END OF ARC 1: FOLKVANG SHELTER CATCH-ALL

[The moment the sirens sounded, the ladies of Folkvang Comfort House opened their doors. They cleared away their equipment and pulled out the supplies they'd gathered in advance, and began herding children, the elderly, and anyone who needed to hide into their buildings. For the duration of the battles, there will be food, shelter, warmth and safety here, though the smells and sounds of battle are never truly gone.]

[ that gets a chuckle out of her. ] And I'm used to being the fighting hero... guess we're both sort of out of our comfort zones.

[ she pulls away from the hug to smile at him fully, but her hands are still reassuringly on his shoulders. ]

[that's something he appreciates. with as independent as he's become in Asgard... he still likes having the security of close friends.]

Things just keep getting crazier around here, huh...

Yeah, no kidding! [ then again, what else is new? she should probably be used to it by now. ]

But I guess we did get some warning this time... maybe this is the big final battle the Gods have been talking about.

[selfestheim]

Yeah... and if it is, that means we'll go back home afterward, right?

[he can't help but look down at that. he does want to go home, don't get him wrong, but... is he willing to leave the friends he's made here in Asgard behind?]

That's how it's supposed to go...

[ and she feels the same. she's made so many dear friends here and been through so much... the thought of forgetting all of it was a little scary. ]

I guess we just need to make the best of whatever time we have left here.

[selfestheim]

[just hearing that brings him back to his situation before coming to Asgard. he knew he and his friends only had a limited amount of time together back then, too, huh... why does this keep happening to him?]

... Hey, Hilda?

[adventurous]

[ it really does suck when people you hold close to your heart leave suddenly. Hilda knows the feeling not only from Asgard, but with a certain person from her world. the idle thought of if they'd ever meet again has crossed her mind more than once. ]

Yeah?

... Thanks. For being my friend.

[adventurous]

[ ...d'aww, c'mere you. you're getting another hug, but this one's a lot less forceful. ]

Hey, it's not like it was a chore. You're one of my best friends.. I should be thanking you for putting up with me! [ heh heh. ]

[yaaay hugs! he would be surprised to have gotten that kind of reaction from her, but... to be honest? he's used to it now. the happiness is kind of fleeting, though; even with his arms around her, both his expression and his face drop a little.]

You're one of mine, too. I just... if we do end up going home after this—even if we forget what happened here... I just wanted to let you know that.

[adventurous]

[ hm... maybe this is what "living in the moment" is supposed to mean? right now, Hilda doesn't want to think about the past or what might happen in the future. she just wants to stay close to her friend and enjoy the time that they have right now. ]

Thanks... I feel the same way.

[ she pulls away again, and her soft grin is already turning into another playful one. ] But hey, let's keep a minimum on the depressing exchanges! Gotta stay positive, right?

[it's then that he's reminded of his other friends, the ones from home... they would have said the same thing.]
