Who: Hosts, Participants, Volunteers, Spectators, Merchants, and all your pets. everyone and everything.
What: The Tournament of Worlds & Magick
When: extremely late Day 218 - 221
Where: The Arena in the Thor District
Rating: uh, probably PG-13 at most, for violence?

[ Due to limited player response and sign-ups, we've cut back on how long the tourneys run and had to mix up the tier systems. We had only one entry for Team Magic, so this division has, unfortunately, been cancelled. There will still be a neat-o consolation prize for Kaz and Euri though. Marksmanship and Hand-To-Hand Combat will run on a round-robin tournament set-up, wherein each contestant will face all other contestants within their division once to determine the champion for each division. Swordsmanship will run on a single elimination tier-system until the final tier, at which point we have three remaining contestants (again, due to limited sign-ups). To determine the overall champion of this division, the contestants will be dropped into the multi-terrained ground as detailed in this entry. They'll have twenty-five (25) minutes to knock each other out of the ring. Last one standing wins. Individual Magic will follow the same system as the final tier of Swordsmanship.

All competitions and champions have been determined by the Random Number Generator. The complete layout can be found here. Each Day/Division/Contest will be given a top-level comment below for the involved players to play out their matches if they'd like, as well as for friends and family (or enemies!) to stand around and shout obscenities and all that fun stuff.

A million thank-yous to Kami and Dai for helping out with this, and then another million apologies to all of the players involved that have had to wait on this. I know it's painfully late, and for that, I do sincerely apologise. Life got ahead of me on top of the complications in configuring the mechanics of the tourney. Thanks again for your patience.

If you have any questions or comments, or if both players involved in a match would like to discuss a different outcome of their match, please use the OOC comments section below! Those involved in the three-way Swordsmanship final, we do ask that you pop on in there to let us know how you feel about determining the champion there, because sob it makes sense to none of us, but we will figure it out! We can always just do another RNG roll. Up to you guys!

Aaand we're done! Feel free to start your own threads wherever you'd like. The only thing we ask is that if you plot any cheating, sabotage or other shenanigans that would require interference, let us know. I totally encourage it, so that we can break out some cans of whoop-ass on you hooligans. but other than that, go crazy and have fun! ♥ ]

Who: EVERYONE
What: Winter Festival Banquet
When: Evening of 196 (forward dated to Dec 29)
Where: Every Welcome Hall
Rating: PG-13 or less (anything higher please take to a private log)

[This evening, anyone living in the Welcome Halls will come into the main floor to find a banquet of delicious food from both Yggdrasil and the worlds of anyone attending. There will be plenty of chairs & tables around to sit at and a big fire in the living room fireplace. Your patron god may or may not attend, but keep an eye out for the chance to talk to them! The food will be there all night, and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.

Those who have moved out will recieve texts on their bracelets inviting them to come to dinner. Also, for tonight the discomfort of entering someone else's welcome hall has been lifted, though only for those invited by someone who belongs to this House. Guests are more than welcome! Have a great time, and give us some smiles!]

02 November 2012 @ 12:12 am
[The grey dim light of false dawn has just settled on the city when the sirens sound. The piercing shriek of a modern warning system begins, and within seconds is joined by the low, haunting wail of wood and bone horns from the Elven camp outside the Gate of Fire. A minute later, there is Thor's post to the network.

And now, as the sun slowly rises, the light reveals clouds of dust in the distance, far off to the North and West. In that time, the city will be awakening with a start. Anyone with connections to a god-supported group or to the elves will be roused and rushed off to their jobs. Folkvang comfort house will open its doors, revealing an interior cleared of equipment and converted into a shelter for those who must flee the incoming violence.

The whispers on the streets are of disbelief and fear. Is it really the end of days? Surely the walls will hold against any mundane army. Surely it will all be over soon... right? Healthy natives are saying goodbye to their loved ones "just in case". Perhaps you should be too.

Later, the armies arrive. First the enemy, made up of humans, monsters, and five dragons. The lesser giants look almost human, except for the flame or frost in their eyes and the warm or cool tint to their colouring. But the king of the fire giants is something else. He is tall and broad and strong, riding on a huge, splendid black boar. The queen of the frost giants is equally intimidating, in armor that looks made of glacial ice itself, seemingly too ornate to be practical but clearly worn as if it is. Her mount is a great white serpentine creature that radiates dangerous cold. The other kinds of creatures are uncountable in their variations, but all well armed.

