What: Asgard Olympics Event Part 3
When: Day 113 during the day only (July 15)

The third day of the festival, characters will wake up to hear the same music again. In the park, the stage and the resource building have returned and the last events are ready to go!

When you make a thread, be sure to fill out your subject line! Make sure people know where you are and what you're doing. For the sake of making the log easier on browsers, we won't be posting category threads for each event, so try putting "talent show / beauty pageant / armwrestling contest" or whatever is relevant in your subject line.

The contests for the day are as follows:

First, the Talent Show. Characters will have the entire resource building to find instruments, costumes, and whatever props they might need for this show. Anything you'd take to a real talent contest can be performed here! NPCs (native shopkeepers from Freyr who've had their colour restored by now) will judge the talents and announce the winner!

The winners of the talent show will be:
First Place: Shiki Tohno and Shirou Emiya (Freya) (they both get individual prizes but share house points)
Second Place: Diva (Freyr)

Second, the Beauty Pageant. The resource building has every bit of clothing, make-up, or anything else you need to look your best! There are even NPC makeup and hair artists if you ask for them. Characters will get one chance to strut their stuff, and then a panel of native shopkeepers from Freya who have their colour back will pick the prettiest Traveller!

The winners of the beauty pageant will be:
First Place: Nezumi (Freyr)
Second Place: Caterina Sforza (Freya)

Third, the Armwrestling Contest. This is a contest of pure strength and stamina! The first two characters to arrive will wrestle, and it will continue with tournament brackets until the last two compete!

The winners of the armwrestling contest will be:
First Place: Kainé (Thor)
Second Place: Vanitas (Hel)

In the evening once it gets dark, the carnival setting will disappear into thin air, leaving only the stage. From this stage, one of your local Gods will announce the House that's won the overall contest and give out the prizes from the whole event (including the individual prizes for winning each contest). The prize info can be found on the event post! After that, they'll leave and take the stage with them.

Have fun, play hard, and good try to everyone who competes! Remember, your characters had to sign in for events ICly, but they're welcome to be thrown in even if you didn't sign them up already OOCly. Just jump into whatever you'd like!

Samantha Grey | Beauty Contest

"Why did I agree to this?" she growled, glaring and snarling at her tail. The half-demon made a grab for the offending object and bared her fangs visibly. Her eyes were practically blazing with fury over the whole event. She was dressed in long, beautiful purple and red-silk number that clung tightly to her body in ways that accented her features without openly showing them off. It was similar to an Ao Dai, but not quite.

She sighed and reached up to pinch the bridge of her nose. "I look ridiculous. I did not come to this place just to be drooled at or make people think I'm like ... that," she snarled before looking around at the others in the competition. There were several others she thought were prettier to boot. This was just a crappy day all around.

Talent Show

[Euri is always eager to jump on the chance to sing, and the talent show is no exception. It's her drive to practice, practice, practice that her mother instilled in her that makes her sign up, and given that she's using this as a chance to practice she isn't bothering with music. Casting black magic doesn't require it and she's stronger without it anyway.

She'll be singing the hell out of this number a capella, and after she's finished she's heading down into the audience to catch the rest of the acts, curious to see what other kinds of things people will be doing and to find some of her friends to harass.]

[ ... This song. Hanako can't explain why, but it makes her eyes tingle a bit, as if tears want to come out on their own. Unlike that one time she was forced to sing against her will, though, this song is nicely soothing, and it doesn't remind her of bad things... however, it still makes her cry- and once the capella is over, she'll applaude heartily.

Euri can still find her on her seat, not moving since there are still other friends of hers that are going to exhibit. Maybe she could even catch her as she keeps wiping her tears with a handkerchief. Once she starts crying, she won't stop for a while... ]

Talent Show

[Shiki actually wasn't taking this show seriously. That much was obvious when he partnered himself with Shirou for this thing.

Instead, he was here to have fun.

And he had a lot of skills that were very specific in nature. They mostly involved cutting up things into lots of pieces and other knifework. Cooking could also easily employ those skills so here he was....with Shirou...trying to be talented.

Right now, he was just juggling four knives, waiting for Shirou to pass over some meat or vegetables or something.]

[Cooking is just one of Shirou's hobbies. It was fun for him too.

Shirou's just finishing up with the oil and then hands over a bowl of mixed sea foods and various japanese style dishes. ]

Here, the food's all finished.

