Progress through the ice blockade will be slow and narrow, as they can't possibly hope to clear the entirety of the forest that has been buried under Thiazi's black ice. Now that they know the source of her magic's corruption, it might not come as a great surprise when cracking open the ice unleashes a strange burst of magic.

At the halfway point between Utgard and Asgard, a pulse of energy will move through the entire city, immediately putting every mortal it touches to sleep. This part of the curse is mandatory and your character must fall asleep; the dream effects of it are not mandatory, and can be played with at your discretion. During this first wave, Travellers will be granted a brief dream - that does not belong to them. They will see, from the dreamer's point of view, every hope and goal and aspiration that the dreamer wishes to complete before the end of days. Whether it's simply confessing their love to an old friend or saving their home planet or perfecting an Asgardian pie, your character will see someone else's ideal resolution before Ragnarok. Upon waking, the Travellers will be plagued with the indistinct whispering of several voices overlapping one another and a slight headache. Both symptoms will gradually increase over time until it reaches incapacitating pain and nausea. The only way to assuage the symptoms is to find the owner of the dream and either maintain physical contact for an hour or discuss the subject of the dream until a full confession has been made. After that, the symptoms will fade and the Travellers will be free to carry on with their day.

There will be other pulses of magic at random throughout the day; these are not mandatory and you can feel free to have your character experience as many or as few dreams as you wish. All dream-sharing will cease by the end of the day, as the blockade progresses past that centre-point of magic.

[At that, Maribelle's heart aches, and she has to blink back tears.]

[Oh no she hadn't meant to make her cry, she thought it would be nice to talk about it. After all the dream had been really warm and happy. Looking down at the tea, Yuiko pulled her legs up onto the couch a little.]

It seemed like you were working really hard, but everyone was really happy and smiling and getting along.

[damselled]

[Maribelle has to close her eyes to stop tears from falling, but she smiles nonetheless.]

Oh, goodness me. That sounds... positively lovely, dear.

It was. Is that what your home is like?

[Sipping at the tea, she would give Maribelle a chance to talk about if she wanted to but Yuiko didn't want to keep bringing it up if she didn't want to.]

Why, yes, it is. It's also quite beautiful, and we have been working to make it a realm of peace.

[It hasn't been an easy thing to do, after the war, but she's never been afraid of hard work."

Is that what you plan on doing when you get home too? You had a lot of friends, ah and there was one person that seemed to be really important.

[Yuiko blushed a little remembering the feelings from the dream and how it had reminded her of Ritsuka.]

Yes, it is. I wish to reform my country's laws so that they treat everyone equally, regardless of class.

And what of you, Yuiko? What is it you wish to do, once this is over?

[Yuiko took a moment to think, well there a few things that she had missed.]

Well I'd really want to go with mom and dad to pick strawberries because usually we would have went by now, but I don't think there are any here. And I'd go to class again so I could catch up on everything and get to see everyone again like Yayoi-kun and out teacher.

I still have a long way to go, but I kind of want to work with kids like in a preschool or something. I think it would be a lot of fun.

I'd kind of want to help Ritsuka-kun with whatever's bothering him too, and get to spend more time together again. He's been really busy so we haven't spoken hardly at all lately but at home we would speak almost everyday and he would walk most of the way home with me from class.

[Maribelle listened, smiling as she did so.]

That sounds lovely. I do hope you are able to accomplish that. Nothing can be more noble than the act of helping others.

... Ritsuka-kun? [Now, where had she heard that name before? Had it been Seimei?]

[Yuiko nods.] Ritsuka-kun is a friend from home, we're in the same class and he's really nice. He keeps some of our other classmates from causing problems, he kind of acts like an adult at times. But Ritsuka-kun always sticks up for me and encourages me to do my best, oh and he's super smart and looks really cool though he's kind of short.

[She'll blush a bit again before taking another sip of the tea.]

Would this, perhaps, be the same Ritsuka who has an older brother by the name of Seimei?

[She had only met Seimei a few times, and he had struck her as distant, but polite.]

Well, it sounds as though you are quite taken with him.

[Yuiko nods, the mention of Seimei kind of causes her ears to fold back a little but she still smiles a bit.]

I'm glad that Seimei-san is able to be here with him. From the first day that I met Ritsuka-kun I thought he was cool and I wanted to be his friend. I would do anything for Ritsuka-kun, but I don't know what to do.

[Looking down at the cup, she seemed kind of thinking.]

He supports me, he protects me. I'd do anything for Ritsuka-kun. I'd even die for him.

[But she had been told that Ritsuka didn't feel that way about her, that he found her kind of annoying. That was why she had been working so hard, so that she wouldn't think about it.]

[damselled]

[Maribelle naturally doesn't get the nuances of expression via cat ear, and so doesn't really notice the gesture.]

I do believe you might very well be in love with him, Yuiko.

[She smiles.]

But I very much think that this Ritsuka would not wish you to die for him. In fact, I'm certain that it would cause him no small amount of distress. Therefore, perhaps it would be best if you lived, rather than died; I'm sure he'd much prefer you that way.

[At the mention of Love Yuiko will blush extremely deep and spill her tea a bit. She couldn't even call Ritsuka by his first name, how was she supposed to confess something like to him, but then she couldn't really deny the way she felt about, and Maribelle would know wouldn't she. But was what she felt really what love was, how were you supposed to know.]

I'd. . . Ritsuka-kun wouldn't. . . I-is that what it's really like?

[damselled]

[She laughs, then, softly, and smiles at Yuiko. Really, she's grown to be quite fond of the other girl.]

It is. And from what I've seen, it's wonderful. [She says that simply, with no hesitation or jealousy - should she fall in love, she will do so. And if she doesn't, she's just as happy with her work.]

[Using the sleeve of her pjs she tries to clean up a little of the spill setting the cup down but still blushing extremely deep.]

How do I know if Ritsuka-kun is alright with it though, or if he feels the same way?

[Because she thought about and he was already really nice, and he seemed to like the gifts that she had made for her. But then he was distant at times too and didn't tel her things too.]

You don't, I'm afraid.

[Her voice is gentle, and her tone is both encouraging and sincere.]

But one never knows until one tries, does one not? Besides, even if he does not return your feelings, you will at least have been honest with him. Love is always a risk, darling. It does not mean that it is one that is anything less than wholly worth taking.

But what if you think they already like someone else? Would you still tell them?

[Because all this was complicated and no one had ever told Yuiko much about how to deal with relationship stuff and she couldn't really ask her mom since they were in Asgard.]

That does complicate things. In that case, I would recommend prudence. If you love someone, that means you wish for their happiness more than you might wish for yours. As long as he's happy, are you?

[Of course, that didn't mean letting anyone walk all over her - but she could get into the nuances of it later.]

[Yuiko nods her head.]

As long as Ritsuka-kun is happy I would be alright. I'd support Ritsuka-kun no matter what since he's done the same for me. If I could I'd grant all of his wishes.

[It would hurt though, a lot if that happened.]

Nevertheless, dear, you mustn't put your own life and wishes aside. It's alright to seek your own happiness, even if it isn't with Ritsuka.

[Because really, Yuiko's a sweet girl, and she wants her to be happy.]

I still know what I want to do, so I won't lose sight of it. I'm going to grow up and be a really nice teacher like our teacher at school. Though I want to work with smaller kids like in pre-school rather than middle.

I think you would make a wonderful teacher, as long as you set your mind to it.

[Goodness, would she have such patience? Likely not.]
