Who: Everyone!
What: The event mingle for the Into the Fire event.
When: Days 561-563.
Where: Everywhere. Literally.
Rating: PG-13 tops! If it gets worse, move to a private log please.

DAY 561 (Dec 27)
On the night of Day 561, Travelers in Asgard may find themselves going home while they sleep, though perhaps not on the sort of terms that they're used to. They will find their feet planted firmly on the ground in their home worlds with all memories of Asgard in tact, but they will be completely unable to interact with anyone or anything. It will be almost like they have been thrust into a very realistic holographic recreation of what was happening in their world whenever they were brought to Asgard.

They may stay for a few minutes or for up to a few hours, and may appear anywhere in their world, and as stated before will be unable to actually interact in any capacity.

DAY 562 (Dec 28-29)
Starting on Day 562, a touch to any Longtoothed Reinhare will no longer bring just visions of your home or loved ones. Your character may begin seeing people and places that or she has no way of recognizing. That night, when they sleep, they may "appear" in a world that does not belong to them alongside the person it does belong to.. Just as before, they will not be able to interact with or affect the environment. A character visiting the dreamlike impression of another person's canon will not be able to get more than fifteen feet away from his or her "host" before waking abruptly.

DAY 563 (Dec 30-31)
On Day 563, characters may find themselves mentally slipping into other worlds whenever their eyes are shut without the need of a "host" at all. On this day, the locations won't be limited to just the worlds of people currently in the city. The canons of any character who has ever been in game are fair game on this day and night. Some people may even find themselves drifting through parts of the world of Asgard as it currently is: dwarves working hard in the mountains, the merfolk living at peace, the remains of the frost giants wandering aimlessly in the ruins of Thrymheim.

Who: Everyone!
What: The event mingle for the And A Happy New Year event.
When: Days 555-557
Where: Anywhere in town!
Rating: PG-13 tops! If it gets worse, move to a private log please.

DAY 555 (Dec 14-15)
As the last of the black ice is cleared from the city - and the last of its natives wake from their gray slumber - a cautious winter celebration begins. The city itself opens its doors wide to the allied forces still camped outside it and the natives invite the Travelers to observe the beginning of Winter and the approach of the end of the Asgardian year with them.

The day begins with what seems like a typical party in the streets. There is food, music, and an attitude of general warmth and hope from the Natives that hasn't been quite so present in a long time. It will be interrupted in the early afternoon by a snowball fight that starts in one sector of the city and quickly snowballs out of control. For a few hours, the city itself will become a veritable warzone, with most of the city's native children and adults alike getting in on the fight! Watch your back and take no prisoners. (NOTE: Please check THIS LINK for player plot information about the snowball fight!)

DAY 556 (Dec 16-17)
Day 556 sees a brief return to old - and maybe familiar - tricks. The festivities continue on outside, but some Travelers throughout the course of the day may find themselves influenced by magical impulse… all in the name of good holiday fun, of course.

The effects of these miniature curses will last anywhere between ten minutes and an hour and happen spontaneously, and most of them are echoes of similar curses that have been laid upon the city before. Travelers may find themselves:
  • Unable to lie or actively compelled to blurt truths, consequences be damned
  • Only able to communicate in poetry or song
  • Given a nagging urge to (sincerely!) compliment anyone they come across
  • Compelled to just hold hands with whoever they're near
  • Caught under sprigs of magic mistletoe that seem to appear at arbitrary times at equally arbitrary places (though they can either be kissed or just wait a few minutes for it to disappear again)

Your character can be affected by as many and as often as you'd like, but none of them are mandatory. To reward the Travelers for putting up with that silliness one final time, they will find in their rooms that night a basket of chocolate, a horrendously ugly Christmas sweater, and one item from home. The item can be anything that fits within the game's technological and magical rules! If you'd like your character to receive something, please just drop a comment HERE to get it approved.

