[The handshake as well as the calluses remind Mariko more of Kaoru, now that she thinks of it. And that's a very good thing, since it's giving her confidence enough to speak up more freely.]

Ah yes, it was very eventful, as you say. In both bad and ways, too... [She shudders a little but makes an effort to remember what has been going on.] Bad, because we spent several days in the darkness and being hunted down by horrible beings! Good, because some beautiful persons later came to help us get back on our feet!

[If not for the gravity of the first statement, Diana would have laughed at the second. But, that was quite serious, and her expression matches it.]

Hunted? [It's a drastic change from the kind of things that tended to happen during her first stay, so she's concerned. Perhaps the war was truly beginning, or perhaps the Travelers were falling from the gods' favor... Neither was a good option.]

Can you tell me more about this darkness? What sort of beings were they?

All right, Diana-san. [It may not be easy for obvious reasons, but she'll try.] The people from here started to attack us in the night, chasing after whoever was in their reach with anything they had handy, as if it was an horror movie! The Freya district was a total mess, and I can't imagine what went on in others...

The people from here? You mean the native people, correct?

[She also reaches into her plain bag to pull out a leather notebook and pen to take notes.] Were many people hurt?

Yes, the native people. [She nods and folds her hands, sighing and doing her best to remember how it went.] I'm not sure about how many people got hurt, but I spent a good part of it around the Freya Hall and there were few of my fellow Freya members were around back then!

[She puts her hand to her chin in deep thought for a moment, since that's the first she's heard of the native residents ever trying to harm the Travelers. It's worrying, and she'll store it away to look into later. But she smiles, giving a small nod.]

That's good, at least. I take it that it was to act as a safehouse?

[She shakes her head.] Not really. Hisao-san told me that there was a shelter in another district, but since I stayed only around my Hall I cannot say anything about how it was like. Sorry about that, Diana-san!
