- Day 407 ( Feb. 21/22 )
- [ The thick cloud coverage from yesterday turns dark and vicious, enough so to blot out the morning sun and cast Asgard into prolonged darkness. Thunder will begin to crackle across the city, seemingly far away at first as the storm builds, and growing louder with each passing minute going past noon.
As per the Holes event from November, Storm Spirits from the Percy Jackson franchise will sweep through the streets, sometimes alone and sometimes in groups of two or three. They will not discriminate between Demigod, Traveller, or native as they shock them, run them down, or sweep them up into the air. They are metaphysical creatures, which means combating them will be relatively difficult, but don't worry for too long.
Just as the sun sets ( though it still can't be seen behind the pitch black cloud coverage spider-webbed with small bursts of lightning ), a final crack of thunder will rumble across the entire kingdom, sounding near enough to a rockslide beneath their feet and above their heads. The sky will flash in a violent burst of lightning, bright enough to cast the sky in an unearthly white and blue that lasts several seconds before fading. Torrential rain will pour above an unnatural silence; the Storm Spirits are gone, and the natives will have gone bone white with fear. Even the animal life in the city will not deign to bark or howl.
The silence persists until Heimdall addresses the network with an announcement on February 22. Stay tuned to find out more! ]

[She glances around at that suggestion with a nod of agreement, moving to follow.]
Yeah. We should find somewhere safer, less exposed.

The nearest place is a small sandwich shop. The door is locked, but that doesn't stop him for long. Once they're in he hears the frightened sounds of someone behind the register darting into a back room. One of the residents must have been hiding behind there while watching the happenings outside through the windows. He ignores them, focusing on the girl's injury instead. There should be enough here to make do.]
Take a seat. I'm going to get a tablecloth and see what I can use for a splint.
no subject
She follows, looking around and instinctively almost moving to hide or pursue the hiding person. But she stops, listening and nodding to him.]
Okay. I'll wait here.
[Sitting on a nearby chair, she waits patiently, keeping an eye out as best she can, used to positioning herself with a good view of her surroundings.]
no subject
He begins ripping the tablecloth into strips for bandages, leaving some for the sling they'll want after.]
Hold still.
no subject
I will. Thanks for helping.
no subject
[He works swiftly but carefully. The sooner they get out of here, the sooner they can find a real healer - but he doesn't want to hurt her by rushing.
The arm is splinted, and he ties the makeshift sling so that it rests around her neck.]
I should not have to tell you to avoid shifting it around too much.
no subject
[She simply remains still, wincing and biting back crying out while he works. She gives a nod and a grateful smile as he warns her about moving it.]
Right. I will be careful.
no subject
[He glances back to the door the citizen had fled into, but there's no sign that they'll be coming out again any time soon.]
no subject
[It is implied by the 'we' there, which Clementine takes note of. That he seems to trust her and is worried enough for her to stick around. Which she appreciates, even if she isn't outright saying so yet. Her arm does feel a bit better already, her other hand now free if she does need to use her pistol at least.]
no subject
We might as well go back out together, so that I can see to it you find someone. It would be irresponsible of me to leave you on your own while you're hurt.
no subject
[But. Really, Clementine knows he is right. There's not a lot she can do right now with her arm, and her pistol is clearly not going to be the most effective weapon against these storm spirits. So she reluctantly agrees, nodding as she stands.]
The clinic. There should be healers around there, if you help me get there, I'll be fine.
no subject
Right. We'll head directly there.
[He checks out the window. It's not perfectly clear, but he doubts it will be for some time. Any time will be as good as any other.]
no subject
When you're ready. I'll follow and watch your back.
no subject
He hasn't been here long, but it's a top priority of his to know his surroundings, so he's walked around and studied the maps of the city enough to get a good feel for it. He knows which way to go to get to the clinic.]
Make sure to stay close.
[It might mean a lightning strike would hit both of them, but it's still better to have her within grabbing range in case he needs to adjust their course suddenly.]
no subject
[Clementine gives a nod of agreement and reassurance, letting him in front if he wants to. She follows nearly alongside but behind enough to be able to keep an eye on things behind them, just in case. For all the trouble back home, she has learned a lot from her experiences with the walkers. But she knows the way, her feet almost seeming to move themselves forward as she keeps an eye out around them, making their way slowly, cautiously.]
We're nearly there now....
no subject
[Thankfully they hadn't been too far to begin with, or this venture would have been a lot more troublesome. He won't consider them out of danger until they reach it, however. Most likely not even then.]
Don't let your guard down and don't run for it without me.
[She's handling this better than most civilians her age, which gains her points in his book.]
no subject
[Plus, running...only tends to draw more attention, from Clementine's experience. Best to take it cautiously and slowly. They'll get there. She's learned to be more patient, that it takes time but it is safer. It's not far now, but she won't let down her guard until they reach the clinic and get inside. Even then, there's the potential for buildings to get damaged from the lightning. But it's the only option that for sure there would be healers around, closer than Sigyn. This isn't the first time she has hurt her arm and needed to find help. At least this time she found someone and isn't wandering alone.
She's still on hair trigger, watching anyone around warily, looking up to the sky regularly and instantly crying out a warning when she sees one spirit look like they are heading down towards them.]
Itachi!
no subject
At her shout, he glances up. Immediately his flashlight is out, separating his shadow from the rest of the darkened ground so that he can solidify it and pull it upward like a large shield - a spiked shield if he can manage it. He's still unused to these abilities, so he's doing the best he can to be inventive.
He moves to put himself between her and the creature in the event that this fails.]
no subject
It gives her so many memories. So many others back home trying to protect her and still all ending up dead. But no. That doesn't mean Itachi would die. There is only one. So long as they can stop it or scare it off just long enough to run....]
Itachi....
no subject
He can hear the girl behind him, can tell that she's frightened. It's reasonable for someone in her situation, even if she's stronger than most. She isn't screaming, and that's a blessing. The ninja can't spare her a glance when she says his name. He has to worry about the current threat.
The spikes on the shield expand but don't seem to do much. Unable to properly skewer it, he tries something else. He pulls them all back in, then has them pop back out again in an instant, sending the creature flying. That, at least, might provide them with a momentary respite.]
Now is when we need to run. Let's go.
no subject
It's only once she gets inside, once they close the door of the clinic that she somewhat starts to calm down, panting and clutching the injured arm and nearly immediately spotted by one of her fellow healers.]
Thank you. I'm not sure I might have made it without you helping me.
no subject
She might have been able to do it on her own, but the process would have been much slower, and she would have had to exercise even more caution. If he was the sort of person who consoled others he might have told her this, but as it is he just nods his head as a way of telling her she's welcome.
Once he pulls his eyes away from the mess outside, he sees to it that someone's properly looking after her.]
I will stay here - watch for more wounded and help protect those already inside.
no subject
[He gets a nod in return, and a faint smile as she is herded away to be healed. Really, Clementine is slowly learning to trust in the people in Asgard after having things so damned rough back home. It's taking time, but Itachi and others are helping her work through it, whether or not they are aware of it.
It thankfully doesn't take long though, to get her arm healed thanks to the clinic having plenty of healers helping out as usual in any crisis. Clementine helps out herself, making a quick break to check in on Itachi regularly.]