DAY 557 (Dec 18-19)
Day 557 marks the final day of celebration. That evening, twinkling, magical fairy lights will cover the edges of buildings and the branches of trees all over the city. There are light displays of amazing proportion all over the city, and the Welcome Halls are done up in entirely their signature color. the Travelers will be invited into the castle again for a ball much like the one last year. Thor will announce the end of curfew and tell everyone to party hard, because the hunt for both Surt and a way to heal the World Tree will begin after this.

The party will last until midnight, when everyone will be shuffled out into the courtyard for a brilliant fireworks display. It represents both the victory over Thiazi and the hope that the celebration of this coming new year will not be the last.

Who: Everyone!
What: The event mingle for the Friends, Indeed event.
When: Day 546 & 547
Where: Anywhere in town!
Rating: PG-13 tops! If it gets worse, move to a private log please.

DAY 546 (Nov 26-27)
A message will arrive at the gates that more reinforcements from other cities are on the way. The death of the Frost Giants' queen has not gone unnoticed by the rest of the world -- not in small because it also means that the prophecy following Ragnarok can no longer happen as foretold. Unable to sit back and rely on fate now, groups of varying sizes from all over begin to arrive. First come scholars and medics from Vanaheim, followed by a ragtag but enthusiastic militia from Salt Side and other nearby villages, followed still by a military force of gruff and grumpy dwarves from Svartalfheim bringing with them a vast and diverse array of weapons to share.

They set up their semi-permanent camps outside the gates of the city - though many of them can be frequently found inside of the city too, and for the most part these new allies seem ready to learn about and contribute to whatever resources Asgard and its Travelers have already. Everyone in the camp seems to be prepared to stay there until the war for Yggdrasil is over, and especially so now: it's anyone's guess how Surt will react with Thiazi now permanently out of play.

DAY 547 (Nov 28-29)
On the morning of Day 547, every character with a bracelet will receive an invite from Freyr to come the courtyard of the castle at nightfall. The ice will be completely cleared from it, and a few magically tended bonfires will provide a gentle, radiating heat that keeps most of the area comfortably warm. As some of the castle's maids pass out snacks and hot cocoa in warm mugs, he will give a short speech to and then makes a small request of those who arrive.

Who: EVERYONE going to Utgard to gather supplies or get curse-drunk
What: the All In This Together mingle log
When: Days 521-522 ( Oct. 7-10 )
Where: Asgard, Utgard, and the road between
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

Day 521 ( Oct. 7/8 )
Early in the morning, a large caravan will be preparing to make way to Utgard for the biggest supply haul Asgard's seen in many many years. The city has been hurting under the shortages and there's a lot to make up for, so the natives will happily and gratefully enlist the assistance of any of the Travellers willing to go with them. The Supplies Coordinators in particular will be organising the wagons by demand, assigning each one with a specific task to make sure that everything they need is purchased. This will take a few hours of coordination and accepting assignments, so work together to form groups and hop onboard for a two-day trip to Utgard.

It's a half-day ride, and the going will be somewhat rough. The ice demolition only cleared enough of the blockade to allow travel; they couldn't get rid of the ice in its entirety, so the caravan will be moving through a long hallway of rough, jagged black ice. It will chill the air, unsettle the horses as well as the natives themselves, and in the eerie silence, the Travellers might be able to hear more indistinct whispering that seems to surround them as they move onward. Touching the ice is still dangerous, so be careful and hold tight until you reach the other side.

Before you can even get started on their mission for supplies, however, the caravan will arrive to find Utgard alive with explosive celebration. The Utgard natives are ceaselessly grateful for the clearing of the ice, and will greet the caravan with bright lights, banners, streamers, confetti, and countless other decorations littering the streets with joviality. As the Travellers step out of their wagons, the natives will be handing them handmade trinkets of gratitude - necklaces, bracelets, masks, even silly hats or capes. These items can be themed in any way you want them to be, or you can have an amalgamated costume of a dozen different things, as the natives won't be any means of conservative in the gifts they shower upon the Travellers.

