Who: All the Whoniverse folks, and their plus ones
What: Eight is a bit Christmas crazy, and is inflicting it on his "family".
When: Day 378
Where: Thor 104 (Who House 2)

A week before, everyone in the Doctors' makeshift "family" is sent a simple message:

Come to Thor 104 in one week's time for a Christmas get-together.
Bring a friend if you like.
No, this is not optional. Don't make me come get you.

When they arrive, they're greeted by a festively decorated house, twinkling lights and all, still covered in snow from the day before. The door is, as usual, unlocked so that everyone can filter in as they please. Once inside, the house is full of the sights, sounds, and scents of a huge family holiday gathering. A fire in the fireplace makes the house warm and cozy, and a decorated tree holds pride of place.

Grab a glass of cider or mulled wine, wander the house, find a conversation to jump into, or get some fresh air in the back garden.

But beware, Eight has been quite liberal with his use of mistletoe. Chances are you'll find yourself under some at some point in the night.

"I do," he responded, a bit wistfully. "It's wonderful having the Doctor here, but at the same time he's not my Doctor."

"Hm. I'm not entirely sure I understand, but I know where you're coming from," he said. "The Doctor and I were... never particularly close."

"How do you know him anyway?" Turlough asked, furrowing his brow slightly. He never knew how the Doctor and Irving knew each other-he just knew that they did.

Irving didn't honestly want to tell him. But apparently, the Doctor was going to tell regardless. "We're family."

Turlough paused, giving Irving a confused look. Truth be told, he never really thought of the Doctor having family. Sure, there was Susan, who he had met once, but that was it. That was all he knew. "Mind telling me how you're related?" he asked, obviously confused.

He sighed. Why did it matter? "He's my brother."

Turlough just gaped a bit, frowning. Why didn't the Doctor tell him that? That's something you would tell people! He'd want to tell people if Malkon showed up here, shouldn't the Doctor think the same?

"I...see," Turlough said, after a pause. "Well, I wish he had told me that beforehand." Yes, Turlough is placing all of the blame on the Doctor and none on Brax in this situation.

And Brax wasn't about to correct him. "Yes, I'm surprised he hadn't either," he said. He stopped himself from adding 'he told everyone else' because he's not actually trying to split Turlough away from the Doctor. He was just amused.

There's an overdramatic siiiiigh from Turlough. "Oh well. I suppose he's in hot water now," Turlough said, with a shrug. And then, after a pause, he turned towards Irving, still walking. "I suppose that if any member of my family shows up, I'll have to tell you before the Doctor."

He just smiled at the hot water remark. "Oh? Shall I be commiserating or congratulating? Even I am not sure which for me, eight of him is a bit much."

"Congratulating, I suppose," Turlough said, with a shrug. "I haven't seen my family in a while. I have a mother, father and a brother." At least, when he was exiled he had a father and a brother. His mother had died by then, but he didn't want to tell Irving that much about himself. Besides, with the nature of this place, he could possibly see his mother, despite her death.

"Until then, then," he nodded, sensing Turlough's reluctance.

Turlough couldn't help but chuckle slightly at Irving's statement. "We'll see about it. I'm not entirely sure how I'd feel if my family shows up."

"I think that's true for most if not all of us."

He chuckled, shaking his head. "Ah family. They're certainly a handful at times."

"Indeed they are," he smiled back at him.

"So, are there any embarrassing family stories with the Doctor?" Turlough asked, mischevious grin on his face.

"Nothing that tops him now," he shot back, a smirk of his own on his. "He was terribly... earnest when he was younger. And we all have our moments of pratfalls and misadventures. But nothing stands out as particularly humiliating, no."

"Pity," Turlough responded, with a sigh. "And here I was hoping for some blackmail material."

"Ah, that requires shame, I'm afraid."

"Which the Doctor seemingly has none of."

"A lesson for us all, perhaps," he replied, sounding as if he'd rather not learn that lesson. At least, not as well as the Doctor.

Turlough sighed, shaking his head slightly. "It can be a bit embarrassing at times. Personally, I think he gets worse with age." Or, at least, it's pretty jarring comparing the Eleventh Doctor to some of the younger Doctors.

"I suppose one stops caring about embarrassment as one ages," he mused. "Well, some of us do."

"And some of us stop caring more than others. It's one thing not to be embarrassed by simple mistakes, but the Doctor's something else entirely."
