Equius, would you please just shut up for a minute? (Closed)

Equius was not one to give up lightly. He'd agreed to a playdate with his moirail after that entire fiasco with the croakbeasts and their mother glubbing blather, and by glob he was going on a playdate. He stood impatiently in the front hall of their shared house and proceeded to holler. Then he remembered. That's right. He couldn't speak.

This solicited a growl and rumble in his throat that produced no sound. That, in turn produced another soundless snarl, which led to a wordless roar, which led to a lamp being shattered and him having to draw a new one on a napkin before Nepeta came down.

He snorted a bit like a horse and nodded, getting down on a knee with that same bemused growl on his face. Someone wanted a horsey ride, and he thought the ceilings of the place would be tall enough to accomodate them Why not?

Nepeta blinks as he gets down to one knee in front of her, unsure of his intentions. She'd only meant for the horse plushie to give the kitty plushie a ride! But as soon as she realizes that Equius thinks she wants a ride too a smile lights up her face and she flings her arms around his neck in thanks. Then she climbs up onto him, a plushie resting on each of his shoulders.

Hey, kitty-troll horsey rides are even better than plushie rides. Let's be honest here. As soon as she caught on, she'd find herself gallavanting towards the haunted house, the only real pause being that he had to duck to get her inside without problems.

This much is true, she has to agree! Kitty-troll horsey rides are amongst the best things ever, right up there with kittens and yarn and sweet tea. Perhaps even better. She goes wheeee as he trots off with her, though of course not a sound can be heard, but he'll definitely be able to feel her wriggling about with excitement as they enter the haunted house.

He actually had a pretty good guess what her face looked like once they were on their way. A duck, and they were in the foyer. Like any good haunted house, it was something of a one-track thing, but still having actual ghosts did add to the spooky side, ne?

Yes, it certainly did! Though it would most likely take more than that to impress Nepeta. The plushies do an impatient dance on Equius' shoulders, a sure sign that his moirail is ready to see more and be properly scared.

By which she probably means sending off some ghosts crying.

Yeah, since these aren't the really crazy ghosts from before, there would likely be terrorizing or at least confusing several specters. As they got deeper into the haunted house, the first one of the ghosts just stared at him, though its partner yelped in fright at a snarl and fled suddenly. How very disappointing.

Though fun in a way.

This could quite possibly be because of all the scary faces Nepeta is making at them from her vantage point on Equius' shoulders. It probably also doesn't help that she's using the plushies to make monster shadows on the wall every chance she gets.

Between the two of them, confusion, irritation and fear abounded amongst the haunted house. He paused after a while to stare at the skeleton of one of the humans, rising on strings and pointed, actually laughing silently. Who would be terrified of bones?

Certainly not a troll! Nepeta is half-wondering if perhaps she could take them home for Pounce to play with - but she doubts Aurthour would appreciate the mess. Still, she's less than impressed with this haunted house, and signals him to hit the exit. Perhaps they can try one of the rides next.

He's out the door reasonably quickly. It wasn't bad... but it was obviously intended for humans. There was something just up ahead called a 'cyclotron' that looked at least a little promising.

Especially given the fact that neither of them had actually eaten anything today. That was definitely a plus.

Nepeta has a stomach of iron in any case. She'd have to, with the kinds of things she used to sometimes eat back home! She nods enthusiastically when she sees where he's heading, then remembers he can't see her where she's perched on his back and therefore pets his head instead. An appropriate gesture of approval, she thinks.

Equius, too, had plenty of the stomach for the sort of ride that they're looking at. This, at least, would be interesting as he didn't have the strength he used to, which would have made the whole ride quite moot.

Of course, once in line she'd have to get down, now wouldn't she?

Would she? If she did then no one appears to have informed her of this, because she remains quite happily on his back, making the two plushies play together on the top of his head. It seems a good way to while away the time as they wait.

The barker looks about ready to say something when the massive mountain of muscle glowered in his direction. A silent bristling and rippling of his lips made it clear that, yes. She was permitted to ride his back at least until they got to the line.

The ride itself? Oh, that was much more fun on her own, but she could get the spot next to him!

Nepeta feels Equius bristling beneath her, but when she realizes the cause she just grins and gives him a pat to say thank you. As soon as it's their turn she scrambles into her seat, waiting for him to take the place next to her as she bubbles over with excitement. Surely this ride will be better than everything else so far, right?

he barely fit into the seat. The bar managed to get in place slowly but surely, but it groaned. Unfortunately, it was all mass and muscle getting in the way, so it wasn't as easy to tweak around. Still, they were locked in place and soon the thing started to move. It was slow at first, which made him raise his eyebrow and glance at her curiously.

It was actually a rather good thing that Equius very obviously only just fit into his seat. It would prevent any scenes from Nepeta if she took it into her head that she wanted to sit in his lap, safety be damned. When he looks at her he'll find her leaning forward in her seat, brow furrowed as though she's trying to speed up the ride by sheer force of will.

Oh, it's speeding up slowly but surely. The damnable thing is taking its time. Inevitably, however, the centripetal forces are starting to get more impressive. Eventually, it's going to reach speeds where Equius almost seems to notice, not so much in terms of nerves but just the faint exhiliration of the wind pushing past them.

The ride? It's almost acceptable. Pity he cannot roar and scare the natives from here.

The only thing keeping Nepeta from waving her arms above her head as they zip along is her need to keep the plushies safe, but it's obvious that she's having fun. A silent "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" is being not!screamed into the air, and she makes up her mind to come back and do this again when she can yell out properly.

Yes. They would almost certainly be doing this when they could scream properly. The irony of that considering the issue of the Gentlemen was almost palpable. Equius himself, by now, was actually enjoying the faint adrenaline rush. At least it was at a decent speed now.

The ride is over far too soon, and once it finally coasts to a stop Nepeta turns beseeching eyes onto her moirail. She wants to do that again! They can have another go, right?

He nodded as soon as looked and then also pointed towards another ride down the way. First a finger to this and then that. No reason why they should only do this ride after all, but first seconds!

Nepeta nods very enthusiastically. Yes, first they'll go on this again, and then on another one, and another one, and another one! They'll go on all the rides! She beams and laughs silently, and it's a good thing she's fastened into her seat because she'd probably vibrate herself right out of it in her excitement otherwise.

Right this minute, he is so glad that Thor hadn't picked her up. For all her obsessions with ships and romance, she did sometimes handle things in a very physical way. Her with speed or strength right now would have destroyed the poor little ride. Nevertheless, when it got back down, right up onto his shoulders she went again.

The rides would serve as a good distraction for a while at least.