Among those gifts are booths of free food and drink lining the streets. Be cautious of one in particular, though: the natives seem to favour a certain drink that comes in an endless variety of colours and moves in glowing swirls within their glasses like living galaxies in motion. These drinks will taste different for everyone, calling to mind their favourite flavours that might change from sip to sip, but the effects will be the same. About a half hour after the first drink, people will begin to feel light and bubbly, like the beginnings of being drunk even though the drink itself isn't actually alcoholic in nature, but it will quickly devolve into tactile inclinations ( wanting to touch everything and everyone ) as well as a little bit of character impressions. The partiers will find themselves entranced by bits and pieces of their costumes and start emulating them, acting out the part of whichever character ( or characters! ) they're dressed as.

The curse will wear off as soon as the affected goes to sleep, but the celebration of the Travellers and the reuniting of Asgard and Utgard will go into the early hours of the morning. Everyone will be given a room to stay in in one of Utgard's finer hotels if they manage to make it up to their room!

Day 522 ( Oct. 9/10 )
The next day, businesses will be opening up as the streets are being cleaned of the previous day's festivities. Operating will be sluggish, however, as even the natives are recovering from the evening. Loud noises and the bright sun will be horribly offensive and sales might even be eased along by any offers of helping ease the aches and pains of the nightlong celebration. It'll be slow going gathering all of the necessary supplies, but once it's all packed into the caravan, the Asgard natives will insist upon leaving as soon as possible. Not that they didn't enjoy the festivities, but - well. All good things in moderation, and they still have a long ride back through the black ice channel. Take plenty of water with you!

Yggdrasil's collapse is reaching a fever pitch and bringing the decay right into the heart of Asgard. Those that remain in the Holy City for this month will struggle with disappearances, memory loss, memory gain, and other various horrible things. Every week will introduce a new feature for you guys to play with, and by the last week, all four will be occurring at random in one major clusterfuck centering around the idea of collapse.

Week Three: Days 446-449 / May 11-17
    Day 446 ( May 10/11 )
By this day, the memory loss will begin to worsen and start affecting canon memories as well. Your character may remember seeing their castmate in Asgard, but may not recall knowing them from home. They might lose memories of their childhood, or forget why it is they wanted to get back there. What exactly they forget is entirely up to you, but the recollection of their canon will become hazy if not outright blank.

This memory loss is not permanent and can return at random, either immediately or gradually, at any point throughout the month.

Starting during the past week, ghosts began appearing throughout Asgard's streets. The Travellers that have died during the opt-out event will return to Asgard as spectres that cannot speak, touch, or otherwise influence anything around them. Their spirits will be trapped between this world and the next; the living Travellers in Asgard will be able to see them, but they will not be able to hear anything the ghosts might say. Any Travellers inside Asgard that die will join them on the other side of the veil to be trapped there for the time being. These ghosts will continue to appear throughout the month as more of their company fall in Ginnungagap.

    Week Four: Days 450-452 / May 18-23
    • Day 450 ( May 18/19 ): Travellers begin having terrifying and painful nightmares whenever they fall asleep. These dreams are short-lived, easy to wake from, and immediately forgotten upon waking.
    • The volunteer opportunity for new characters takes place during this week. Sign-ups are by email and must be received by May 17.

THE LOG FOR WEEKS 1&2 IS LOCATED HERE.

[ OOC NOTES: This is the mingle log for the WEEKS THREE AND FOUR of the Something Ominous plot event! Remember that your character will be part of this event unless they signed up for the opt-out event by the deadline. SPECIAL NOTE: As of the power expansion plot, bracelets will work outside of the city along with god powers. Characters WILL be able to communicate with those outside of the city of Asgard, as long as the party has his or her bracelet on him. ]

The volunteers from the LOCUSTS! event last month found in Odin's office endless research into Ginnungagap and a handwritten note from the King prior to his collapse. All arrows are pointing in the direction of the sacred canyon, and so it is that the Travellers will be initiating their own investigation into whatever Odin believes may be down there. It will be done without the eyes of the gods, however, so the trip will be a dangerous one without a map to lead the way and there may be many unforeseen obstacles along the way.

