Getting to know you

Where: The Citadel

[From the outside, the small medieval-style fortress appears unoccupied, but on the inside, the first meeting of Asgard's strike team. For the next two days, members are invited to get to know one another, share what they can do, train, or...you know, team build.

For those who wish experiment with working together, equipment has been set up to form an obstacle course of sorts that takes up half the gym area. (Those who have trained with the Assassins on their capture-the-flag courses may feel the similarities.) Plenty of seating is available for those who just want to mingle or talk strategy.

There are also snacks. Eat them.]

"You keep saying infected, but you haven't said what they were infected with." The fact that there were quarantine zones was a pretty good hint from the start that it was something especially unpleasant, but it still doesn't feel like he's got the whole picture here.

"A fungus that rots your brain and body and turns you into a walking mushroom person that rips apart other living things until you die." Basically.

...Funny, that sounds an awful lot like...

"So basically, zombies?"

And this was why she usually just told people she was from a zombie-ish apocalypse. Even if the Infected weren't zombies, they seemed to understand zombie more than a fucked up disease. Oh well. Whatever worked.

"Pretty much."

"And it's a fungal infection, too... I can see why you'd want to quarantine people because of it. Having a military around to stop them from getting close, too."

Geeze, though...

"Hey, weird question, but are you from earth by any chance?"

"Sure am. And the military is doing shit all for it. The stuff is still spreading no matter how much they claim bullshit like 'oh it's getting better' to people."

She clearly had very strong opinions on the matter.

"That's like the third version of it that isn't doing so hot." He has to wonder if there isn't an impending apocalypse coming up soon on his own earth, at this rate...

"Figures as much, though. It's harder to control people who are in a blind panic."

"Yeah. We should start a club or something. 'Our Earth Sucks and All We Got Were These Lousy T-Shirts'."

Which just made her burst out laughing because it didn't actually sound like a terrible idea.

"If you find a place that will make them, I know a few people who might be interested!" Though it's hard to say if they'd actually find it all that amusing, but it's the thought that counts... right?

[everysecond]

"You know I'm totally going to go find someone to make them, right? Because this has to be a thing." She'd wear her own openly and proudly.

[not_sasuke]

"Make sure to let me know when you do. I might even get a few for my friends."

It wouldn't even be that hard to slip in the packages through the windows, especially now that it's summer...

"As soon as I have some free time, I'm researching this shit. I want to see loads of people wearing the damn things now."

[not_sasuke]

"I don't really qualify for it myself, but it would be fun to see." At least, one would hope he doesn't. He'd been out in the forest for a few months with only sparing contact with the outside world; but then again, he's also pretty certain someone would let him know if the apocalypse was suddenly under way.

"Hey, as long as you're willing to advertise then I don't have a problem. You can be like, oh what did they call them, a sales person thing." Was it called a salesperson? Hell if she knew. Those were a thing of the past by the time she was born.

...It's only slightly jarring to remember that he is indeed speaking to someone who is from a world that lacks salespeople, but he rolls with it admirably nonetheless.

"I might even be able to get you some walking billboards - we'll have to see!"

"Wait. Those things walk where you're from?" That was news to her!

Pffffthahaha. Well, he can't say that it was an entirely unexpected answer, all things considered.

"I meant people. Get people to wear your shirts, and they're practically walking billboard advertisements. Get it?"

[everysecond]

She didn't think she said anything funny so she was left blinking until he explained.

"Oh! I was picturing one of the giant ass signs."

"I figured, after you said that. Sorry, sorry - they probably don't say that where you're from anymore."

Though it does give an amusing mental image, at least.

"Not that I've heard anyway. But I didn't really talk much to people who remembered the world before it went to shit. Mostly because they were dead or assholes."

She was never going to pull a punch. Ever.

Wow, that's some resentment.

"Not really a big fan of 'em, huh? What are they usually like?"

"Depends. But they don't like me so who cares, right?"

[not_sasuke]

"Sometimes it's good to know why people don't like you. You can turn it against them if you know how."

She laughed. "You and I are gonna be friends. I can tell."

[not_sasuke]

He gives a low snicker, himself. "We just might! But first..."

And then, as if he hadn't just suggested ways to plot the downfall of individuals, we're back to a bright and chipper tone: "Since we're here, how about trading some climbing tips? You're a lot more used to the city, looks like. I'm more used to the forest. I bet we could learn a thing or two."
