- Day 515 ( Sept. 25/26 )
- Progress through the ice blockade will be slow and narrow, as they can't possibly hope to clear the entirety of the forest that has been buried under Thiazi's black ice. Now that they know the source of her magic's corruption, it might not come as a great surprise when cracking open the ice unleashes a strange burst of magic.
At the halfway point between Utgard and Asgard, a pulse of energy will move through the entire city, immediately putting every mortal it touches to sleep. This part of the curse is mandatory and your character must fall asleep; the dream effects of it are not mandatory, and can be played with at your discretion. During this first wave, Travellers will be granted a brief dream - that does not belong to them. They will see, from the dreamer's point of view, every hope and goal and aspiration that the dreamer wishes to complete before the end of days. Whether it's simply confessing their love to an old friend or saving their home planet or perfecting an Asgardian pie, your character will see someone else's ideal resolution before Ragnarok. More on plotting this below!
Upon waking, the Travellers will be plagued with the indistinct whispering of several voices overlapping one another and a slight headache. Both symptoms will gradually increase over time until it reaches incapacitating pain and nausea. The only way to assuage the symptoms is to find the owner of the dream and either maintain physical contact for an hour or discuss the subject of the dream until a full confession has been made. After that, the symptoms will fade and the Travellers will be free to carry on with their day.
There will be other pulses of magic at random throughout the day; these are not mandatory and you can feel free to have your character experience as many or as few dreams as you wish. All dream-sharing will cease by the end of the day, as the blockade progresses past that centre-point of magic.
Day 515
[Maribelle had just been heading out to train when the first wave struck, and she fell back, striking her head on the ground. She's uncertain as to what she sees, but it's certainly not hers. When the dream is over, she remains unconscious for a little, mostly due to the sickening crack her head had made on the pavement. IT's nothing life-threatening, thankfully, but there does seem to be a risk for exacerbating it.]
[Open]
[This time, she knows better. She sits in what passes for the common area of Freya, stubbornly refusing to stand up, lest she suffer another blow to her head and her ego.]
A
[Even still, you run through the hospital, your heart pounding as you go. You're tense, though not over the weird surroundings -- which looked nothing like a hospital. Hospitals were not made of staircases that twisted and turned on themselves, nor populated by nurses that had eyes like a photographic lenses. Physics itself seemed to be broken, as random objects would just randomly fly off into no where, for no reason other than it just felt like it. You don't know why it's this way, and you don't care either; your destination is finally in sight.]
[It was just a door, like any other door, but unlike the surroundings which are bleak and a haze of red and black, this door is bright and cheerful. Your hand reaches out, shoving the door aside, and inside is as normal of a hospital room as you would expect. The surroundings are as bright and cheerful as the door itself, and there are two people inside you know very well. The older man -- your mentor, partner, friend; things you would never say to his face -- has his little daughter -- sweet, precious, adorable; things everyone else says, so you never felt the need to say it yourself -- in the hospital bed with him. He's hugging her and laughing with her, like the world isn't falling apart, but that's okay. They're supposed to be happy, even when you're not.]
[He looks up at you then, a curious look on his face, and his daughter twists around on his lap, her expression brightening at the sight of you.]
Hn...? What do you look so out of breath for?
[You don't say anything, but you do step forward... before bowing humbly. You speak, and although no sound comes out, you know what you said:]
I'm sorry.
[There is an awkward pause, before the older man finally chuckled. You peek up at him, just in time to see his fist come thumping on top of your head.]
You idiot. You think I don't know that already?
[His daughter giggled, mimicking the action from her father, though it didn't hurt nearly as much. You stand upright, and your vision is blurry, but you don't care. Nothing matters except for the fact they actually forgive you.]
--
[Adachi groaned as he pushed himself up, planting a hand on his face and wondering what the hell that was. He wasn't the type to randomly pass out, but for once luck sided with him, and he had only slumped against a building. Still, his neck was stiff as he crawled back up to his feet, and he tried to work it back and forth with a little success.]
[He shuffled off after a moment, trying to piece together what had happened. There was... something in his dreams, he knew that much, but it wasn't like any kind of dream he would ever have. It was too damn happy, and he didn't even know half the people he had been dreaming about.]
[Thoughts of that weirdness went flying out the window as soon as he rounded the corner. His eyes widened when he caught sight of Maribelle laying prone on the street, and found himself running over to her before he could stop himself.]
