END OF ARC 1: DAY 169-170 DOWNTIME

[The first battle is over, but the second will begin any time. For two days, the enemy forces will remain on the other side of the battlefield, working on strategy and tending to their wounded. Both sides have taken heavy losses, and the Arena is full of the hurt and dying.

The battlefield itself has turned to a bloody, muddy mess. The elves will be asking the Army Engineers group and anyone else willing to help them lay timber and gravel out to make the ground easier to walk on for the next battle.

What will you do in your breathing space? Keep working, mourn your losses, or retreat from the horrors of war?]

Yeah. We have to, or they might stay too long in the living world and become Hollows. And Hollows eat other souls, so then we have to take care of them.

[Welp that sounds facinating, doesn't it]

[Really though, Ichigo's impressed. He wouldn't know the first thing about any of that, or even how to make it move.]

You going to be safe enough in this thing?

[After all, he doesn't want anyone getting hurt-or worse.]

[He tries to change the subject now.]

But, your power is pretty amazing. [He comments on her forest again.] Could you always make trees this tall?

[ And she's grateful for it, as she tries to loosen up and relax. ]

Um... well, not really. At first, I was a low level and I could barely grow one plant at a time. But then I received some power boosting overtime, and now I can have these results.

Er... I think it was like a centipede? [ Pause. ] Do you know what a centipede is?

[burntviolet]

... Not much, admittedly. [ She can't rest for too long without feeling guilty about it. Even now, she's regretting not having enough energies to go back to help who needed it. ]

It's really impressive. [then even his measly healing power can become stronger.] The enemy will definitely have trouble getting through something like that.

She can be of far more use here, especially if she is inexperienced in combat. That battlefield is no place for the untrained.

[He hates this, wishes he could fight it alone and protect all these people - all these normal people who never chose to be warriors - from the horrors of war.]

What does she look like? If I see her out there I will return her to the city.

Okay... Thank you, Ichigo-san.

[She begins to eat away at the food as he leaves. She may have been doubtful before, but after a few bites her stomach begins to remember just how hungry it is. It doesn't take long for her to demolish a good portion of the meal.]

[you see nothing. Plenty of ways to brush it off. 'wouldn't have heard the end of it from ezio', 'can hardly let you get out of the fighting', 'then who will I hire for a replacement', but he doesn't say any of that. He's tired, and it seems out of place during times like this. Dying is not a laughing matter. Not ever.

Not even here.]

It is nothing.

[And they march on. But it shouldn't be much further, now.]

... I'm not too hopeful about that. [ Anything with fire might burn that stuff down, that's what she's mostly afraid of. ]

[There are kinks to work out here. things that catch on the corners of his mind and irk him - how would Ezio know the level of loyalty of those brought up in the order? A comparison such as that is not one to be made lightly, but then careful consideration follows, smoothing over the sting.

But then, Ezio brings up something new. Malik very nearly recoils, disgust visible on his face.]

Oh? With the thoughts and ideas we give them, is it?

[Eyes narrowed, tone sharp. He looks every bit alert, gone tense and still. Waits for it. It reeks of the Apple and its manipulation, it reeks of control.]

And you expect me to approve of this?

[He knows that look far too well, and to be perfectly honest, was expecting it. Ezio shakes his head at the question, explaining himself.]

I would be lying if I said I believed you would. And I know it does not sound like something we would do. [He pauses, gestures, considers his words carefully.] If you would permit it, I can explain how it is different from what you think it is. That we do not force them to take or believe anything a certain way- everything they do is a choice of their own.

[singlehandedly]

So you know what I am thinking of. [And that's a whole different issue rearing its ugly head right there.]

I do not want us to control or limit what it is the people of this city think. Whatever the methods, it is not ours to decide or pick and choose what goes on in another mind. Or is that how you usually make allies?

[sicarius]

And we do not do either. [His voice is firmer at this- not to challenge or to rise against the other's, but to make a point.]

We have no part in what they pick and choose to take. It is as if they are informants, Malik. We give them information, but that is all we do. It is up to them to choose what to do with it.

[Discussing this is tense, but he wouldn't expect any less. It is not an easy subject, and he hopes by the way he is explaining himself and the methods, that he means well for everyone in the Order, not to betray the Creed nor do anything that a Templar would.]

I do not force them to do anything, either here or back home. They are the ones who define themselves from it, not I. Their color, their personality, their stances on life- that is their choice, their decision, their individuality. I have not controlled that nor shoved it in any way to benefit us.

[he shakes his head.]

If you didn't trust in it, you wouldn't make it, right? I think it'll be fine.

I think it can hold for the most, but... I don't know. I never tried testing my plants' strength.

Uh...a centipede is like a caterpillar but it's black and has a lot more legs right?

[He's uncomfortable with touching people but he's putting it aside for this. Spencer feels like he has to be helpful in some way.]

Teenage girl, long red hair, cute as a button if I do say so myself. Her name is Alexis. Maybe you can convince her to become a nurse instead.