Week One: Day 441 / May 1-3
    Day 441 ( April 30/May 1 )
As per the whispers on the street, the Travellers that've decided to go on this trip will meet up in the earliest hours of Day 441 at the Gate of Fire. Pack and prepare for a long haul, as this one will be a difficult journey. Any of those that went on the Down This Road opt-out event may want to offer up their memories as a vague guide into the canyon, but either way - without the guidance of the gods, making it to Ginnungagap safely will be nigh impossible.

After the Travellers sneak their way out of Asgard, they will make way towards the canyon to the east. Travel will be slow and difficult, particularly in moving through the forests that have been ravaged by the recent flooding. When they make camp for the evening, they will suffer the same strange sensations as those in Asgard just before 11PM: they will simultaneously feel a flicker in their bodies, like a missed heartbeat or a cut-off breath. Those in Freyr house that were present for the god's death and those that were present for the Friendly Fire event will recognise the sensation; it will happen twice more before one final blip. In that moment, everyone will essentially have a minor blackout: their vision will fade, their bodies will freeze, and there will be an internal sensation of dropping.

After this, the Travellers outside of the city will feel something of a drag towards Ginnungagap. It will feel like an outside force beckoning them inward, to someplace they belong. The compulsion will be relatively easy to overcome, but it will linger all throughout their journey through the depths of Yggdrasil.

Week Two: Days 443-445 / May 4-9
    Day 443 ( May 4/5 )
Approaching the border between Asgard and Ginnungagap will bring the Travellers closer to the Fire Giants' kingdom of Muspellheim. From this distance, they will just barely be able to make out the great volcano, still lit at its peak, and a heavy black cloud that lingers over most of the kingdom. In this area, it may behoove them to keep an eye out for Giant patrols and pockets of defects from Surt's ranks, all seeking safe ground somewhere in the relatively neutral territory of Ginnungagap. They will be volatile and attack upon sight, but no groups will be any larger than five, maybe six at most.

As they sneak and fight their way across the plains, they will find that Ginnungagap is sparsely littered with old trees and short, soft grass on the outskirts of the canyon, streams flowing from varying mountain peaks into the vast space below; deeper within, it is sheer rock and sharp edges that are harsh and unyielding. If one were to look at it from above, they might think someone stabbed a knife into solid stone and carved out a jagged wound, and so it is moving through the canyon itself, where one false step can lead to certain and painful death.

Who: Yuiko & anyone
What: Getting her color back
When: Day 438
Where: Anywhere
Rating: PG?

How long had it been? Yuiko rubbed her eyes blearily as she stared out from the steps of her welcome hall. She had a vague sense of the time that had passed but now it was hard to recall anything, as if it was just a blur and she had been really drained. She certainly hadn't been feeling like herself at all.

She was still dazed a little as she wandered around a little, her color gradually returning and the pink of her hair, tail, and ears returning to its bright cheerful norm. With each hour that passes by her ears and tail lift just a little until she finally feels like herself again. She could be found just about anywhere catching up with some people that she hadn't seen since turning grey, or grabbing a juice, even just sitting sprawled out somewhere getting a little sun and staring at the sky; hopefully not in the way. Occasionally she would hold up her wrist and stare at the bracelet with the small pink stone.

Who: EVERYONE going to Ginnungagap
What: the Down This Road mingle log!
When: Days 401-404 ( Feb. 9-16 )
Where: Asgard, Ginnungagap, and the road inbetween.
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

Day 401 ( Feb. 9/10 )
Waiting by the Gate of Fire will be several carriages all prepared to take the Travellers to their destination. Natives will help them load into the carriages and provide a personal pack of food and blankets to those that need it, all with a grim face and averted eyes. This journey is one few outside the immortals have ever made, and only several thousand years ago. It's a sacred place, and one they are not entirely comfortable with seeing entered. But their King gave them orders, and so the caravan will depart by midday with Mimir and Honir at the head to lead the way onward.

