[Day: You survived. That was... horrifying. And you don't think you've ever been so happy to see the sun rise the next morning. Things are worse for wear, and you need to get more supplies just in case something else comes.

But wait- halfway through the day, and suddenly the sun is gone? Where did it go, and how is it night so early?

Night: Careful. The terrors of last night are back, and now are even in more of a frenzy than before. More crazed, more dangerous, and wanting to destroy everything they come across. Hope you can keep your eyes open.]

[He pauses.] If you're worried that I don't think well enough of myself-- believe me, my self-esteem is healthy.

[ That last expression is one she makes only in her head; she's really just smiling, taking a page out of his book - the very book she's leveling her criticism at, which brings the total irony for the night up much too high for any sane, sober person to be all right with.

In any case, he's due for another headshake. ] I'm not worried about that. Don't flatter yourself so much, heh.

[He smiles a bit, not having been able to read, well, most any of that going on there. Though of course there was something.]

[ She'll gauge the sincerity of that, but only for a second. At last their bedding set up, more a nest/fort now with the extra padding and insulation from her hair, is finished and at last she falls back, sending up another wave of gold in doing so. ]

Is it forbidden to say that I'm glad that you did, too, on account of that being a poor way of taking a compliment? If not -- then I'm glad you did, too. I wasn't looking forward to a long vigil without my ally.
