- Day 407 ( Feb. 21/22 )
- [ The thick cloud coverage from yesterday turns dark and vicious, enough so to blot out the morning sun and cast Asgard into prolonged darkness. Thunder will begin to crackle across the city, seemingly far away at first as the storm builds, and growing louder with each passing minute going past noon.
As per the Holes event from November, Storm Spirits from the Percy Jackson franchise will sweep through the streets, sometimes alone and sometimes in groups of two or three. They will not discriminate between Demigod, Traveller, or native as they shock them, run them down, or sweep them up into the air. They are metaphysical creatures, which means combating them will be relatively difficult, but don't worry for too long.
Just as the sun sets ( though it still can't be seen behind the pitch black cloud coverage spider-webbed with small bursts of lightning ), a final crack of thunder will rumble across the entire kingdom, sounding near enough to a rockslide beneath their feet and above their heads. The sky will flash in a violent burst of lightning, bright enough to cast the sky in an unearthly white and blue that lasts several seconds before fading. Torrential rain will pour above an unnatural silence; the Storm Spirits are gone, and the natives will have gone bone white with fear. Even the animal life in the city will not deign to bark or howl.
The silence persists until Heimdall addresses the network with an announcement on February 22. Stay tuned to find out more! ]

These are not something she figures her healing or pistol would do much against though. Or any self defense she has been taught for that matter. She turns to leave, to head back in the house to get one of the others when she feels the hairs at the base of her neck stand on end. And then the shock starts, the wind carrying her up and then tossing her harshly back to the ground, causing her to cry out when she lands awkwardly, causing her arm to break as she tries to break her fall as best she could. Clementine is a little winded too, shakily getting to her feet and eying the storm spirits warily.
There is nothing on her that could hurt it. She just has to try and make a run for it, as she attempts to get her bearings again, a little dizzy from being tossed into the sky. She clutches her arm, pursing her lips as she looks around. She doubts she is the only one out here. And even then, these things could end up getting inside by breaking the windows or something.
As soon as she does see someone, she attempts to rush over, to warn them, to check if they are okay.]

He registers her as a fellow traveller before he attacks, however, and lowers his arm. A girl - one he had spoken to over the network already. She might have been intending to check on him, but he automatically asks a similar question.]
Are you alright?
no subject
My arm....but I can't use my healing on it myself. I just figured, since I'm a healer I should come out and try to help.
no subject
Let me look at it.
I'm not a healer, but I know some first aid.
no subject
[Just something to keep it secure until then at least. Or until she finds another healer around that can fix it. Clementine tries to extend her arm to him, but winces at the movement and opts instead to also step closer, trying to give him enough light to see as she removes her other hand from it.]
no subject
Let's move out of the open.
[He motions toward the nearest building.]
no subject
[She glances around at that suggestion with a nod of agreement, moving to follow.]
Yeah. We should find somewhere safer, less exposed.
no subject
The nearest place is a small sandwich shop. The door is locked, but that doesn't stop him for long. Once they're in he hears the frightened sounds of someone behind the register darting into a back room. One of the residents must have been hiding behind there while watching the happenings outside through the windows. He ignores them, focusing on the girl's injury instead. There should be enough here to make do.]
Take a seat. I'm going to get a tablecloth and see what I can use for a splint.
no subject
She follows, looking around and instinctively almost moving to hide or pursue the hiding person. But she stops, listening and nodding to him.]
Okay. I'll wait here.
[Sitting on a nearby chair, she waits patiently, keeping an eye out as best she can, used to positioning herself with a good view of her surroundings.]
no subject
He begins ripping the tablecloth into strips for bandages, leaving some for the sling they'll want after.]
Hold still.
no subject
I will. Thanks for helping.
no subject
[He works swiftly but carefully. The sooner they get out of here, the sooner they can find a real healer - but he doesn't want to hurt her by rushing.
The arm is splinted, and he ties the makeshift sling so that it rests around her neck.]
I should not have to tell you to avoid shifting it around too much.
no subject
[She simply remains still, wincing and biting back crying out while he works. She gives a nod and a grateful smile as he warns her about moving it.]
Right. I will be careful.

...she just hopes that this time it doesn't end with beans in her hair and a mild concussion.
She's trying to move carefully, not attract attention - but that all kind of goes out the window when she spots a kid running toward her. She breaks out of her hiding spot underneath the overhang of a roof to meet her halfway, bow slung over her shoulder so it's mostly out of the way. ]
Hey! What're you doing out here alone? Are you okay?
no subject
I just wanted to see if I could help. I can heal....but not my arm. I can't heal myself.
no subject
Your arm...? [ It's hard to see exactly what's wrong with her holding it like that, but if it hurts enough that she needs to clutch it to her chest, it's probably not good. ] Yeah, you're not gonna help anyone like that.
no subject
Can you help? You're not a healer in Sigyn, are you? Or even if I get to the clinic. They can help. I would heal myself, but it doesn't work on me. Just others.
no subject
No, I'm in Thor, which is... really not helpful. [ Even if she knew how to use it. ] But I can help you get to the clinic, if you can tell me where it is. That's what I'm out here for.
[ As she speaks, she casts a nervous look up at the sky just to make sure they're not about to get divebombed by anything. The sky's not clear, but nothing seems to be focusing on them just yet. ]
no subject
[She would do it herself, but she realizes how helpless she is right now. Knows she needs assistance in spite of her growing independence. It's reluctant, perhaps, but Clementine is grateful for the offer, managing something of a small smile before she follows Kate's gaze up to the sky, growing more anxious at seeing them all.]
You know the way? Or should I lead? We should probably get out of here quick.
no subject
[ She purses her lips, silently trying to figure out what the hell she's going to do if one of those things does attack them. Something dumb, probably. Like being out here isn't dumb enough... ]
I've never been there. Why don't you lead the way while I watch our backs, okay?
no subject
[But Clementine gives a nod. It's not usually her that leads the way, but she knows the route to the clinic well enough from visiting there each day after school and all.]
I know the way. I can do it.
[And with that, she starts heading off, gesturing for Kate to follow with her uninjured arm.]
Thanks for the help.
[She's still...getting used to Asgard again in a way. Trusting people again after being attacked so often back home by survivors.]
no subject
[ She feels weird, not having her bow in her hands, an arrow on the string, as they walk. She knows perfectly well it wouldn't do her any good, which is why she doesn't actually pull it, but she feels naked and exposed and deeply uncomfortable without it. ]
How far is this clinic, roughly?
no subject
[And she will just leave it at that. Really, no need to go into all of that unless she is specifically asked. She doesn't often usually go around talking about all that unless it is to a few more specific people she knows she can trust. She's still adjusting to her own abilities and handicaps here, her pistol not likely to do much against such opponents. She's careful, cautious as she moves.]
It's not too far. Not from here.
no subject
[ The comment's a little distracted, trying to split her attention between Clementine and the sky. A group of the spirits wheel toward them, and Kate can't quite tell if it's because they see them or because they just happen to be heading this direction, and might pass over without incident. ]
Good. Close is good.
no subject
[Which is partly why she so much prefers Asgard over home. But Clementine follows Kate's gaze to the sky, gesturing for them to hurry just in case as she breaks into a run. There's a wince, holding her injured arm as best as she can.]
Yeah. Close is good. We can do it.