They will continue riding through sunset and stop to make camp by nightfall. The gods will tell the Travellers to rest up, as the rest of the journey will be a strenuous one.

Day 402 ( Feb. 11/12 )
The caravan will pick up again for a few hours, but it will come to a sudden halt with a cry of pain from the leading carriage. The accompanying gods will be feeling the same inexplicable wrenching as the gods in Asgard, but this far from the city, its effects will not reach the Travellers in their party. A moment will be spared for their recovery before Honir announces that it's best they continue on foot; from there on forward, it's a hike, and not a particularly friendly one.

Ginnungagap sparsely littered with old trees and short, soft grass on the outskirts of the canyon, streams flowing from varying mountain peaks into the vast space below; deeper within, it is sheer rock and sharp edges that are harsh and unyielding. If one were to look at it from above, they might think someone stabbed a knife into solid stone and carved out a jagged wound, and so it is moving through the canyon itself, where one false step can lead to certain and painful death.

The vast majority of the day will be spent moving slowly and carefully, with few breaks to stop for water and rest while Honir and Mimir negotiate the safest paths. By the time it goes dark, they will be too deep into the canyon and its steep cliff faces to stop without risking losing someone to the jagged rocks hidden in the darkness, and so the gods will conjure small orbs of light to follow each Traveller as they direct every footfall very precisely until they reach their destination.

They will stop just outside the path that leads to the cavern of the Earth Giants' final resting place. There is ample space to make camp and rest for the night; Honir and Mimir will have to vanquish their lights in order to regain their strength, so they will urge the Travellers not to go off wandering on their own. The sound of slowly streaming water and the echo of emptiness will linger just outside their reach in the darkness as they try to sleep.

Day 403
By early morning, very little sunlight will be able to reach the company from their position on the small plateau, but the gods will wake their companions and relight their guides to lead them further in. It takes less than an hour to reach the entrance to the kingdom of the Earth Giants, and sunlight will flood the ruins in abundance. It may be easy to tell that the sprawling city was once something of magnificence, the architecture careful and precise to maximise their position in the sun carried down into the canyon.

However, nearly all buildings lay in varying states of destruction, as though a large bomb went off at the centre and blew outwards. Every surface is overgrown by moss, weeds, and chaotic tangles of vines. Waterfalls that were contained and utilised in artful structures and fountains have worn down the walls of the cavern and flow freely throughout the ruins, leaving the earth a sodden constant. The kingdom has fallen into complete disrepair in the eighteen-thousand years it's been deserted.

Most notable, however, is the distinct lack of life anywhere throughout the cavern. Ginnungagap on the whole is not terribly occupied by wildlife, but there are animals and insects that can be found roaming the cliffs; here, there is absolutely none to be found. Nothing stirs but the sound of water echoing off of empty walls, and there is, it seems, a very unnatural hollow sensation from simply standing in this space so devoid of life.

It has long been believed that the tragedy of the Earth Giants' obliteration starved this land of its will to thrive, but this is an extreme the gods did not foresee. The Travellers will be free to explore for a few hours, but will be ushered out at the insistence of the unnerved gods before midday. They have a long journey ahead of them, and they will not stop for anything until night has fallen and they are far from this barren wasteland.

Day 404 ( Feb. 13/14 )
Travel back to Asgard is otherwise uneventful in the wake of their discovery in Ginnungagap. They will arrive to the city pulling itself together after its latest blight, and the gods that accompanied the caravan will give hurried farewells before quickly making their way to the castle to bring news of their experience. The natives will once again help the Travellers unload, this time even more grim than before. Strange things are stirring, and the confusion on both sides will leave many questions unanswered.

