Something needs to be done.
He draws in a deep breath and lets it out shakily. And then he does it again, his exhale a little less rattled, to calm his nerves before he speaks.]
We need to do something.
no subject
There doesn't seem much to be done but trying to help those who are being attacked, or have been hurt.
[And he draws himself up a bit more, then stepped toward Sam.]
That includes you, as of now.
[He kind of sliced a hole in your shoulder, bro.]
no subject
[It's said distractedly, as he stares at the floor, not really paying attention to what Castiel was doing or saying save for the bare bones of the statement.]
no subject
[Castiel informs him, pushing away memories of being stabbed himself as he says it, drawing close enough that he could reach out and touch Sam. But he hesitates, just for the moment.]
no subject
I think I probably deserve it.
[With a slightly forced smile, as he gently pushes Castiel's hand away.]
Save your energy for something more important. It's just a cut.
no subject
Alright.
[He agrees, finally. He begins to lead the way out of the room, then.]
We should see if we're needed.
no subject
How many people have died?
no subject
[He's not sure if Sam is asking in general, in the city, or in their group.]
Myself, Daphne, you, and Mary have all died that I know of among us. Nakama did over a video feed.
[He'd been dead at the time himself, but he'd seen it later upon checking the network.]
no subject
But we're all on the same page now?
no subject
I believe so.
[Everyone's back, and no one's Taken, as far as he knows. It's daytime too, so maybe this is all over.
He's quiet a moment before speaking again.]
Do you have your weapons?
no subject
[Surprisingly, he adds silently to himself, letting his hand slide away from Castiel's shoulder with a slight frown.
The questions cause something in his brain to jog and Sam shoves aside his guilt and anger to focus on the facts. He needs to do something. He needs to be useful. He can fall apart later -- for now, he's a hunter, and the city needs him to act like one.]
What's causing all of this in the first place? Is it another attack from Utgard?
no subject
[He snaps it a little, tiredly, and immediately feels bad for it. But he's confused and just as in the dark as everyone else, no pun intended, and he doesn't want to be leading or the source of information at the moment. He's shaken and exhausted and stuck in this pathetic mortal body and he should be better than this right now.]
no subject
But something inside Sam's stomach twists at the thought of going into the darkness by himself, because he was obviously affected by whatever happened. It had picked him and he had been unable to fight it off. If Sam is prone to being possessed by these things, then he can't be by himself. He's a liability.
So he stops walking, but he catches Castiel by the arm to stop the angel too, his tone quiet.]
If night falls and whatever possessed me takes me again, then I'm going to hurt a lot more people.
[His voice catches slightly as his throat tightens, but Sam continues stubbornly, eyes a little pleading.]
I know the last thing you probably want to do right now is talk to me, but you know more about what's going on than I do, and I need...
[He trails off, trying to find words, before he decides to just be honest.]
I can't get taken like that again.
no subject
I don't know that much, Sam.
[He finally says, his own voice soft as well.]
Staying in the light, or keeping a flashlight at least, might hold it at bay. That is all I know.
[And he's quiet briefly another few moments, before looking away.]
I don't want to speak to anyone right now. It is not you in specific.
no subject
Until then, though, Sam forces a ghost of a smile before he takes a deep breath, to center his focus.]
You should go home.
[It's a gentle request, not an order.]
If you don't go now, we should all meet back there before dark so we can figure out what to do. So we're all in one place.
[So that everyone can figure out what to do with Sam if he loses it again.]
no subject
[But he's not going to go home right now. He has things he needs to do while still running on some level of adrenaline, and that can only be done while it's light out. If this happens again tonight, they won't have a chance to venture out safely for things they need.
He pauses, then, watching Sam for a few moments before continuing.]
You should rest.
no subject
An hour before sundown, then, just to be on the safe side.
no subject
Alright. I will see you there.
[And without another word he turns and strides off, to head into the city while it's still light to get supplies.]
