EVENT LOG: FOURTH WALL!

Who: EVERYONE literally anyone and everyone ever
What: the mingle log for the Ain't Nobody Got Time F'That event!
When: Days 464-466 ( June 15-20 )
Where: anywhere in the city!
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

June 15-16 / Day 464:
Not long after sunrise on Day 464, the air in the city will become briefly charged with magic. It will feel something like static electricity, hanging noticeably before dissipating suddenly a half-minute later. This will mark the beginning of the Visitor's Event! Starting then, characters old and new will begin to tumble into the city. They may appear anywhere there is room for them: in the middle of the street, on top of the Ferris Wheel in Hel's creepy amusement park, in the Comfort House, or ten feet in the air above the lake! Visitors may appear at any point during the duration of the event.

The city's natives will begin to usher them to the courtyard of the palace at the center of the city, where Freyr and the Welcoming Committee will have set up stations. This is where they will be given a bracelet to allow them to communicate with the network and reside safely in the city, provided with food and drink, and given camping supplies - basic tents and sleeping bags - if they choose to stay in the courtyard.

June 17-18 / Day 465:
A minute after midnight, all characters in the city - including the freshly arrived Visitors - may notice something a little odd: a soft, warm glow through their shirts, right at the center of their chests. The light will fade, but it isn't quite finished yet. Starting then, threads of light with that same gold glow will lead from their wrists, beginning as intangible bracelets of light and leading them with anyone they have a "connection" with; what exactly that "connection" is is up to you! It could be romantic interest, or simply belonging to the same world, or sharing a favourite colour. Anything is viable, and they can have "connections" with as many or as few people as you'd like. The closer they get to the person they are bound to, the more brilliant the light. Physical touch will stop the light, and will also bring a sense of something like completion, contentment. When characters close their eyes, the glow of the strings is a soft, gentle one, akin to a nightlight.

The lights are not permanent, and seem to flicker to life and back off again arbitrarily. Your character may have one connection at noon that splinters to fifteen later that afternoon, and then none at all that night. Not all connections will always be "on," and you are welcome to play with this at your discretion! Please note: They will only ever be formed as a result of feelings your character already has - they will not create new ones.

That night, in the Castle Courtyard, Freyr will build an enormous, contained bonfire beneath the Great Oak Tree Merlin planted during an earlier celebration. Things may be rationed, but modest snacks and drinks will still be provided. He will encourage storytelling, games and riddles, and a general welcoming, since who knows how long these new Visitors will be here for, right? Mellow gold lights in the same shade as the ties between the Travelers and Visitors, among other things, will decorate the area to give it a sense of warmth and peace.

June 19-20 / Day 466
Day 466 brings a gentle rain onto the city. Awnings and canopies will be set up in the castle courtyard for shelter, and the Welcoming Committee will continue to operate the bracelet and supply stations for any latecoming Visitors. That evening, a god will make a post to the network, giving notice that the Visitors will soon be sent home, so that people should say their goodbyes. After the given time, they will flicker and then disappear. The strings of light between people will begin to fade at this time as well, a gentle tapering off for a few hours until they are gone for good.

[ OOC NOTES: This is the mingle log for our second Fourth Wall Event! All rules and guidelines can be found on the information post; please do feel free to ask if you're unsure about anything. DAY 464
[ There are worse things to hallucinate, if you asked Daniel. There are worse places, worse dreams-- just a whole lot of "worse" compared to the sudden shift he's come to acquaint with the Animus pulling him from a session and realizing that the roof you'd been on (dead of winter, scarlet sunset, breathing in ice and feeling your face grow more and more numb) isn't even remotely like early 1900's Russia. That sensation is different than this, for one. The schism (a lot like vertigo) lasts for a few minutes before Daniel even comprehends he's not exactly laying in the Animus anymore, staring out over the quite different rooftops and streets. The whole thing half blurred together. And when it comes into focus? Well, Hel district is... something else. It's gut-wrenching. Somewhere unfamiliar. Not a safe space, like he's used to after sessions. Ignites that flight-or-fight tingling through his veins.

Needless to say, transporting worlds doesn't exactly do much for one's fragile view of the world. It was late October, last he could remember. But his memory tends to be faulty.

But he manages. At the beckoning of someone ( something?) in the street below, he drops down off the low roof easy-as-you-please. He's only half listening to them as they kind of explain things. If it's a dream, it'll end sooner or later. Daniel will chalk it up to that much when he wakes up. Any moment now.

For now, it's easy to find him meandering about the courtyard. Hands shoved deep into his jacket pockets, expression somewhere between mildly curious and rather irritated, if such a combination could ever exist. (He's not a healthy site to see: dark circles under his eyes, looking thin in the face, but difficult to tell under the bulk of his jacket and hoodie underneath, but the air around him is sick and note entirely friendly.) This world is two sides of crazy, but information gathering is still information gathering, still a good idea to get the walk through from everyone who knows best about these bracelet things and how all of that functions. Prepare for the best and worst. So don't worry. Daniel may not be the world's nicest guy deep down, but doesn't bite strangers unless they bite first.