Oh.

[He makes a small "Hm..." judgmental noise when he figures out what Shiki's been up to. Isn't juggling knives a bit dangerous?]

You shouldn't play around with knives. You might get hurt.

[ SHE'S JUST THERE BECAUSE SHE LIKES THESE KINDS OF SHOWS. Not just because she's seeing two idiots actually being good at cooking. Wow, that's very impressive though... she has to admit that.

Also sitting one step above Arihiko so she's witnessing whatever the third idiot is throwing at the stage. Isn't that against the rules? OH MY GOD STOP SHOUTING. She doesn't dare interrupting him...

Anyway after the contest she'll go congratulate them. u3u ]

[This is the most impressive display of cooking she's ever seen. She's in awe until the very end, then making her way over for some congrats.]

Beauty Contest

[It's funny how Aladdin ended up in this contest. He just wanted watch all the pretty ladies in the contest. Some people had other plans in mind though. Some of the girls from the bathhouse convinced him to sign up with the promise of food. They really wanted to see the bitty all dressed up. He was almost late getting to the stage, the hairdresser and make up artist didn't want to let their little dress up doll go.

This is the combined results minus the turban.

After that almost scaring experience, he's standing around getting a closer look at the female constants. ]

[And Aladdin may find himself looking at Hibiki, as she is coincidentally standing right next to him.]

Ah... Aladdin-san, you were signed up too?

[She pauses to look at his outfit. W-wow...]

Aaaah, it's so pretty!

[ Regina, clad in far too many sequins and satin and ruffles, is randomly applauding Aladdin. She's seemingly appeared out of nowhere just to heap praise on him! Scary. ]

You look great today! Hey, whatcha lookin' at? [ She peers around at him, trying to work out what he's doing. ]

Diva | Talent Show

[Nothing else in the Asslympics really interests her, but as soon as she sees a talent competition? Girl, you know she's going to sign the fuck up for that.

Which is to say that Diva performs in the talent competition and really does nothing less than a truly breathtaking job of it. Her chosen song is a dramatic and powerful aria from Tosca. It's a powerful enough song on its own with Diva's musical talent, but Diva has been gifted with Freyr's Bardic Influence, which makes a full and grand illusion for the audience, should you be watching.

And after her performance and being crowned second place (much to her chagrin, mind you, she thinks she should have gotten first), she'll be mingling around, still wearing the gown from her performance.]

[He totally cheered for her after her performance. Rather than talk to the winners, Minato thinks the girl who came in second deserves more praise.]

That was spectacular.

[ someone singing in italian? not quite what he had expected in a show of people's talents, despite the inclusion of illusion. that it's diva, the woman claudia had called a fool (and he is inclined to trust her opinion on that one), only serves to reinforce the impression that she is a woman more concerned with appearance than substance.

when niccolò runs into her later, though, he knows well enough to smile. ]

You are the one who sang, yes? With the, ah, illusione. It was impressive.

Beauty Pageant

[Truthfully, Hibiki had been attracted to the beauty pageant not because she thought she had a chance of winning, but because it looked like fun to get all dressed up.

As a result, Hibiki walks onstage shyly in a flowy white dress, her usual side-ponytail now held in place by a hair tie made to look like a flower stem, with white flowers facing forwards. The ponytail itself has been carefully curled, and although it's hard to tell, some light makeup has been applied to emphasize her lashes and lips. Even her old wooden side-barrette has been replaced with a glittering white one instead.

It's kind of adorable.]

[ Hanako is sitting in the audience, watching the contest as she kind of promised a few of her friends here, including Hibiki. She's not one to cheer loudly or make any noises, but she'll applaud when the little girl makes her scene. Ganbatte ne...! ]

Nezumi | Beauty Pageant.

[After seeing some of the prizes gained from other contests such as these, Nezumi decided that entering these kinds of things might not be such a bad idea, and certainly a way to pass time. So he decides to dress the way he's always known, with his hair done up pretty and a beautiful gown, and gives a show that will not soon be forgotten. He even smiles and waves.

After the show, Nezumi will be meandering around in the same clothes he wore for the show, feeling exceptionally smug that he won the contest. (It was only to be expected, he thinks.) He'll be around until the house-announcements, and will still be feeling exceptionally smug when he finds out that it's his house that wins. (It's to be expected!) Following that, he'll be heading back home to admire his food and get some well-deserved rest.]