They dwarf the small forces of Asgard and the forward units of the elves, but just as battle is about to break the sound of a great number of clockwork machines heralds the arrival of the full forces of Alfheim. They are joined soon by the modern outfitted soldiers of Utgard, and then the masses of people collide like conflicting waves of water. Above them fly the dragons, and one great flying ship that seems to have come from nowhere but fights on the side of the gods.

What will your characters do? Will they join the front lines? Hide in the shelter? Man the Arena-turned-war-hospital? There are a million things to do in a battle, but not even those hiding will escape the smell of gunpowder and metal and the sounds of battle.]

[ooc note: your characters are welcome to come up with any frost/fire themed monsters you like! They may not directly combat the giant king or queen. They may not fight dragons without first checking in with the mods in this post (and two dragons are already claimed). Try to consider that there will be a second battle, so you can vary what you're doing. Also make sure to read the plot post thoroughly, especially with regards to character death.

Make sure to include the rough time of day in the subject of your top-level comments, as well as if your thread is open or closed. This whole log will only cover Day 168. If you need mod participation/NPCing, please ask us asap and give us some allowance to be slow, since there's a lot going on.

There is a log for the downtime on days 169-170 here, and a full-event log for those staying in the shelter at Folkvang here. There will be a second pair of battle/downtime logs for the second battle (Day 171-172 with downtime on Day 173) posted on Nov 8.

Important note! There will be a lightning speed commentspam thread for taking down the most familiar dragon in this post beginning today at 6pm CST. At that time there will be a mod plurk to let everyone know we're starting. We will also ask those who can to join the AIM chat (asgardchat) at that time so we're all on the same page. It's a thread we want to get done from start to finish as fast as possible/within two evenings, due to mod business. Please don't feel left out if you can't participate in that thread. It's partly an experiment in seeing if this kind of thing works for us, and there's lots else you can do!

Have fun, everyone! If you have questions, please ask on the event post so that everyone else can see them/the answers. Thank you!]

Who: Clinic and Hospital Staff & Other Interested Parties.
What: First Aid Instruction.
When: Day 158, evening.
Where: The Yakuzen Hall, Heimdall.
Rating: PG + Possible mention of injuries/gore.

[As alluded to in his last post, Watson's organized a night of First Aid Instruction open to all interested parties. A brief introduction of the Clinic Staff in attendance is the beginning of procedings, followed by a brief outline by Watson of their topic for that evening -- the basic rules of administering first aid, in particular assessing the needs of a patient and how to procede with or without magical healing ability. After the talk, attendees break into small groups to practice what they have learnt in by simulating treating a patient, applying bandages or discussing in detail the application of their magical abilities. Finally, a light supper of tea, scones and sandwiches is served.]

((ooc: Feel free to mingle/use this as you would!))

23 September 2012 @ 05:12 pm
Who: Sigyn Hospital/Yakuzen Clinic staff, volunteers, the ill, the recovering, and everyone in between.
What: Biological Warfare Plot: Distributing the immunisation.
When: Afternoon Day 148 - Day 149
Where: All across the city.
Rating: We'll say PG-13 for illness/possible violence/possible death. Please make sure to label your threads with appropriate warnings!

[ Following the dragon's less-than-friendly visit on Day 147, the severity of the situation has elevated steadily until the virus has met every district in the city, claimed the lives of many and threatens those of everyone left behind. Even as the good people of the hospital and the clinic work to find a cure for the illness, there's nothing to stop the rise of panic and fear in the citizens as they dread the second plague to claim their city.

