[ It had worked once before, back in the heat of late summer in Asgard, so Jade was trying it again. She had dragged the sign out to the front of the store, right in the middle of the sidewalk, and written in huge letters:

free hot chocolate! :D
just come inside ♥

The temperature hadn't broken the sixty degree mark today - it was getting chilly fast. Both Orihime and Annabeth were gone, and the store was oddly quiet. Jade will be found keeping herself busy throughout the day with odd little chores when it's completely empty of customers - sweeping, dusting, and occasionally dozing in a booth near the door when the boredom becomes too much to bear. ]

So what's your favorite kind of dessert?

Cake is good. For a long time I never really got to try any desserts at all, so I guess you could say I'm a bit of a novice, really. It'd be hard to say.

[Give her a second to sip at her chocolate contemplatively.]

I guess I've always had a soft spot for hot chocolate, because it was one of the first sweet things I ever got to have here. Does that count?

I suppose it could, if you make it very nicely.

Are you really a dessert novice? Hmmmmm...we might need to change that.

Mm. Before coming to Asgard, the sweetest thing I'd ever really had was fruit. I liked it a lot, but... it wasn't exactly cake.

[...! Smilingly,] Have I gotten myself in trouble?

Oh, no! Not at all. It's just - sort of like a new adventure for you! There's nothing to be in trouble about.

Oh, good. I was worried for a second.

[No she wasn't. This is obvious from her smile.]

Yes... it is quite an adventure. Everything sort of is, here. [-- Ah.] Do you have any suggestions for what I should try on my adventure?

Well, cake immediately comes to mind. And then some different kinds of cookies perhaps...jellos and puddings, things like that. Not all at one time, but every once in a while you could try something different, you know? And if you like chocolate, a lot of those things are chocolate flavored. Except jello.

I can see why. What little I've tried of it has been delicious. [...!] There's no such thing as chocolate flavored jello? [She's not sure how to feel about this.] Why not?

Probably because chocolate pudding is similar enough, if it's chilled for a while. But jello - gelatin, really - is usually translucent and can easily be shaped and cut. Pudding tends to revert into a kind of glop after a while.

Huh. [She considers this for a moment.] ... What if I want something that's translucent AND chocolate? What if I want-- something like that shaped like a bunny?

Well...

[She can't think of a single chocolate thing that was ever translucent, except for very thin layers of it. Jane ponders this for a moment.]

The shape is easy enough. You'd need some sort of mold, depending on how you had to prepare what was going in it.

Okay. That's good to know, but-- what about the translucence?

[This is an interesting conundrum!] Do you think maybe there's something out there in one of the worlds like that?

The translucence I'm not really sure about! But there could be something like that from another world, yes. And we can always experiment - though I'd have to warn you, sometimes the experiments don't turn out very tasty.

Oh, that's alright. That's the point of an experiment, isn't it? You're not sure of the outcome, even if you know what you hope it will be. It sounds like it could be fun...!

[Even if the word 'experiment' makes her think of a certain part of her life.]

[Noooo no no Namine this is a fun experiment. With chocolate. And giggling, most likely.]

Would you like to give it a go sometime?

[She knows! She takes comfort in that fact, giggling especially.]

Why, Jane, I'd be delighted. [Hee.] If you're game then I am, too, even if I'm not sure I'd be much help.

Help or not, we'd both be learning and that is quite alright. [Not to mention Namine has a lot to learn!]

I'm glad you feel that way. I'll try not to be a burden. Whatever we do I'm sure it'll at least be an adventure.

You will most certainly not be a burden, and it will definitely be an adventure! Don't you worry about it.

Okay, then. I promise I'll do my best not to worry. I suppose even if things go terribly wrong that'd just be part of the fun, too.

Mmhm! It seems like a good idea. Hopefully we won't catch anything on fire - but if we do, at least we won't be in any danger of not having anyone who can patch us up. [Being healers, and all that.]

Hoo hoo! Yes, we should be okay on that front! I'll keep a pail of water nearby, just in case.

[And you know, not balancing on top of any doors.]

Good idea. ... Maybe we ought to do it close to a sink, too. Just in case one bucket isn't enough.

[Also maybe as far away from any trolls as possible because that'd just make things awkward.]
