END OF ARC 1: DAY 169-170 DOWNTIME
[The first battle is over, but the second will begin any time. For two days, the enemy forces will remain on the other side of the battlefield, working on strategy and tending to their wounded. Both sides have taken heavy losses, and the Arena is full of the hurt and dying.
The battlefield itself has turned to a bloody, muddy mess. The elves will be asking the Army Engineers group and anyone else willing to help them lay timber and gravel out to make the ground easier to walk on for the next battle.
What will you do in your breathing space? Keep working, mourn your losses, or retreat from the horrors of war?]
[ooc note: This log takes place IC on Days 169-170/Nov 4-7. Please be sure you've read the plot post and the battle log's starting info thoroughly. Make absolutely sure that you include the day/rough time in the subject line of top-level comments, as well as if your thread is open or closed.
In addition to the battle log, there is a full-event log for those hiding out in Folkvang here. If you have any questions, please direct them to the mod post so everyone else can see them!]

Day 169 Sunset - Outside of the Arena (Semi-Open)
Whatever it is you guys have planned, god I hope you had a plan B.
(OOC: Open to those who specifically planned to lock Sam up. For sanity's sake, let's keep this to two or three people. She's not going to put up much of a fight if she knows what's going on anyway. Samantha is otherwise completely unavailable on d170 and the latter portion of 169.)

[The hospital outside the city walls might no longer be an option, but there was one place in the city were there would be no people. At least -- no living people. The caretaker who kept the graveyard has acquiesced in their plan and a small mausoleum prepared as shelter for Sam. Signs declaring the graveyard off limits had been put up around the border of the cemetary and Conan had tested with his own power to make sure that the neighbouring houses were out of the range of their Body Control.
He said none of this to Sam, however, instead holding up a blindfold.]
You don't mind, Samantha-san?
Ok, we'll run with this. If anyone wants to pop in mid-stream they can within reaso
The fact remained that she was still putting a person half the age of even some of the people she socialized with in danger with this. The Doctor had a point. Physically, she could overpower a kid his age with relative ease, powers aside, and that concerned her more than anything else. It was half the problem involving Arya, only worse.]
whether I mind or not isn't important, Conan. This is what needs to be done. Please, just tell me you have backup for this just in case. I don't care if I can see them. I just want to know you aren't alone.
[Regardless of what he said, though, she took the blindfold and wrapped it around her eyes. She took a chord of her own and tied her tail to her left leg at the thigh. It wriggled in annoyance.]

It's not just me, Samantha-san.
[He could very easily have guided her with his mind -- and if the situation arose where they needed to move quickly or dodge, he would. But for the moment, Conan took Samantha's hand, leading her forward, conserving his power for when it would be most needed.]

[she walked along quietly, her free hand twitching as she moved. It was hard not to keep track of turns, steps and distances. It was a natural survival instinct to pay attention to these things.]
I'm honestly sorry to be putting us through this. We shouldn't have to worry about this right now.

[Conan squeezed her hand to take any sting out of his words. They really didn't need to dwell on the situation -- either of them. It might be quiet at the moment, but that didn't meant they weren't both fully away of what lay before the city.]
The thermos -- what was in that?
no subject
[She sighed and shook her head, squeezing back as she walked. When he asked the other question, she decided there was no harm in explaining at this point.]
Tea, made from a plant that's part of amulets in Asgard to protect against curses. I've been working on it, hoping it would help control ... her. If it works, she might come out as often.
...we'll see. Even if it works, I still want to be locked up for the first few months. Just in case... assuming we're still here of course.

[Conan was surprised he hadn't heard about it. Clearly there was a lot more going on in the city than he realised. It would be interesting to learn more about this, after the battle--
Assuming of course, they survived.]
Assuming we're still here. How much of the tea can you make?
no subject
Mind you... most of the things I sell are those amulets to the natives. They like curses as little as we do, even if I haven't heard of them suffering much.

[Admittedly, she might not be doing it in the most ethical avenues. She did traffic in some questionable stuff on the side.]

[We're turning here, taking something of an indirect route to Hel.]

Hmmm, are you thinking of creating a bullhorn or something? We could always try to do that with regular technology.

What I was thinking was a way of getting messages to the members of the Forensics Unit who aren't Travellers and so can't use bracelets. There's no phones, in Asgard, had you noticed? Not even landlines.

It won't be that boring, really, if I'm being honest. I'm too nervous about this whole thing as is.

[Is Conan displaying far more familiarity with both knots and securing people than any seven-year-old should know? Yes. Anyone surprised by this? Pfft.]
no subject
Don't worry about it. This... is better than waking up with a body, Conan, honestly.
...you are the strangest little kid I have ever met, you know that?