So when the treatment is prepared, delivering it to those in need will be no easy task. The medical staff is harshly overworked, many are still grievously ill and those reaching that point are desperate for help. For the men and women working to distribute the immunisation, their work will be difficult but it is no less necessary. These are their stories.

dun dun

Okay, ridiculousness aside, any and all plot information can be found here, the open hospital/clinic log can be found here, and here is where you'll find milestone posts one, two, and three, though responding to any of the above is not required for mingling around this post. This is an open log for the final stage of the attack, wherein people can feel free to run around like big damn heroes and save the city! Huzzah! ]

23 September 2012 @ 07:10 am
Who: Healers, Volunteers, Friends, Concerned Parties, Glee Club and People Being Sick.
What: Biological Warfare Event!
When: Day 147 - 149
Where: The Hospital in Sigyn | Yakuzen Clinic in Heimdall.
Rating: Please warn in individual threads using the subject line! Death / Character Suffering a possibility so please be ready before jumping in.

[General mingle log for the Biological Warfare Plot! Read the ooc planning post for more detailed information, but as a quick guideline:

Day 147 (afternoon/evening): Wave 1 Patients start to develop symptoms - persistent coughing, nausea, dizziness, fever, blister-like burn marks.

Day 148 (morning): Wave 1 Patients worsen, coughing up blood, slipping in and out of consciousness. Hospital staff overwhelmed, Wave 2 Patients start developing symptoms and NPC panic starts.

Day 148 (afternoon/evening): First Wave 1 deaths occur, but Wave 1 patients who survive find their symptoms abating. Work on a immunization starts. Wave 2 Patient's condition worsens. Once developed the immunization is distributed throughout the city.

Day 149: Fully recovered Wave 1 patients join Hospital volunteers in caring for patients, but as the immunization takes effect, symptoms abate and recovery starts.]

Who: THOSE CHARACTERS WHO OPTED OUT OF THE DARKNESS EVENT, or also those who didn't but are taking refuge later on!
What: Chilling and shenanigans in the shelter while everyone else gets horribly killed outside, yaaaay!
When: During the whole event, so... day 128-131.
Where: A random shelter somewhere over the rainbow.
Rating: Let's go with PG-13 for safety reasons. Anything above should be placed in another locked log!

This is a catch-all log for everyone who decided to spare their characters from horrible deaths or possessions or what have you. Someone saved your ass from dem monsters or pulled you out of your cozy room and stuffed you in a shelter where you're going to stay for God knows how long, until the threat is gone. You can get your character to come in at any day of the event, it's not only for those who opted out.

Please put the day your character is staying here in the subject line! For the sake of keeping things neat.

Have fun!

03 August 2012 @ 07:32 am
Who: Everyone!
What: Traveller Fest!
When: Day 123 Afternoon until Evening.
Where: Gefion Park.
Rating: Hopefully G! Mark anything that might raise eyebrows in subject lines please!

[Asgard's Travellers had worked hard for this.

Gefion Park was alive with the sounds of excited voices, chatter, music, applause. The large stage was the centre of the event, Asgard citizens -- traveller and native -- sitting before it on blankets picnic style to watch a play or performance or up and dancing along to an upbeat song and dance routine.

Delicious smells and the sound of laughter drifted from the stalls displaying everything from a businesses' wares to freshly baked cakes, to a club's aims and accomplishments to ramen -- there was something for everyone among the rows of cheerfully decorated tents and stalls. The sweet scent of flowers coaxed into full bloom for the event mingled with the delicious smells of the festival food.

When the warm sun fades into a delightfully cool evening, there will be a firework display. Be sure not to miss it! Until then, mingle with your fellow Travellers enjoying the event, cheer and applaud your friends' performances and enjoy the wares on offer -- at Traveller Fest (almost) anything goes!]

((ooc: Business owners/clubs/performers, I'm going to put up subject headings for stalls/performances, so please comment beneath that with your character's type of performance or the stall they're hosting, eg. 'Dramatic Reading' or 'Singing and Dancing' in the subject line and include a description of your character's act/wares in the comment. It's a mingle log, so feel free to tag anyone anywhere.

It is still not to late to get involved with a performance/stall, whatever you want to do! Please take a quick look here and here to double check that no one else is thinking along similar lines, then go for it. You don't need my permission. If you have questions and I'm not around (unfortunately likely -- we're travelling, and I'm putting this up while I can take advantage of having stable internet access), I am confident that Nakama-mun and Hanako-mun should be able to help you! Also, I am putting this up early deliberately because I don't want to be in a position where I can't post and am holding people back. Please feel free to tag in whenever. Late, early, it's all good.

