Who: All the Whoniverse folks, and their plus ones
What: Eight is a bit Christmas crazy, and is inflicting it on his "family".
When: Day 378
Where: Thor 104 (Who House 2)
Rating: PG

A week before, everyone in the Doctors' makeshift "family" is sent a simple message:

Come to Thor 104 in one week's time for a Christmas get-together.
Bring a friend if you like.
No, this is not optional. Don't make me come get you.

When they arrive, they're greeted by a festively decorated house, twinkling lights and all, still covered in snow from the day before. The door is, as usual, unlocked so that everyone can filter in as they please. Once inside, the house is full of the sights, sounds, and scents of a huge family holiday gathering. A fire in the fireplace makes the house warm and cozy, and a decorated tree holds pride of place.

Grab a glass of cider or mulled wine, wander the house, find a conversation to jump into, or get some fresh air in the back garden.

But beware, Eight has been quite liberal with his use of mistletoe. Chances are you'll find yourself under some at some point in the night.

[Alice smiled as she saw the other girl, quickly going over to her and hugging her. She then grabbed Clementine's hand.] Well, hello, Clementine.

You've been left to your own devices, have you?

[Clementine easily relaxes once she knows it is Alice, returning the hug and letting the younger girl take her hand.]

I figured you would come over, Alice! The kitchen seems....pretty busy so I figured I would stay out in the lounge and say hi to everyone. They said that would probably be easier.

Of course I would! [Now that she was willing to come outside again, things like parties were easy.] Were you helping in the kitchen? I've not even tried to bother, I've only tasked myself with ensuring mother doesn't try to cook anything.

Ah, Marigold is about here somewhere, sleeping where it's warmest. Lady bell is at home, for the moment.

I wanted to but the Doctor said I should stay out here. Is the TARDIS not very good at cooking then?

I know Marigold, did you draw a new dragon? [Since Ladybell seems new, as far as Clementine is aware, she's curious. And as far as where it is warmest, Clementine can only guess it would be near the fire or kitchen perhaps?]

It's a rule at the house that she's forbidden. If it's a rule, than it is clearly a very serious matter of bad cooking.

Not a dragon, no. A gryphon! Do you know what one is? I could show you what Lady bell looks like right now!

Oh....I didn't know that. I made soup with her once. Should I not have helped? I thought it seemed okay at the time.

A gryphon? I've only read a bit about them in books I think. I don't remember much. They can fly though, right? Could we draw one?

[Of course since it is Clementine there is paper and art supplies around, even if one weren't counting her new presents adding to that. She gets some and passes some paper and pencil to Alice.]

No no! It's alright. She can make simple things, especially with help!

They have the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion and some their hind-feet are talons instead of paws. And yes! Lady bell can carry me while she flies for a short distance. If she's not carrying anyone she can fly for as long as an eagle. She eats a terrible good deal.

[She takes the pencil and paper and draws the gryphon she had drawn before, handing it back to the older girl.]

Now imagine that, only MUCH bigger.

Oh. Well that's okay then. I thought the soup turned out okay and I didn't think it wouldn't be a good idea.

[Clementine listens, watching and admiring Alice's drawing of the gryphon as she explains it.]

Wow. That looks pretty neat.

Really, Clementine, it's fine. Mother would know what is and isn't safe.

Thank you! And when the party is over, you can come over and meet her. She's... not as nice as Marigold, though. She's a warrior.

Oh, okay.

So she can fight? That's good. She can help keep you safe and protect you then!

[Without Alice using a gun. Clementine can't help being glad of that.]

She can. Claws that catch, jaws that bite. She can fly and fight and she'll protect you too, Clementine! All my friends, like Jamie and Ellie, she'll protect all my loved ones, if asked. So, if ever you need her too, you will let me know, won't you?

She would? Okay, I'll let you know if I need help. I'm glad you have her to look after you too.

[Which is true. Alice is younger, and she doesn't have a pistol like Clementine does. So it is good to know that Alice has some sort of defense and protection should she need it.]

[madcuriosity]

I think... I would... like something a bit more immediate, though. [She thinks back on her vorpal blade... she turns back to Clementine, smiling.] But this isn't conversation for the holidays.
