"Something's not right, Doctor," she said in a tone that sounded considerably more dark than normal. As pessimistic as she could be, she sounded... troubled. "Do you guys need a few extra hands? I can take some stimulants and get through a day, maybe two if you don't mind me crashing completely when this is all over."
no subject
"I fear you're right about that. Our patients' symptoms are troubling consistent, and show no signs of abating. I do not like to take your offer but the truth is -- we could use the help."

She plucked up a small set of vials from the crate, one that had been set aside from the others. Looking at the little yellow tubes, she nodded and popped one open, downing it. "I'm going to regret this eventually, but fuck it. Might as well make myself useful. What's first?"
no subject
"First is getting these to where they're most needed. Take them through to the secretary's office -- we're treating people as they come in. Let Mr Williams -- ah, you might know him better as Rory -- or Daphne if he's busy, know that you've brought supplies. They'll probably appreciate a run down of what you've brought and how to apply it, so if you could assist them for the moment, it would be appreciated."

He nodded at her plans. "Miss Painwheel is your assistant? I am much indebted to both of your support."

At the question, she shook her head, putting her foot on the door to brush it a little open. "She handles the register. Nothing too fancy, but she does what she can. It frees me up to prep medicine. She's actually kind of sweet," she said. "She'll follow directions just fine if I ask nicely."
no subject
"Refer the most serious cases to myself or Mr Williams, and take what precautions you see fit."
no subject
But, for now, she slipped out to meet with the front desk. This really was going to be a long day.
(OOC: I'll probably post a 'research' thread tomorrow if you want to stop into it. Will toss you a link, or she can pop back in this.)

Samantha was a little while in getting back. However, eventually, she returned to the doctor's office. Her features were as bleak as before. She had seen a few in this place who were not ones she had wanted to see sick, and many of the people were in very serious straights already.
"It is getting worse, Doctor," she said with a frown.
no subject
"Whatever this is, it's no mere virus."
no subject
She pinched the bridge of her nose, shaking her head. "Have we tried any of the local herbs, the ones that are supposed to have unique properties? I know everything I've heard has been tried is only treating symptoms, not the disease."
no subject
He nodded towards the door. "Come with me. A walk and some fresh air will do you good, and we can ask about the local herbs at the hospital."
no subject
"Do you want me to help out in the next day or so over at the hospital or the clinic more? I'm sure if it's as bad as I'm starting to think everywhere's going to need help," she considered.
no subject
"Much as I would like your help here at the clinic, I suspect that your knowledge may be better put to work in the better equipped laboratories of the hospital. We'll find out when we arrive."

She grunted as she stepped out into the street. She wanted to avoid causing too much of a commotion. Hopefully there weren't mobs.

Watson's pace is brisk, but he is confident in the fact that in his customary suit, he does not look much like the sterotypical ideal of a doctor.
no subject
She kept pace with him, and for all intents and purposes she looked even less like a doctor or research assistant. In truth, it was debatable whether or not she even owned formal clothes. She seemed to perpetually prefer denim and t-shirts or similar casual garb, at least now that she wasn't at the clinic. At best, she could manage slacks and a blouse. It definitely kept the image that they weren't here for medical business up.

And then, she thought of something. There was a frown and she considered. "Oh, you mean after we figure this situation out, don't you? Yeah... I can be civil to her. It probably wouldn't hurt to have something like that. There's probably a few topics to talk about anyway."

"I think you'd be right, though. This isn't the last time something like this could happen. During the heat of fighting, even if I end up on the front lines, we need lines of communication, and not just between the powered healers. They're going to be hard pressed as is. I'm... working on potions like the one I took. Wolfnettle's got some properties that could boost stamina, but it's got a nasty kick when it wears off. I'm not sure I like the idea of just giving it to whoever. Someone foolish could seriously hurt themselves over-extending. I think we've both met some would-be martyrs who don't know when to stop already."
no subject
So that was what she'd taken? Watson nodded. He was already determined to keep as close a watch for signs of imminent martyrdom in Samantha. "You raise a good point, Miss Grey. Asgard certainly seems to have more than it's fair share of stubborn people."
no subject
He was right to look at her like that right then. She wasn't likely to go too far this time. However, she was also the sort to not realize she'd gone too far before it was too late.
