[Eight has been in a black mood since they returned from Utgard, and is spending time to himself in the greyer parts of the city. This day, he is sitting at an outdoor table of some little establishment, plucking lightly at the violin in his lap to tune it and staring out at the vague, grey forms of the natives as they pass.

And then the woman passes, and he blinks in surprise at the sudden flash of brilliant color and a distinct lack of blurriness. Another Traveler, and one that looked new from the 'Where the hell am I?' determination with which she is walking down the street.

He calls to her with as light a tone as he can manage.]

You're new, aren't you?

[ The interruption gets her to stop for long enough to find the source of the words, and when she sees the man standing there she raises a hand in casual greeting. ]

Not...the first time I've heard that today, y'know. What gives me away? Sign on my back or something like that?

[ She's in surprisingly good spirits given how incredibly off the reserve her day has become, and even offers a light smile as she tips her head down into a small nod. ]

Are you a veteran then?

[Well, sitting actually. He settles the violin in it's case on the small table and rises to approach her.]

It was the stride of irritated determination to find out what in the world is going on that we all tend to have when we arrive.

[He returns her smile, though perhaps with a bit of a sad coloring to it.]

A veteran? Oh, in many ways, I'm afraid, but no. I've only been here a few weeks, myself. Long enough to know a few people, though, if you're looking for anyone in particular?

Ah, that'll do it.

[ The smile is...unsettling. A little heartbreaking, definitely, Amy doesn't like to see anyone sad, but it's more than that. It's just odd, like she's seen it before.

...That's stupid though, so she just shrugs off the momentary thought in favour of answering the questions instead. ]

Just two people really. My husband, Rory. About this tall [ complete with a gesture of course ] light brown hair, apologetic to a fault. And...

[ She pauses, and her own smile fades a bit as she thinks for a moment, then gestures around her vaguely as she continues. ] And there's a man, too. Tall, skinny, stupid bow tie, calls himself The Doctor?

[Eight tilts his head slightly and his expression completely changes to a bright smile and a look of total recognition.]

Oh, yes! I thought they'd mentioned Rory having a wife. You must be Amy. My guess is that he's somewhere around the Hospital in Sigyn district, or the flat he shares with the other me and a few fellow companions.

[There's a glint of amusement in his eyes as he lets that bit of information sink in before he gives her the big one.]

As for the other me, I never know where he wanders off to. Probably pestering Rory or one of our other selves, or getting into mischief with Jamie or Theta. Or...he could be spending time with River.

Probably best you find Rory first before bothering to find Eleven.

[ See, at first she's relieved because someone a) knows who Rory is and b) knows where to find him, which c) means that he's here and d) means that the Doctor probably is too. These are all really good things, and enough that she doesn't quite make the connection with the companions comment. Raises an eyebrow, but the dots just don't quite connect yet.

It's pretty hard to miss 'other me' though, and her eyebrows just shoot up in surprise. The Doctor hadn't ever really detailed the whole regeneration process to her, after all. When she was a kid though, way back on that fateful first meeting, he'd gone on and on about his 'new face'.

So this is what he meant? ]

You're...the Doctor. As in - TARDIS, Sonic, all that. You're him, but...younger?

[ Got to be younger, or he'd have known who she was, even if he doesn't look it. ]