H-hey, Maribelle?! You okay?
no subject
And then the dream ended, and she heard a voice - the same voice as one of those she'd heard in the dream. She stirred, groaning at the dull, throbbing pain in her head, but didn't wake up just yet.]
Mm...
no subject
...dammit.
[He reached for his tie at first, before thinking better of it and shrugging off his jacket instead, folding it up tight and setting it on the ground. Forcing himself to breathe, his brain rushing with all the first aid seminars and emergency training he had gone through, he carefully, carefully lifted her head off the ground with both hands. He could feel himself trembling, trying so hard not to jostle her as he scooted the jacket under her with a knee, before setting her head back down again.]
[Adachi fell back after that, letting out the breath he'd been holding. This trying to save lives thing was way too stressful for him; how the hell had kids been doing it for almost a year?]
M-Maribelle...?
no subject
Tohru...?
[He looked worried. How long had she been unconscious?]
Are you alright?
no subject
You're the one bleeding from a head wound, and you're asking me that?
[He rested a hand on her side, a careful eye on her head injury.]
Don't move around so much; I dunno how bad it is.
no subject
[Much, much worse - but he doesn't know that... well, not much of it, anyway.]
What happened? I had such a strange dream.
no subject
[He grinned faintly, getting comfortable. Like hell he wasn't going to worry; he was letting her bleed all over his jacket. Of course he was going to worry.]
Mine was... pretty cheerful though, but... I didn't know the people I was dreaming about.
no subject
[She didn't know how else to describe it. But then...]
Oh! Did you dream?
no subject
[He paused, scratching at the back of his head.]
...I didn't know anyone in my dream. Just that they were people I 'knew' and 'loved', and... well, it was weird. Like I was practicing law, but not any kind of law I'd ever learned about.
[And he swore he heard wedding bells, which... no. Hell no. Absolutely no. Nope, never, no.]
no subject
[Truth be told, she's a little embarrassed about that. A lady of Ylisse does not simply faint.]
Goodness. That sounds almost nostalgic...

He's seen Maribelle around enough to smile at her wearily as he comes in.]
Quite some disturbance we are having today, no?
no subject
Yes, indeed. I wonder what in heaven's name could be causing such an inconvenience?
no subject
May I join you in sitting? I do not think attempting to take stairs at the moment is a wise choice.
no subject
Of course. Would you care for some tea? I just finished letting a lovely citrus blend steep.
no subject
Being nudged several times by her Longtoothed Reinhare, Yuiko finally woke up though. The sleeves of her pajamas were drapped over her hands while she carried Cocoa in her arms thinking the pet might have needed to go outside. Seeing the other sitting in the common area though Yuiko paused for a moment, a small spark seeming to go off in her head.]
Umm, Maribelle-san?
no subject
She's jerked out of her rather grouchy train of thought by a familiar voice, and looks up to see Yuiko there.]
Oh! Hello, dear. I was just having some tea. Would you like some?
no subject
Yes please.
[Walking over to where she was Yuiko took a seat near Maribelle. Yuiko thought that it looked kind of like there was something on her mind, or that something was annoying Maribelle from the expression she had seen.]
Is everything alright?
no subject
Hm? Oh, yes, I suppose, apart from all these blasted dreams.
no subject
You had a dream too?
[Ah that was it, that was what had caught her attention. Maybe the dream that she had was suppose to be Maribelle's and they had gotten switched up like when your phone accidentally picked up someone else's call.]
What was it about?
no subject
[She sighs, then, closing her eyes.]
I'm afraid it's not for me to tell, Yuiko. How are you doing, by the by? I haven't seen you in awhile. I was beginning to get a little worried.
no subject
[She had though that it might have been. At the question about how she had been Yuiko smiles a little, she was still a little tired and had a small headache.]
I've been alright. Lately I've been helping to clear the ice using my energy transfer when everyone gets tired and helping to take water and drinks around to everyone so they don't get thirsty.
no subject
[The look on Yuiko's face does not go unnoticed, and Maribelle looks at her with concern in her eyes.] Darling, are you alright? You look positively dreadful.
That sounds lovely of you. I have been training in the physical arts of combat, studying medicine, and practicing my Charm abilities.
no subject
I know you said you couldn't talk about someone else's dream, but is it alright to talk to that person if you had theirs?
no subject
I suppose it would be, Yuiko. Do you happen to know the person whose dream you shared?
