EVENT MINGLE: AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

What: The event mingle for the And A Happy New Year event.

DAY 555 (Dec 14-15)

As the last of the black ice is cleared from the city - and the last of its natives wake from their gray slumber - a cautious winter celebration begins. The city itself opens its doors wide to the allied forces still camped outside it and the natives invite the Travelers to observe the beginning of Winter and the approach of the end of the Asgardian year with them.

The day begins with what seems like a typical party in the streets. There is food, music, and an attitude of general warmth and hope from the Natives that hasn't been quite so present in a long time. It will be interrupted in the early afternoon by a snowball fight that starts in one sector of the city and quickly snowballs out of control. For a few hours, the city itself will become a veritable warzone, with most of the city's native children and adults alike getting in on the fight! Watch your back and take no prisoners. DAY 556 (Dec 16-17)

Day 556 sees a brief return to old - and maybe familiar - tricks. The festivities continue on outside, but some Travelers throughout the course of the day may find themselves influenced by magical impulse… all in the name of good holiday fun, of course.

The effects of these miniature curses will last anywhere between ten minutes and an hour and happen spontaneously, and most of them are echoes of similar curses that have been laid upon the city before. Travelers may find themselves:

• Unable to lie or actively compelled to blurt truths, consequences be damned
• Only able to communicate in poetry or song
• Given a nagging urge to (sincerely!) compliment anyone they come across
• Compelled to just hold hands with whoever they're near
• Caught under sprigs of magic mistletoe that seem to appear at arbitrary times at equally arbitrary places (though they can either be kissed or just wait a few minutes for it to disappear again)

Your character can be affected by as many and as often as you'd like, but none of them are mandatory. To reward the Travelers for putting up with that silliness one final time, they will find in their rooms that night a basket of chocolate, a horrendously ugly Christmas sweater, and one item from home. The item can be anything that fits within the game's technological and magical rules! If you'd like your character to receive something, please just drop a comment HERE to get it approved.

DAY 557 (Dec 18-19)

Day 557 marks the final day of celebration. That evening, twinkling, magical fairy lights will cover the edges of buildings and the branches of trees all over the city. There are light displays of amazing proportion all over the city, and the Welcome Halls are done up in entirely their signature color. the Travelers will be invited into the castle again for a ball much like the one last year. Thor will announce the end of curfew and tell everyone to party hard, because the hunt for both Surt and a way to heal the World Tree will begin after this.

The party will last until midnight, when everyone will be shuffled out into the courtyard for a brilliant fireworks display. It represents both the victory over Thiazi and the hope that the celebration of this coming new year will not be the last.

"I am an old man spying on people" He points out amusedly. "Although spying is perhaps the wrong word."

And then he blinks, startled.

"Hamel?"

That was... unusual.

Hamel looks about as confused. Where did that come from? Oh sure, he supposes he might've possibly maybe thought about it for a second, but saying it out loud? He didn't drink too much yesterday, did he?

"What."

"I am healing you know." Maglor says in mild confusion. "I thank you for the worry, however. But... Hamel are you well?"

Because he knows you are nicer than you like to think but no seriously YOU SAID YOU WERE WORRIED

Hamel is already puzzled and mildy apprehensive over his weird slip, and the look Maglor gives him is certainly not helping. He puts his hands hips and snaps:

"What kinda stupid question is that? Of course I'm well, you're projecting."

"What, I can't ask a friend how he's... feeling... wait iwasn'tgonnasaythat."

"Of course you may, but Hamel, this is not your normal behavior."

A slight smile "And although I knew it, I amam grateful to hear that you consider us friends. "

"Don't be grateful! Do you know how hard it I'm trying to push all of you idiots away are you fucking kidding me what is even happening right now!"

Maglor pushes down the part of himself that wants to giggle at Hamel's obvious frustration and keeps his voice level.

"I do not know - you are being... unusually forthright today. Perhaps... there is some trick our Patrons are playing?"

You did not insult Loki recently did you Hamel?

Hamel huffs. He only likes being forthright when it's to insult people.

"I don't care why it happens, I just want it to stop. Shouldn't they have better things to do than pull this shit off?"

[bythewaves]

Relaxing a bit now they have a possible explanation Maglor shrugs wryly

"You know as well as I that they enjoy such pranks from time to time. Tis also getting close to the time of my previous arrival, when they gave unusual gifts no? Perhaps it is a way for them to relax a little before the next wave hits."

[abhero]

"Well it's a shitty way to relax!" There is an actual foot stomp in this tantrum. "Drinking is relaxing. Fishing is relaxing. Making innocent people spill secrets isn't fucking relaxing and I expect to get something especially nice as compensation!"

[bythewaves]

Maglor shakes his head at Hamel fondly.

"You know as well as I that they will do what they will, and all we may do is seek to survive it. If you scold you may well be granted something even worse in response!"

[abhero]

Hamel crosses his arms sullenly, shoulders hunching.

"Can't think of many things that'll be worse than this."

[bythewaves]

"Your lips to their ears my friend - have a care lest they take you up on such a challenge!"

[abhero]

He isn't being hyperbole - it's the curse. Apart from snapping and going Mazoku on people, there's nothing Hamel finds worse than having to blurt out secrets.

"You think they'll steal my money?!"

Well, almost nothing.

[bythewaves]

"I am sure they might not have even considered it until you said so. You know they hear more than we like to sometimes think."

Maglor may be trolling.

Gaaaaasssssp!

"Don't say that kinda stuff, not even as a joke!" He nudges the wheel with his foot again. "They do that and I'm going on a strike. No world saving!"

Maglor chuckles in response.

"Aye aye, but you had best not say it too loudly either! They have surprised us before, after all."