[After the show one of the other contestants will run over upon spotting him, still dressed in her own contest clothes. She's pretty cheerful despite losing!]

Arm Wrestling

[So far, so good. The first few rounds had been progressively tougher and tougher, but Vanitas had managed to hang onto his lead by a small margin. And now it was time to take a breather and rest his muscles for a few.]

[Euri's been hanging around the whole time to cheer everyone she knows on. And when he has a break she's wandering over.]

You're doing really well. [If she wasn't already aware of how strong he was she'd be surprised.]

Despite the fact that she had insufficient time to prepare for the pageant which she had been somehow convinced to take part in for one reason or another, Keine was still looking mighty fine with that elegant grace of hers, even while in her usual attire -- given, her usual attire was quite the pretty dress on its own, so no doubt she would catch the attention of the crowd, especially those that had not met her before.

It was a bit of a pity that she had not won the pageant, but it's the experience that counts, right?

[ so losing two competitions would be disheartening to some, but kainé's frustration seems to fuel her already tremendous strength. the first couple of opponents were a cakewalk, who's finna take on the crazy lady next? ]

I'm surprised they didn't say not to use any powers. Of course someone like you would win practically ever match.

[ how many of you recognize that song? none the less, claudia's third carnival attendance is much like the previous days. this time, though, when night falls, she is on the ground: half-laying on a blanket over the grass, propped on her elbows, to look at the sky. a local loaned her the blanket, and if asked, claudia will say he had been "kind enough" to — the reality being closer to the fact, despite her number of bruises, claudia has cleavage and mile-long legs in a ruffled dress. it had only taken a knowing smile and sweet words, but when he returns to find her, it will only be a blanket on park grass. ]

[ niccolò has been giving claudia room enough since the incident over ezio, avoiding and distancing as much as is able while observing the olympics and festivities. but now they're over, and there is only so much room to give for so long before it becomes ridiculous to continue it. when he finds her on the blanket, he approaches instead of going the other way. ]

I did not take you for having such interest in stars, Claudia.

ay yo talent show

[ It's Sinbad's big debut! Non-stop training has turned this surprisingly compliant lion - luckily previously and magically owned - (and with a few odd habits, including wandering off, growling, yawning, a taste for chicken nuggets and being a goddamn lion) into a surefire showbiz star. A dosage of Freya's soothing Charm power didn't hurt either, speeding up the process dramatically.

This is really the precursor to the job Regina will be doing later - as a result, her act is not as polished as it usually is and she hasn't obtained all her props yet. That's not to say that there isn't A GODDAMN LION ON STAGE.

Regina makes him jump through a few makeshift hoops, do tricks for treats and even perform a weird shuffling dance. She obviously rewards him at the end, takes a bow and skips off stage before realising she has to herd the lion out as well. Oops. ]

Talent Show

[River's decided to leave the stage fairly plain. Her dress is very simple as well, just the shoes and the leotard and the tights. But her movements are practiced and passionate and full of emotion. The look on her face is one of focus. She hasn't been on a stage for quite some time, and she hasn't had a lot of time to practice something complicated, but she thinks she can still give the other contestants a run for their hypothetical money.]

Beauty Pageant

[Caterina signed up on a whim, that whim being "Madre di Dio, they have a contest for who's the prettiest?" She basically thought the whole idea was hilarious, but now that she's here, she's going to take it... mostly seriously.

Seriously enough that she's going to dress her best. How do you win a beauty pageant? Class it the fuck up.

And then when she actually gets second place, she's almost disappointed. But ah well, she can rest in the knowledge that yes, she's still got it. And maybe if she had actually made a full-blown attempt she would have won, instead of getting second on a half-assed attempt.

In any case, before, during, and afterward the contest she'll be cruising around in her swanky threads.]

[ those threads certainly do command attention! the idea of a beauty contest is ridiculous but niccolò attended anyway, an act of italian solidarity, and makes a point to find her afterwords. ]

[ oh, you knew that Kanaya was all over this. there wasn't even a chance for someone to sign her up without her knowing -- she was one of the first in line to do it herself. this is her element, and she's not ready to pass up a chance to look fabulous.

of course, she's made a dress specifically for the event. she'll be walking around, making sure that she's seen. she shouldn't be too hard to miss though... after all, she's glowing - literally. ]
