Breaking the Ice (WIDE OPEN)
Who: Anyone Sick of a gigantic Ice-cicle on our front porch who wants to hep out!
What: Removing the Corrupted Ice
When: d513 and onward
Where: The Viscinity of the Gate of Fire and surrounding areas
Rating: Keep it PG
Meta-Post for all those assisting in breaking up the ice who would like to post logs to that effect. A reminder for you that Here is the OOC Post. The basic rundown of events is that while Baldr and Loki tag-team to assist in purifying the corruption to weaken the ice enough to destroy it, the travelers will be using a combination of ingenuity, well-protected muscle, technology and powers to
a) Keep the ice from going everywhere.
b) Heal workers who get magical frostbite.
c) Melt, explode, break up and destroy the ice, carting any left over out of the city.
This process begins throughout 513, and you may all assume you're cordially invited if you want to help out. I'll leave some general prompts for participants. Remember the following hazards:
Hazards:
-The Ice has not weakened. It's not stronger, and it hasn't grown, but it's just as hazardous as it was to start. Touch it, and you get frostbite that has to be healed magically, and the healing leaves you with regular frostbite to handle the old fashioned way.
-The above matters because part of this plan involves blowing this massive thing of ice to pieces. Yes, you're planning to build big bulwarks and walls, but there's always a risk of some getting on a few of you... or a lot.
-After this is done, clean-up crews will have to scour the streets and search for pieces just in case. ---Once it's all out, the Engineers can focus on rebuilding the Gate of Fire.

Attacking the Ice

For a moment, he spends his time looking for anyone who might have the ability to make fire; when he tires of that, he settles for something a little more basic. And if he looks a little odd, working away at the ice with the sturdiest bit of... something he's managed to get his hands on, he's never minded that.]
If we only had something like an icebreaker, we might be able to get somewhere.

[Equius was standing nearby, handing the small scale explosives and sticks of TNT that were to be used once cracked and wedged into place to try and shatter the rock. Gunpowder was to be laced with plant material breaking in, if he remembered correctly.
Or at least something to that effect.]
We simply require large fuses, yes?
no subject
As in, to bombs.
YOU HAVE YUSUF'S ATTENTION, SIR.]
I could perhaps make some with string. But I can supply a few bombs as well. They need only be thrown.

[Assuming that there's not anything that would keep the ice from being susceptible to being exploded but at the very least it should work, and if nothing else, they don't really lose anything in the attempt.
Except maybe the explosive itself, but that's not a loss that would be anything particular major.]
But we would need fuses, yes. Something long enough that we could get well out of the way before it went off. Getting hit by flying bits of ice wouldn't be anyone's idea of fun, I should think.

Cleanup and Barriers!

We can't let go yet.

Take my hand and I'll help you out some. You can't do that with just your power.

Exploding the ice had been one idea of many, but it has to be accounted for in Dirk's math. He can't help but lay all of the attempts out in neat lines of data in hopes to catch all possibilities. He's damn certain he won't get everything but being slacker isn't in his nature. Each time he lays his hands to the framework he set up for a barrier, he pictures what he drew out in careful detail.
The ice builds up in layers, frosting over the framework and growing in strength under his careful direction. Dirk is so engrossed in his task he might miss the first words someone says to him but he'll turn his head to look at them. "I'm listening. Go ahead."
B.
For those that want to help but don't know how to construct barriers or don't have medical skills, he offers to teach how to build the framework for barriers. During the course of the day he lends his hand to any barriers looking like they might be failing. "Hold on, I'll help you out a bit." Whatever power is at work gets a dose of level 3 ice to boost it's effectiveness against the ice they're working at.
"Tell me when you got it and I'll step the hell back."
C.
Whatever else you can come up with.
Healers!

So come one, come all, to Hawkeye's Healing Hut For Frostbitten Fingers...and toes. And other things.]

He even has the good grace to look a bit sheepish about it, as he makes his way into the little enclosure that Hawkeye's had set up.]
Ah, this is the right place, yes?

Yep, right here. Take a seat. Accident, or could you not resist?

Until she was needed though, she'll be going around with water and seeing if anyone needs something to drink.]

[The creature that she was offering water to was gray-skinned and clearly more than a little tired. He settled against a wall and grunted, looking over at a half-built wall. It was doing a good job, but it was clear he wanted to continue the work somehow.]
Infernal ice block is unnecessarily and inappropriately large.

[It was the first time that Yuiko had actually come across one of the trolls, but she remembered that people turned gray when they lost their bracelet and she had remembered that she had been miserable when it had happened to her.]
Ah, but you said you wanted some water, but we have to hurry.
[She's trying to help really.]

Balder (Open)
Should someone wish to speak to him, they may do so here.
Roland Deschain (open)
Energy transfer powers are useful enough, in their way. But now, when their efforts are new enough that everyone seems very fresh and alert still, Roland wonders whether he even ought to be here. But operations like this always need more manpower, people to carry equipment and weapons, to help set things up, hold this or that still or any number of small tasks everyone else is too busy for. Roland wanders, looking around for someone who seems to need something. He's alert to any voices or gestures that look to be calling him over, but this whole thing is very crowded and busy. If he gets in the way of your powers or your weapons on accident, do please try not to hit him in the face. Or anywhere else.
B.
Later on, though, there's sure to be some whose work isn't quite done, who want to keep going but who clearly need a little bit more than a break. Roland keeps an eye out for those people. But since he's only got so much energy to give, mostly what he's doing is playing servant and passing out drinks. Nothing more refreshing than bottles of water, but those are necessary enough that Roland can ignore how this stings at his pride and just do it. Hey, you. Yeah. You. Don't need any water? Too bad, Roland's shoving it in your face anyway, along with a Look. He knows what you need just as well as you do, and right now what you need is water. Better take it, if you know what's good for you.
c.
Anything else? Whatever you want to do, whenever, go for it.
B
He hasn't gotten a good look when he's attacked by Roland with a water bottle. What unusual behavior. You people are going to turn September into one gigantic question mark.
"Thank you." Appropriate response?

B (I hope you're okay with SURPRISE NEGATIVE CR Don is paranoid as shit)
His fingers splay. The shadow disintegrates. His step backward turns to a stumble and he reaches out to grip the other man's arm. His hand clamps down as he regains his balance. Stays flat on Roland's arm another heartbeat. “Shit--excuse me.” He's stepping away when he gets a look at Roland; something slams down behind his eyes.
He's never met the man, never wanted to since seeing him on the network assuring Odin anyone who disagreed with war would be dealt with. Since hearing lunatic certainty in his voice. “Sorry about that. It's obviously time for a break.” His smile's pinched, his words are stiff, but maybe that's exhaustion.
yes good
"I think so," Roland agrees, tone cautiously polite, as he holds a water bottle from his purse out toward him. "How long're you planning on being here?"
I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG D:
NO WORRIES :D
B. my email didn't shoot me a line about this going up. sorry for the late.
Dirk is halfway through yet another check of the most recently constructed of the lot when the bottle of water is shoved against the side of his face. The cold shocks his mind enough that he jerks his head up. He raises his eyebrows and sighs. "Alright. I'll take a break. But give me a second, the angle of these things has to be precise." He pauses to twist the cap off the water before he adds. "They look decent to you? I'm damn sure I got the math right but I could always be slightly off my calculations."
it's all good
He stands, takes a look at the closest one, and looks around to check how safe it'll be to walk around it. "Don't know how strong this ice is, but the angles of this one look right. Long as there's another one on this side to close things off. Want me to check the others?"
