DAY 555 (Dec 14-15)

As the last of the black ice is cleared from the city - and the last of its natives wake from their gray slumber - a cautious winter celebration begins. The city itself opens its doors wide to the allied forces still camped outside it and the natives invite the Travelers to observe the beginning of Winter and the approach of the end of the Asgardian year with them.

The day begins with what seems like a typical party in the streets. There is food, music, and an attitude of general warmth and hope from the Natives that hasn't been quite so present in a long time. It will be interrupted in the early afternoon by a snowball fight that starts in one sector of the city and quickly snowballs out of control. For a few hours, the city itself will become a veritable warzone, with most of the city's native children and adults alike getting in on the fight! Watch your back and take no prisoners. DAY 556 (Dec 16-17)

Day 556 sees a brief return to old - and maybe familiar - tricks. The festivities continue on outside, but some Travelers throughout the course of the day may find themselves influenced by magical impulse… all in the name of good holiday fun, of course.

The effects of these miniature curses will last anywhere between ten minutes and an hour and happen spontaneously, and most of them are echoes of similar curses that have been laid upon the city before. Travelers may find themselves:

• Unable to lie or actively compelled to blurt truths, consequences be damned
• Only able to communicate in poetry or song
• Given a nagging urge to (sincerely!) compliment anyone they come across
• Compelled to just hold hands with whoever they're near
• Caught under sprigs of magic mistletoe that seem to appear at arbitrary times at equally arbitrary places (though they can either be kissed or just wait a few minutes for it to disappear again)

Your character can be affected by as many and as often as you'd like, but none of them are mandatory. To reward the Travelers for putting up with that silliness one final time, they will find in their rooms that night a basket of chocolate, a horrendously ugly Christmas sweater, and one item from home. The item can be anything that fits within the game's technological and magical rules! If you'd like your character to receive something, please just drop a comment HERE to get it approved.

DAY 557 (Dec 18-19)

Day 557 marks the final day of celebration. That evening, twinkling, magical fairy lights will cover the edges of buildings and the branches of trees all over the city. There are light displays of amazing proportion all over the city, and the Welcome Halls are done up in entirely their signature color. the Travelers will be invited into the castle again for a ball much like the one last year. Thor will announce the end of curfew and tell everyone to party hard, because the hunt for both Surt and a way to heal the World Tree will begin after this.

The party will last until midnight, when everyone will be shuffled out into the courtyard for a brilliant fireworks display. It represents both the victory over Thiazi and the hope that the celebration of this coming new year will not be the last.

[Yep, that's it, he's done. Eyes' unconscious body? Getting heaved onto Hizumi none too gently so he can have a hand to slap over his mouth, his face already aflame in humiliation, anger and the barest hints of vulnerability clear in what can be see of his expression.

His dignity is pretty much in ashes right now, but he'd be damned if he isn't going to be pretending otherwise.]

It was just a question! Geeze...

He turns his head away as he feels the compulsion, his words quiet.]

...I wouldn't have to be manipulative if you'd just be honest.

[Hizumi will have to wait another day to hear what Ayumu might have answered to him; in that moment, he winces again and starts shifting, opening his eyes slowly and trying to comprehend what was going on.

... Was he laying in his uncle's lap?]

[The rush of relief felt as Eyes starts to wake is immediate, but didn't eclipse the slight guilt at Hizumi's words. Ayumu was well aware of his failings, and as frustrated as he was with Hizumi's attempts at prying, he knew it was definitely warranted in some ways.

His gaze slides to Hizumi for a moment, and careful observation might detect the slightest tinge of shame in his eyes before he glances at Eyes once more, shifting his position and hesitantly removing his hand from his mouth.]

...Rutherford?

[Either Hizumi doesn't catch it (doubtful) or he's ignoring it (far more likely) in favor of giving Eyes an extremely deadpan look.]

Hurry and get up already. This is creepin' me out.

[The look on Eyes' face is equally as deadpan, and he starts sitting up immediately, if carefully and probably more slowly than Hizumi would have liked. Sorry, he wasn't going to risk passing out from rib pain twice.

Not that he says anything about it, or utters even a single word. Nope, he's staying silent for the time being.]

[Ayumu watches Eyes move carefully, trying to spot any signs of further pain.]

I didn't think I hit you that hard.... are you alright?

Looks fine to me.

[But then again, he might just be a teensy bit biased.]

... Again. [At least he manages to stop himself from saying anything further, pinching the bridge of his nose and squeezing his eyes shut against the lingering pain. Breathe...]

I'll go have it checked later. You two be on your way. [But no kissing.]

Are you sure? [There are no ulterior motives at all in his asking Eyes that, not at all.

Ok, maybe a little. But he is concerned about him more than he's concerned about being alone with and still stuck to Hizumi right now.]

[If they get caught by another sprig of mistletoe, he swears...

He's already in a slight crouch to leave, but naturally he can't get far unless Ayumu cooperates.]

[What Hizumi said. Not that he intend to indulge that question, if the hand covering his mouth is anything to go by. Ayumu would have to strike again another time.]

I'm sure. If you insist on worrying, you can call me later in the day or I can refer you to the healer to prove that I got it looked over.

[Because Hizumi sure as heck doesn't want that information, right?]

[Ayumu lets himself be tugged up by Hizumi, deciding that if Eyes wasn't going to be forthcoming about any further pains it would be pointless to try prying it out of him. He knew enough about how stubborn Eyes could be.]

Alright. But if I find out you passed out in the snow somewhere, I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

It'd serve him right.

[--Shit. He's quick to get on his feet after that, already starting to move.]

I'll be careful to do it where you can't find me. [Which was oh so many places, but honestly he'd rather not land himself in Ayumu's mercy in such a situation.]

[Ayumu shoots Hizumi a chastising look, but it doesn't last long. He really shouldn't have expected much else, with this curse destroying the brain to mouth filter.]

Try not to do it at all. We'll meet you back at the house.

[At least, that was Ayumu's plan. He was going back to the house, and away from this madness.

He was certainly not planning on continuing, no matter what Eyes thought.]

[No bias. No bias at all. And with that said, he will practically drag Ayumu out of there, at least until the other catches up to his pace. Hizumi has been long done with this conversation, and now that he can move, he's putting an end to it.]

[Ayumu happily lets himself be dragged off, not protesting in the slightest. He quickly matches his pace to Hizumi, only offering the other a quick glance and a request.] Let's go back to the house. I want to get out of here.

[The whole holding hands thing becomes much less fun when there's the ever-looming threat of mistletoe and nephews armed with cameras, oddly enough. As such, he starts in the direction of the house.]

'Probably'? More like 'definitely'. [Ayumu walks along with him, flexing his fingers once in awhile to check and see if his hand will finally let go of Hizumi's. No luck, so far.

He really, really wanted to just lock himself in his room and be alone for a while, but at this rate....]

At least we can try to keep away from the eaves. Doorways, too. [Or basically anything overhanging because screw that.]

But if it doesn't break before we get inside... [That... will probably just raise their chances of being mistletoe victims, really.]

I'd rather stay indoors and someplace familiar where it's easier to quickly spot something out of the ordinary regardless.

...Besides, it would be a lot less awkward than ending up pinned in the snow again.

[Ayumu keeps his face straight, thankfully, but there might be the tiniest hint of an embarrassed flush on his face. He hadn't meant to say that.]

It's not like the situation was that comfortable for either of us.
