Day 137 | Alexis Castle | Castle | Odin

[Alexis knew she wasn't the type of person to get lost. Yes, New York City was big and there were people everywhere, but she'd grown up there and so she was used to it.

But what she wasn't used to was being pulled out of the city she knew and plopped down in one she didn't. It was confusing and more than a little bit disorienting.

So for the moment, she's occupying herself by looking around her in all directions and trying to make sense of what's just happened.]

[Rachel is on her way to the library when she spots the confused girl. Normally Rachel tries to avoid strangers in this town, but seeing as the gods just gave them a giant lecture on how this is a bad thing to do, she can't help but wander a little closer.]

Excuse me, do you need help?

[noseveredheads]

[Alexis doesn't know anything about the gods or giant lectures (well, she does, but the ones she's familiar with probably are very different), but what she does know is that help of any kind is welcome right about now.]

Um, well, I think I'm all right, except I don't know where we are. This isn't New York, is it? [She's sure it isn't, because since when did New York look so... grey?]

[Rachel almost has to laugh at that, because -- well.]

No, this is definitely not New York.

[She takes a few steps forward.]

Perhaps we should start with names...? I'm Rachel Berry.

I guess that was kind of obvious, huh? [Alexis laughs too, because wherever this is, it's about as far away from looking like New York as it could get.]

Hi, Rachel. I'm Alexis Castle. [She smiles and offers a handshake.] How long have you been here?

[Castle was going through Odin on a library run when the familiar red hair caught his eye. There were other redheads here and every time he saw them he thought they were Alexis. He was always disappointed when they weren't. But this time, the build seemed right, the way the young woman walked was right. When she turned her head, Castle knew it was her and called out to her.]

Alexis!

[noseveredheads]

[It was beginning to set in for Alexis that this was not home and that for now, she was alone. Or at least, she thought she was. She'd kept her eyes peeled for signs of her dad or even Detective Beckett or Dr. Parish, but all she saw were strangers.

But then she turned a corner, and after a moment, heard her name being called. Turning to see who it was, her mouth dropped open in surprise.]

Dad?

[writeswrongs]

Alexis.

[He threw his arms around her as he approached her, drawing her close to his chest. Conflicting feelings flowed through him. He was so happy to see his daughter, but this place was incredibly dangerous.]

When did you get here?

alas, I have to head to work now. I'll attempt tagging on my phone if I have a spare moment.

[She returned the gesture, wrapping her arms around him as well. It was weird, because she was pretty sure it hadn't been too long since she'd seen him last, and she still had no idea how to reconcile someone being in two places at once.]

It was just a little while ago. Dad, what's going on? Where are we? Someone said this is a place called Asgard, but that doesn't make any sense.

that's fine!

[He sighed. Explaining this to her was going to be a blast.]

No, nothing about this makes sense. Ok. I'm going to try to explain this to you, but you have to stay with me and you have to now think that I've completely lost my marbles. Whoever told you that we're in Asgard was... correct.

[Alexis is lucky that Kate's out and about today - what with her boss missing and everything still going a little crazy because of recent events, she's been running herself ragged.

But she's running a quick errand, at the moment, when she sees a familiar head of hair. And maybe it's the hair, or maybe there's something else, but it makes Kate slow down enough and give a quick double-take before she's certain.]

Alexis? [Part of Kate almost thinks she's making it up. Seeing things. Of all the times for Alexis to show up...now was not a good one.]

[noseveredheads]

[When Alexis hears that familiar voice, she turns around and gasps in surprise.] Detective Beckett? When did you get here? [She stops herself from pelting her with questions.]

Over two months now. [Kate actually just kind of stands there in disbelief for a minute before looking around.] Have you found your dad yet? Does he know you're here?

[noseveredheads]

Two months? That's kind of a long time. How does that work, anyway? [Now Alexis looks just a little bit skeptical.] I'm pretty sure I just saw you back home.

[She nods in response to the detective's next question.] Yeah, I found him. I guess he was on the way to the library. It kind of figures that he'd be going there. [She pauses then and looks curiously at Kate.] Wait, so you already know he's here? How long has he been here?

Things work...differently here. A lot differently. Time, magic, everything. [Oh, wow okay maybe she should have waded into this a little more slowly. But Alexis is a smart girl, she'd figure it out at some point.]

You listened to the maid, right? When you first got here?

[Kate nods, yeah. The Library sounds like somewhere Castle would go.] Oh, geez. Uh. Some time, actually. He got here a couple weeks after I did.

can we pretend we're not in odin's distriiiict because katniss never goes there. like ever.

[empowers]

[ A flash of red hair, and my head snaps up. Foxface?

Is it possible the gods have that cruel a sense of humor? I've seen them do worse. I take off after the girl. If this is Foxface, maybe she could be our ally here. She was clever. Outside of the Games, maybe she would be less solitary. We're all tributes, all of us from Panem here. ]

Wait!

sure!

[noseveredheads]

[Alexis jumps, more than a little startled by Katniss sudden announcement of her presence.]

Um, hi. [She takes a breath to try and calm herself down. Something about Asgard is making her just a little nervous.]

LOVELY :D

[empowers]

[ I approach, and as I see her face, I know it's not Foxface. It's someone else. With that hair, it was hard to tell from the back. But it's obvious she still doesn't know where she is, or have her bearings. She looks young. So I decide to help her anyway. ]

Sorry. You reminded me of someone. Are you lost?

[noseveredheads]

[It's a little odd how Katniss is looking at her, but it makes sense once she explains that she reminded her of someone. She doesn't think anything of it as she responds:]

That's okay. [She holds up the map and letter she got from the maid.] I don't think I'm lost, because they gave me these. I just don't know this city very well. Not yet, anyway.

[empowers]

It's just a big circle. It's -- kind of divided up, into sections. Like a clock. [ Tick, tock. Tick, tock. She tries not to think of it. Katniss reaches for the map and leans in a little closer, pointing to the spot where they're standing. ] Right now, we're here. Once you get used to it, it's easy to navigate.

[corona]

[ And it's her... sister from another mister! Rapunzel knows what Alexis Castle is supposed to sound like (smart), knows what she acts like (responsible), and to a certain degree she even knows what Alexis Castle must look like (twice as lovely as her father - according to her father).

What she doesn't know is what Alexis Castle will act, sound, or look like in person. So bumping into her on her way home isn't quite as big of a deal as it could be. ]

...oops.

[Continuing her rather confused walk through Odin's district, Alexis kept looking around her trying to pinpoint landmarks and other things that would help her not become lost later on. She was gradually starting to get her bearings a little, but it was going to take a long time.

She peered up at the sky, looking to see if there were any mountains in the distance, and that was when she quite literally walked into another girl.]

Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going!

[corona]

[ Despite the collision, her only answer is one shake of the head and a small, accompanying smile. She knows that look - the scanning, searching, reaching one. It's a look that means arrival week. ]

You're new. Aren't you?

is your Rapunzel pre-haircut?

[noseveredheads]

[Alexis takes a moment to respond, because wow, that is some very pretty hair.]

Yeah, I'm new. I just got here, and I'm still sort of figuring things out.

Huh. You know you're... really calm considering - well. [ a vague gesture ] All of this.
