[Arya makes a face.] Everything hurts. It feels like I'm on fire.

That seems to be the trend, yes.

[ Oh, don't cough in front of her. Don't show her weakness when she needs to keep strong. He swallows it down with a grimace - it burns more in your chest than in your throat - and lets out a shaky exhale once it's past. ]

The dragon what wrought this upon the city - I wonder if it is its breath now that lies within our chest now.

I wonder how dragons stand it? [But the mention of the dragon has made her sad again; she's always had something of a reverence for the very idea of them, and since meeting Daenerys that increased tenfold. She was well aware that they were capable of terrible destruction - the blackened ruin of Harrenhal was proof enough of that - but she never thought that one would hurt her in this way.]

[ Arthur's only ever known a quiet fear of them. His father had them all slain in his realm; all but one, and when the Great Dragon came free, the first thing it did was attack his people, burn his city. An unfathomed fear he'd had to face head on, and now it's coursing through his veins as Hellfire. ]

Perhaps it's to do with the leather of their skin.

[ A poor joke, one that falls short in a sudden wave of nausea that has him pressing his fingers firmly between his brows, eyes squeezed shut. He doesn't move when he speaks again, but he makes a point of keeping his voice clear for her, firm where the rest of him is burning away. ]

Men are fragile creatures, Arya. Our flesh can be rendered by anything from steel to a harsh wind, our life's blood drained from a single puncture or spoilt by berries and herbs.

[ Arthur does not fear death. He fears the pain before the end of everything, the suffering that comes before it. He fears dragons, for they are timeless and all powerful and they, too, can fall. He lowers his hand with a heavy exhale, and forces a pained smile as he looks back to her. ]

It's when we refuse to bow that makes us mighty. I told you you've a warrior's spirit. Strength comes from within; we fight and we do not bow. That is how Men can be as great as dragons. Do you understand?

[Arya nods understanding, but it's very clear that the fight is leaving her eyes. She would stand up against men and giants and dragons and gods, stand her ground and fight with every ounce of her strength, but disease was something else, something she was helpless against as it ravaged her body. She felt so frail. But she was determined not to show weakness, not in front of someone she admired as much as Arthur.]

Dragons are great and powerful, but in the end, their power only lies in destruction. Men build. Men conquer. That's what makes us great.

[She smiles weakly.]

That's right. And you and your brother are among the greatest I have known, little Stark.

[ They are too young and too wise, too full of life to be so burdened. Arthur can't speak for the hardships of Westeros, but he knows without a doubt that he would stand beside them in their fight. ]

You must stay strong, all right? This will be over soon.

[ Hopefully. Maybe. ]
