- Day 515 ( Sept. 25/26 )
- Progress through the ice blockade will be slow and narrow, as they can't possibly hope to clear the entirety of the forest that has been buried under Thiazi's black ice. Now that they know the source of her magic's corruption, it might not come as a great surprise when cracking open the ice unleashes a strange burst of magic.
At the halfway point between Utgard and Asgard, a pulse of energy will move through the entire city, immediately putting every mortal it touches to sleep. This part of the curse is mandatory and your character must fall asleep; the dream effects of it are not mandatory, and can be played with at your discretion. During this first wave, Travellers will be granted a brief dream - that does not belong to them. They will see, from the dreamer's point of view, every hope and goal and aspiration that the dreamer wishes to complete before the end of days. Whether it's simply confessing their love to an old friend or saving their home planet or perfecting an Asgardian pie, your character will see someone else's ideal resolution before Ragnarok. More on plotting this below!
Upon waking, the Travellers will be plagued with the indistinct whispering of several voices overlapping one another and a slight headache. Both symptoms will gradually increase over time until it reaches incapacitating pain and nausea. The only way to assuage the symptoms is to find the owner of the dream and either maintain physical contact for an hour or discuss the subject of the dream until a full confession has been made. After that, the symptoms will fade and the Travellers will be free to carry on with their day.
There will be other pulses of magic at random throughout the day; these are not mandatory and you can feel free to have your character experience as many or as few dreams as you wish. All dream-sharing will cease by the end of the day, as the blockade progresses past that centre-point of magic.

And then she remembered that she had something to tell him - and not a good something, at that. "Yosuke, I must confess, I'm glad you contacted me. I have something to tell you."

Well, that was a start, at least.

"'Found' you," he said flatly, once he'd sucked down enough of his sudden urge to hurl. It wasn't much of a question.

"I tell you this because..." Maribelle took a deep breath, gathering herself. "Because he told me he did not wish for me to see you. And when I asked him why, he... embraced me." Her face was bright red, by now, and she couldn't quite meet his eyes. She had, of course, told him in her own way that it was none of his business - but then, why had he done such a thing, really?
no subject
Oh. Oh. ...Ewww. That wasn't right. That wasn't right on so very many levels, even if Yosuke only owed the visceral disgust tugging at the corner of his mouth to one of the most obvious.
"Look," he said sharply, ignoring her clear discomfort, "you can't tell me you're going to listen to a creep like that, are you? I don't even know how old he is, for crying out loud!"
And more to the point, how could she listen to a creep like that over him?
no subject
A huff, and she continued, a glare of disapproval clear on her face. "I never said I was believing him over you, Yosuke. I told him - politely, of course - that his comments were unwarranted. He left after he embraced me." She had neither seen nor heard from him again today - and frankly, she wasn't sure what to make of everything.
no subject
He swallowed, falling abruptly silent. Dammit, he should have thought about the phrasing a bit before going off like that. But some things are important.
no subject
"Is that truly what you are most concerned with? Because, Yosuke, I am a lady, and a lady conducts herself with grace, no matter the circumstances. You, meanwhile, are currently conducting yourself in a most unbecoming fashion. And if that is truly how you are going to act, then perhaps we oughtn't see each other in this manner."

Was this how it was always going to go? There'd be something on the horizon, something coming his way, something that promised a change - and then he'd say the wrong thing or look away at the wrong moment, and it'd be like it was never there. Maybe he'd just been wrong from the start. Who would want to get to know the real him, apart from the people he already owed everything? The real him, who could drag them down to his level with a smile, who could run as fast as he wanted without getting any further away from the whiny kid in the TV.
Just the real him. Never some vigilante, some warrior of justice or anything like that. Sure, it hurt to have the past so rudely dumped back into his here and now, all these months later. It hurt like hell for that horrible ghost to call him out personally, like his friends were already out of the picture, like he was alone. It meant he couldn't even convincingly pretend this was none of his business. That was why he'd thought he couldn't just stay quiet, either...
That was why the future was about to leave him behind, too. Except - he could change. He'd promised to change. And here he was.
He dipped into a bow. His heart already felt heavy, so he figured he might as well.
"I'm sorry. ...I'll apologise as much as you want. Lately, whenever he comes up, I just stop thinking, but that's no way to solve anything."
Nervously, still clasping his hands together, he looked back up.
"So, um... whatever else you wanna say, you can let me have it, but... either way, can you do me a favour?"
no subject
"Perhaps," she told him, her tone softer and more gentle than it had been, but not by much, "you ought to practice thinking before you speak, Yosuke. I came to you with what happened, despite worrying over what you might think - and you proved my unease to be accurate." But she sighed, and nodded wearily at him. "What is it, then?"
If it were yet another tirade regarding Adachi and how she shouldn't hang around with him, she was going to seriously consider slapping him.
no subject
He shifted uneasily, his gaze wandering off to his side. Look at that, practising already.
"...I'm always running away. I think - I don't like it, but I think just this once, I better work this out with him. It... seems more like a Souji thing, but if I don't, I'm just gonna keep on getting wound up, you know? And I don't like that either. Going off on you and Souji and everyone else won't stop him from doing whatever he wants."
His voice had dropped lower than most of the times she'd heard it before, and not just because he wasn't smiling.
"So... I won't ask about him for now. But until I do, or until he freaks you out again, tries anything - can you just not talk about him? Let me do it in my own time. I won't just put it off... I want to give it a try."
no subject
"I do believe that is the smartest thing you have said to me yet," she continued, and it almost sounded like a compliment. "Running won't solve anything, nor will exploding mindlessly at people who wish to confide in you." Perhaps he could take this as an opportunity to grow - and far be it from her to deny him that. She knew that she had some growing up to do, herself... even if she wasn't about to admit it.
no subject
And that, he told himself, was that. It had to be. No more spinning his wheels - unlike all those other times.
Sucking his cheek in for a moment, he added, "Soooo - about six o'clock?"
no subject
She huffed to herself at his question, frowning again. "... I suppose I'll allow you a chance to make it up to me," she said, at last, with a sigh. Of course, if he decided to be rude again, there was no telling what would happen, only that it would be thoroughly unpleasant for the boy.

Ending the video call with a flick of his finger, he at last allowed himself to breathe normally. Yeah, taking a long walk with his music player on shuffle before he went to pick her up sounded super appealing right now.
no subject
She just hoped he wouldn't be insensitive again. This day had gone wretchedly enough already.
no subject
...Er, not that customer service was a great guideline for how to handle a girl in this sense. On the other hand, it was something, and he didn't have a better one yet. All he could do for now was make sure his smile was appropriately self-effacing and non-threatening before walking up to her.
"Hey there! I... whoa." And then, despite his efforts, he found himself stopping in his tracks anyway. "Oh man, you're really something..."
no subject
"I assume you have something planned for tonight?" And hopefully, neither of them would pass out during it.
no subject
Awkwardly, he fidgeted with the collar of his jacket, pulling his headphones a bit further down. He hadn't meant to clean up, he'd just thrown this one on to make a change from the one that had been kissing the pavement for far more of today than he was proud of... okay, and maybe a little so he wouldn't accidentally remind himself of his flub earlier.
"...Yeah!" he said, finally. "Yeah, tonight." He cleared his throat, hoping it would clear out enough of these butterflies for him to regain his ability to speak in sentences. "You wanted to know what a movie is, right!?"
no subject
"And where are we going for this?" she inquired politely, idly twirling her parasol as she walked up to him. He hadn't told her, yet - not that she remembered, at least, for their earlier argument had pushed most of the details from her mind.
