive?

I do not understand it, myself... I fought a very hard battle against the Inferno King... and I recall returning my true name to the heavens, yet I am still standing, and my wounds have vanished.

[In spite of everything, he still hesitates, eyes falling to his feet. After a long moment--]

This could be an afterlife, then.

[The words come out jerky, because he doesn't want to say them. At the same time, it's what he's been wondering all along. It looks like he can't shake this possibility, after all.

--That still, however, doesn't explain why she's here. In the same place as he is. Awaiting judgment, perhaps, by gods neither of them know -- and why is that?]

An afterlife...?

_{[Mercedes' thoughts wander a bit again, as she thinks about it. She's never heard of there being an afterlife, let one a fairy being sent to one. At the same time, did that mean...]}

'Tis possible... I wonder, then...

_{[Is Ingway here as well?]}

[Her trailing off makes him look up, finally; he can't help but prompt:]

What is it?

There is someone I'm hoping to see again.

Someone...

[... in the afterlife? He carefully doesn't ask the question, but most of all he realizes: If this is the afterlife, then those who have gone before him might be here. Michaela might be here, and--

And his entire body goes cold when he tries to take that train of thought further. He closes his eyes tightly for a moment, counts to 10 to calm himself.

Even if this isn't where he should be; even if the presence of this fairy Queen here might confirm that -- he never thought he would be comforted by what he is, but it's all he can hold on to for now.

His voice doesn't shake when he speaks again.]

--May I ask for the details, Your Majesty? I may be able to help look.

_{[She nods.]}

The person I'm looking for... he's a human- a prince- named Ingway. He's helped me out a great deal with handling being a Queen... and he promised we'd meet again.

[Well, now he kind of has to ask.]

And... this person will be here with us?

[Allen does try to ask it as delicately as possible, though. This person does seem to be quite important to her. Of course, he can also soften it with more questions, since they too are necessary.]

I will also need to know what he looks like.