If anyone, the very few who may have with a previous incarnation, has met him before? Asked if he'd been here before?

Nope. No recognition. Sorry. ]
DAY 465
[ Now this? This whole... light connection thing? Doesn't take the cake for how damn weird it is, but he has to admit, there is some curiosity to see where the other end goes.

Ever been close to death? Ever died? Someone he may have know? Generally just an ill-tempered chain smoker with a pension for general dislike of humanity as a whole despite telling other people the contrary? Well-- okay, maybe not that. Maybe there's a sympathetic soul on the other end. Who knows.

Point is, you're now "connected" to him, whatever that connection might be.

It's gonna be oodles of fun! Right?

Okay, no. Probably not. Good luck, you brave soul. ]
DAY 466
[ So. This is it, huh?

After this, it's back to late October. (Or was it early November? How much has time changed now?) After this, it's back to business as usual.

Oddly enough, he's feeling a bit of melancholy about the whole thing. Sometimes you get tired. Sometimes you get overtired. Sometimes you don't really want to go back to what you were doing before becoming a lovely Visitor amongst Asgard's population. For a whole lot of complicated reasons that one can't help but think about. The kind of thinking that has those dark circles seem a shade or four darker than before, wrinkles evident.

Daniel looks old, looks past his age, leaning on the support of an awning to block the rain that comes and goes. He looks old and tired and resigned: he is waiting. People are leaving. He's likely going to, too, and he finds that despite it all, this was more interesting than what was going on on good ol' Earth, pondering it as he plucks a cigarette from inside the breast pocket of his jacket, along with a lighter.

Brings it to his lips, lights it, inhales slowly.

Daniel wouldn't miss this place. Reality didn't feel like it so much went out for lunch as it did just on an endless drug trip (and not entirely the good kind), and he's both had enough of it just as much as it's been interesting. And as much as he'd rather be doing a million different things, up duty calls, as always.

He exhales it just as slowly, sending a long trail up into the wet hair. If you've got last words or want at least some parting conversation, go ahead. Daniel's feeling generous. ]

[Well, well. That's a face. Yeah, that about covers in all honesty. It's a face of a person and the person is one that has a face. Clay is sitting off to the side against a building people watching while he waits for Desmond to never come for him. It's okay though, he doesn't mind that really. Deletions cause things like no visitations.

They don't usually cause new levels of the Animus and a multitude of people from everywhere to exist in the same time and space.

Eyes glued to this particular face, Clay watches Daniel. He's not moving to go to him, to talk to him, to do anything with him at all. No, he's just...watching. A helluva lot of watching.]
nolonger: (I want a controlling interest)

[personal profile] nolonger 2014-06-18 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Kind of hard not to notice when eyes follow you around. Particularly that-- the sort people like Clay. Watching. The only reason Daniel pauses in the first place, frankly. (A sort of paranoia.) And his eyes meet Clay's just for a second.

There's a faint squint. A narrowing of eyes. Like he doesn't recognize that face. And he doesn't. Not personally, anyways. What? Working so close to Vidic and people don't expect him to snoop into the Animus Project? Hello, he was part of it. (Or is it "is", still?) No, eh doesn't know Clay's face personally, but he's an obsessive sort. He knows it through footage.

He knows it from the photos the clean up crew took after... well, after the delightful paintings Clay left behind.

No one ever listens to Daniel. He could have been the first to tell you when you're pushing someone three steps too far to the edge. He'd know.

Still, he brings a hand up to rub at tired eyes, put pressure at the bridge of his nose as if that would somehow make Clay no longer be a part of reality. Or what was currently the context of reality. He's not sure. He hasn't hallucinated other subjects before. When he looks again, Clay is still there. ]

Officially lost it. [ He says it to himself. ] Ready for this ride to stop any moment now.

The ride isn't going to come to a stop anytime soon.

[Clay leans in, getting right up into the guy's face. It's what he does now. Boundaries are a foreign concept he doesn't grasp anymore. Besides, he's convinced he's somehow trapped in the Animus and this is just another player.

Or a memory.

Or both.]

Welcome to Crazy Town. This is our final stop.
nolonger: (while I go down in flames)

[personal profile] nolonger 2014-06-21 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Been there, done that, still taking the pills for it.

[ He doesn't really seem to mind his space being invaded. Not outwardly. Outwardly, he gives Clay this mile-long, unimpressed, unblinking stare. Inwardly, he's debating pushing Clay. Preferably off a roof or something.

Daniel does not have all the patience he needs for this, man. ]