What: The mingle log for A Friend In Need
When: Days 387-390 ( Jan. 12-19 )
Where: Asgard, Alfheim, and the train ride inbetween
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

Day 387 ( Jan. 12/13 )
Before boarding the train around dawn, the leaders of the separate groups should run checks on everyone that's signed up. Natives will help dish out a simple weapon to those without their own that want one, medical supplies to the healers and a simple kit for everyone else, and a simple mask with strict instructions to put them on as soon as the kingdom is within sight. After everyone is geared up and boarded, Odin's spies will set out on horseback first, masks already in place, to clear the path ahead. This gives you a five hour train ride to go over strategies and coordinate with your fellow Travellers and the Asgard natives that have joined the ranks.

As the train crosses the halfway mark between Asgard and Alfheim, the dark black clouds of smoke and ash will sprawl across the horizon and thicken the air, prompting early placement of the gas masks as a precautionary measure. It's a short trip from there, and once the train has stopped, it's time to get to work. The homes and buildings of Alfheim will be in varying states of disarray and ruin, some still burning as the inhabitants and neighbours struggle to douse the flames. Others will be smouldering, successfully saved or otherwise left to burn itself out in the days since the initial attack. There will still be Fire Giants sparsely wreaking havoc amongst the living quarters, but the vast majority of the fighting will have been drawn into the treeline by the Elves to give room for relief efforts and any evacuation attempts. Homes and larger buildings still largely intact will have been turned into temporary hospital rooms or safe houses for the young and incapable of fighting, with the injured laid out anywhere there is room; the dead will be wrapped in sodden sheets in the alleys between buildings until they can be properly buried - if ever they should find the opportunity.

This leaves the Travellers to split up and jump head first into their tasks. The Elves will be pleasantly surprised and immensely grateful for the arrival of aid, but they will not spare much time to gratitude when the battle wages and every second counts. Those fighting will immediately accept the Travellers into their defence, and from there, they will begin to push back against the Giants' forces. At this point, it will be largely defensive combat, an attempt to keep the Giants from moving further into the kingdom and setting more to flames. Surt himself will be present in this, and a vast majority of those that try to stand against him will be met with a heavy hand. Move carefully, Travellers, for there is still fight left in these desperate Giants.

Day 388/389 ( Jan. 14-17 )
By early morning, just as the Sun is beginning to rise, the Travellers will receive some support from their patron deities back in Asgard. For the next two days, they will have their House Powers to give them that extra edge on the battlefield. Another surprise will arrive as well, as the trees themselves seem to move through the battlefield to push back the Giants. The Treepeople will have arrived, many of whom direct their efforts towards the support group to help control the flames while others exact their grief and anger on the enemy forces that still linger around. These beings are the oldest in Yggdrasil, second only to the immortals, and strongly resemble their respective forests, but they are strong and firmly rooted in the Mother's survival.

They will fight alongside the Travellers until they are cut down or the battle is won, which it seems it will be when the flames begin to significantly dwindle nearing sunrise on Day 389. From that point onward, those fighting for Alfheim will rise to the offence and the Giants will begin to fall back as their numbers lessen and their advantage wanes. They will begin fleeing the kingdom, leaving Surt with only his loyalists at his side - and against the might of the Travellers and the Elves emboldened by their allies' support, they few will not be enough to claim the entire kingdom.

Day 390 ( Jan. 18-19 )
The Travellers' House Powers will fade before sunrise, but between the combined strengths of them, the Elves, and the Treepeople, they will still quickly overpower Surt's remaining forces and send them scurrying back to their ruined kingdom of Muspellheim. Surt will leave weary and more furious than ever at his failure, but he knows too that to stand alone would be his downfall. The battle is won, but the damage has been great and there is little time for celebration. The Travellers will be given the most sincere gratitude from the people of Alfheim, and sent back home with packs of food and supplies to patch themselves up before they arrive back in Asgard as the loyal and true allies to Yggdrasil and her children.
