END OF ARC 1: DAY 169-170 DOWNTIME
[The first battle is over, but the second will begin any time. For two days, the enemy forces will remain on the other side of the battlefield, working on strategy and tending to their wounded. Both sides have taken heavy losses, and the Arena is full of the hurt and dying.
The battlefield itself has turned to a bloody, muddy mess. The elves will be asking the Army Engineers group and anyone else willing to help them lay timber and gravel out to make the ground easier to walk on for the next battle.
What will you do in your breathing space? Keep working, mourn your losses, or retreat from the horrors of war?]
[ooc note: This log takes place IC on Days 169-170/Nov 4-7. Please be sure you've read the plot post and the battle log's starting info thoroughly. Make absolutely sure that you include the day/rough time in the subject line of top-level comments, as well as if your thread is open or closed.
In addition to the battle log, there is a full-event log for those hiding out in Folkvang here. If you have any questions, please direct them to the mod post so everyone else can see them!]

[Conan squeezed her hand to take any sting out of his words. They really didn't need to dwell on the situation -- either of them. It might be quiet at the moment, but that didn't meant they weren't both fully away of what lay before the city.]
The thermos -- what was in that?

[She sighed and shook her head, squeezing back as she walked. When he asked the other question, she decided there was no harm in explaining at this point.]
Tea, made from a plant that's part of amulets in Asgard to protect against curses. I've been working on it, hoping it would help control ... her. If it works, she might come out as often.
...we'll see. Even if it works, I still want to be locked up for the first few months. Just in case... assuming we're still here of course.

[Conan was surprised he hadn't heard about it. Clearly there was a lot more going on in the city than he realised. It would be interesting to learn more about this, after the battle--
Assuming of course, they survived.]
Assuming we're still here. How much of the tea can you make?
no subject
Mind you... most of the things I sell are those amulets to the natives. They like curses as little as we do, even if I haven't heard of them suffering much.

[Admittedly, she might not be doing it in the most ethical avenues. She did traffic in some questionable stuff on the side.]

[We're turning here, taking something of an indirect route to Hel.]

Hmmm, are you thinking of creating a bullhorn or something? We could always try to do that with regular technology.

What I was thinking was a way of getting messages to the members of the Forensics Unit who aren't Travellers and so can't use bracelets. There's no phones, in Asgard, had you noticed? Not even landlines.

It won't be that boring, really, if I'm being honest. I'm too nervous about this whole thing as is.

[Is Conan displaying far more familiarity with both knots and securing people than any seven-year-old should know? Yes. Anyone surprised by this? Pfft.]
no subject
Don't worry about it. This... is better than waking up with a body, Conan, honestly.
...you are the strangest little kid I have ever met, you know that?
no subject
People keep saying that. I seriously have to wonder about the kids in all of your worlds.
[The last touch -- setting up Sam's bracelet so it is on and locked to Conan's and the other's monitoring Sam.]

[One last check of the ropes then Conan is stepping back.] Your bracelet is on. If you want to talk, do. One of us will be listening.

[And with a quick backward glance to check that everything is in place (it is), Conan is slipping out of the crypt. The caretaker is waiting, Conan needing his help to get the bolt over the door in place. It's heavy, but if Sam can't get out, at least no one is likely to get in to bother her.]
