Getting to know you
Who: Any/all strike team members
What: Training/mingling/SNACKS
When: Day 473-474
Where: The Citadel
[From the outside, the small medieval-style fortress appears unoccupied, but on the inside, the first meeting of Asgard's strike team. For the next two days, members are invited to get to know one another, share what they can do, train, or...you know, team build.
For those who wish experiment with working together, equipment has been set up to form an obstacle course of sorts that takes up half the gym area. (Those who have trained with the Assassins on their capture-the-flag courses may feel the similarities.) Plenty of seating is available for those who just want to mingle or talk strategy.
There are also snacks. Eat them.]

[She says it like it's a relief to be challenged, to have an excuse to push herself. She waves him over to the edge of the course, puts herself at a starting place, waiting until he's lined up nearly next to her. There are minor differences in the course, but they can crisscross over, make their way as needed.
She might have the advantage, having gone a couple of times.]
On three. One, two-
[Ellie takes off like a shot, moving with considerable speed. She's no trained assassin, but she can make good time, and she's smart enough to put her powers to use. This time, she doesn't fall. Her real distraction is keeping track of Barnes.]

Two of them stick in the nearest flat surface. Some dissipate almost immediately once they've done damage, having been formed from shadows. Then he swings himself up onto one of the ladder-like structures and starts to climb as fast and as carefully as he can, careful where he puts his limbs.
Perfect time to get him back for the knives, really.]

[The first cut surprises the hell out of her, and she nearly falls, before she realizes it must be Barnes. Her smile turns determined as she picks up her pace, moving to avoid the projectiles. Though she can't do it well at first, she ends up dodging one successfully before he gets to the ladder.
The crackling noise of wood growing in, of leaves rustling, is all the warning he's like to get before small tendrils of ivy snake on up the ladder, tangling his legs and making it difficult to move. Thorns sprout above him. Not impossible to pass, but possibly enough to slow him down.
Though with that metal hand...]

Clever kid. Most definitely a threat, especially to his winning right now, so he tosses off a few more shadow knives to distract her while he works. Once he's managed to kick his legs free of the tendrils, he turns his attention to clearing his path of thorns, breaking off the bigger ones with his left hand and scraping off the rest with an actual knife hidden up his sleeve. Occasionally, while he's doing this, he throws a shadow knife towards Ellie to distract her and slow her down.
He'll reach the top. Eventually.]

It's a close thing, but Ellie reaches the top first, leaves a patch of slippery moss, and keeps running. She hasn't had such a challenge in a while -- though she knows he's just messing around with her. If he wanted to, he could have had her with a lot of those shadow knives.
The next part is all about agility; a long stretch of irregular monkey bars over a long drop. The alternative is a narrow wall. Ellie trusts her feet on the wall more than the bars, so she starts off across it. It's a long fucking way down, so she has to concentrate.]