And finally, thank you guys! Working on this was a little overwhelming oocly, but seeing so many creative ideas come out of it has been really awesome. I'm really looking forward to see what you make of this log -- have fun, Asgard!))

30 July 2012 @ 07:33 pm
Who: Traveller Fest Volunteers - but open to curious by-standers/onlookers. Basically everyone!
What: Setting up the festival -- putting up stalls, decorations, banners, tidying the park, stocking the food stalls, setting up the first-aid tent, sound-checking, doing a dress-rehearsal, practicing performances.
When: Day 119 - Day 122 and morning of Day 123.
Where: All over Gefion Park.
Rating: General -- if anything potentially disturbing occurs, please put a rating in the subject or let me know via e-mail!

[In case the posters, fliers and network posts weren't clue enough that something was happening, the activity in Gefion Park just might give it away. Strange structures are taking place as volunteers get to work putting up the stage and surroundings. The stalls are also taking shape, while volunteers working on decorations add a splash of colour to the park.

Whether you're watching from afar, or right in the heart of the preparations, it's hard not to feel some excitement. From a conversation to a plan to now --

It feels like things are starting to come together.]

((OOC: Catch-all log for the festival preparation! Do not feel limited by the activity I've outlined above, or even by the location. Feel free to have your character putting up posters in the library or handing out fliers in the castle square.))

Who: The Novak family, and friends. All the friends. And possibly their friends. I don't know. I like CR.
What: Housewarming party.
When: Afternoon and evening of day Day 85.
Where: Sigyn paid housing 101.
Warnings: TBA

[The house is kind of bare, in need of furnishing and decorating but it's theirs. It's a second chance at happiness, and while the gods here might not be the friendliest or most mature Jimmy's not willing to risk his family for rebellion.

It's nice to have a house again. The room was cramped, but nowhere near as cramped as spending the past year as a vessel. He was glad to be able to have much needed privacy with his girls, Amelia and Claire.

What's a better way to celebrate than to invite everyone over?

20 May 2012 @ 06:53 pm
Who: Sherlock Holmes & John Watson (movie-verse)
What: A Joyous Reunion between Brothers in all but Blood.
When: Day 83.
Where: Room 304: Thor.
Rating: PG? Holmes, man.

[For all that Holmes was a terrible anon, he was an annoyingly good fugitive. Watson had scoured the city twice already and was just on his way back after the third. He'd checked Holmes' rooms, the other Holmes' rooms, scoured the hospital morgue, pestered chemists, annoyed the tiny urchin that had attatched himself to their modern counterparts and searched every likely and unlikely place in the city.

And for all that, Holmes remained elusive -- and annoyingly obvious. Entering his room, Watson tossed his walking stick and hat on to his bed with uncharacteristic impatience. Shrugging out of his coat, he scowled at the door. It wouldn't be quite so annoying if Holmes was better at keeping his head down, but no. Being unable to find him after the detective had failed so spectacularly at keeping his cover was simply adding insult to injury.]

05 April 2012 @ 08:58 pm
Who: Watson, Clinic Staff, Interested Parties, Random Passers-by, possibly Holmes.
What: A picnic to celebrate the hard work of the clinic staff/get to know each other.
When: Day 62 - mid-day to mid-afternoon!
Where: Gefion Park.
Rating: ... PG for Holmes.

[It was hard to find anywhere in the lavishly tended gardens of Gefion Park to set up a picnic blanket, but eventually Watson found the perfect spot of green grass -- and was it ever green! Surely grass had never been so vibrant? -- lots of sun, shade provided for those who wanted it in the form of some meticulously sculpted evergreens and even enough space to play cricket, should they want to. I'll bring a bat next time, Watson decided before catching himself -- there wouldn't be a next time.

Still, all the more reason to spend what time they had left together in fun. He'd lost Holmes -- or Holmes had lost interest and wandered off while Watson was making the preparations for the picnic, but Watson had no doubt that his friend would find him again when he was ready -- and hopefully there would be some members of the picnic party around to introduce when he did. Until then --

The day was warm, and there was a cool beer in the hamper with his name written all over it. Hanging jacket on the box-hedge, and discarding his tie with it, Watson rolled up his sleeves before settling back in the sun with his beer, utterly content.]
