Samantha emerged in the doorway, a small crate of supplies in her hands. What was inside it was mostly standard medicinals. However, there was a collection of herbal pieces she'd managed to work up throughout the day at Conan's request. She grunted and set it down before looking outside.

"Something's not right, Doctor," she said in a tone that sounded considerably more dark than normal. As pessimistic as she could be, she sounded... troubled. "Do you guys need a few extra hands? I can take some stimulants and get through a day, maybe two if you don't mind me crashing completely when this is all over."

"Consistency... is not a good thing, not right now," she said, not wanting to mention the Dragon's behavior. It wasn't like Anthrax scares weren't current news in the world she'd come from. The thought hadn't occurred to her at the time, but right about now it was looking alarmingly, increasingly like Surt was a very smart bastard.

She plucked up a small set of vials from the crate, one that had been set aside from the others. Looking at the little yellow tubes, she nodded and popped one open, downing it. "I'm going to regret this eventually, but fuck it. Might as well make myself useful. What's first?"

"Alright," she said, pocketing the yellow vials. It was almost as if she'd expected to use them. she picked up the crate again with a grunt and looked over at him. "I'll send a message to Painwheel. As long as she didn't contract something over in Hel district, I'll see if she can't help getting supplies over here that we can spare in the next day or two to keep us good to go. Pinch will probably be closed until this gets cleared up."

"I'll measure the pace," she promised. It was only partially a lie. She knew roughly what she could take before collapsing, and she'd be covering up soon, just in case this was infectious. "Death... isn't an issue for me, really, but we need some of us not going out of commission if we're going to treat everyone."

At the question, she shook her head, putting her foot on the door to brush it a little open. "She handles the register. Nothing too fancy, but she does what she can. It frees me up to prep medicine. She's actually kind of sweet," she said. "She'll follow directions just fine if I ask nicely."

"I'll make sure to do that. I will stop by to check in with you at some point this evening, after I've taken care of whatever it is that Mr. Williams needs," she said, about out the door. "If we find the medicines don't work on this, we'll probably want to test some combinations."

But, for now, she slipped out to meet with the front desk. This really was going to be a long day.

(OOC: I'll probably post a 'research' thread tomorrow if you want to stop into it. Will toss you a link, or she can pop back in this.)

(OOC: gotta sleep here in a minute, but we'll go ahead and start the time skip!)

Samantha was a little while in getting back. However, eventually, she returned to the doctor's office. Her features were as bleak as before. She had seen a few in this place who were not ones she had wanted to see sick, and many of the people were in very serious straights already.

"It is getting worse, Doctor," she said with a frown.

Samantha nodded. "That much seems obvious. This thing's moving fast, and there's a whole heap of a lot of people here that are already sick," she grunted. "I don't know that the hospital can really take that many more if this gets a whole lot bigger."

She pinched the bridge of her nose, shaking her head. "Have we tried any of the local herbs, the ones that are supposed to have unique properties? I know everything I've heard has been tried is only treating symptoms, not the disease."

"Good call," she said, grabbing whatever she needed to carry with her and joining him. She looked non the worse for wear, but it was very hard to tell with her. The potion had a way of making everything 'look' ok, even when it really wasn't.

"Do you want me to help out in the next day or so over at the hospital or the clinic more? I'm sure if it's as bad as I'm starting to think everywhere's going to need help," she considered.

"Yeah, I had a feeling you might say that," she admitted. "Much as I dislike Euri, I can put that aside if it's this serious, and Draco's tolerable if he hasn't headed out for the shopping trips. Either way, you're right. We've only got a few alchemists runing around here."

She grunted as she stepped out into the street. She wanted to avoid causing too much of a commotion. Hopefully there weren't mobs.

"He surprised me too," she admitted. "Showed up on my radar when the two of them were selling their sleeping draughts the other day, so apparently he's actually pretty damned good at this. There might be a few more, but for the moment they're the two I know."

She kept pace with him, and for all intents and purposes she looked even less like a doctor or research assistant. In truth, it was debatable whether or not she even owned formal clothes. She seemed to perpetually prefer denim and t-shirts or similar casual garb, at least now that she wasn't at the clinic. At best, she could manage slacks and a blouse. It definitely kept the image that they weren't here for medical business up.

"I'm on board," she said, nodding to that. "Like I said, I think she's a bitch, but I'll work with her. This isn't a normal time, and there's no reason we shouldn't work together on this."

And then, she thought of something. There was a frown and she considered. "Oh, you mean after we figure this situation out, don't you? Yeah... I can be civil to her. It probably wouldn't hurt to have something like that. There's probably a few topics to talk about anyway."

It had gotten worse recently, very recently. In fact, the difference in her tone towards Euri was markedly worse than the mild annoyance she had displayed when she had been at the clinic more regularly. She caught the raised eyebrow and shrugged. "She needs to learn to know when to keep her big yapper shut about who should and should not be working with potions, in my humble opinion," she muttered as an explanation.

"I think you'd be right, though. This isn't the last time something like this could happen. During the heat of fighting, even if I end up on the front lines, we need lines of communication, and not just between the powered healers. They're going to be hard pressed as is. I'm... working on potions like the one I took. Wolfnettle's got some properties that could boost stamina, but it's got a nasty kick when it wears off. I'm not sure I like the idea of just giving it to whoever. Someone foolish could seriously hurt themselves over-extending. I think we've both met some would-be martyrs who don't know when to stop already."
samantha_grey: (Oh?)

"I might just come to that class. I've got training, but not that much formal," she said, scratching at the back of her head. "I think we need to be careful not to over-rely on the people with healing powers. That stubbornness can be a problem on a lot of levels."

He was right to look at her like that right then. She wasn't likely to go too far this time. However, she was also the sort to not realize she'd gone too far before it was too late.
