END OF ARC 1: DAY 169-170 DOWNTIME

[The first battle is over, but the second will begin any time. For two days, the enemy forces will remain on the other side of the battlefield, working on strategy and tending to their wounded. Both sides have taken heavy losses, and the Arena is full of the hurt and dying.

The battlefield itself has turned to a bloody, muddy mess. The elves will be asking the Army Engineers group and anyone else willing to help them lay timber and gravel out to make the ground easier to walk on for the next battle.

What will you do in your breathing space? Keep working, mourn your losses, or retreat from the horrors of war?]

[He won't ever admit how much it hurts to have Roxas look at him like that, so he gives him a confident smile, squeezing his shoulder.]

We're partners, right? We stick together. No matter what happens, I'll be with you. I'm not in a hurry to lose you again.

[ Roxas clenches his hands as his brow furrows--he recognizes that expression now, and not just from his time in Asgard ]

It....it happened before, when I thought--

Everyone was...annihilated. It said that, I remembered.

[freezes, not quite able to keep a brief look of shock off his face. From what he's been told nothing like that has happened here in Asgard before, so that could only mean-]

...But I wasn't, right?

[there's a cautious pause as he debates whether or not he should pursue this.]



What are you remembering, Roxas?

[faints]

I don't... I think--it was from before. I don't know. All I remember is not being able to think because my chest hurt. And I was told over and over you were all gone, and it was the worst feeling in the world.

[tenacityformed]

I won't let that happen this time. I'll stay with you until this whole thing is over.

[faints]

No matter what?

[tenacityformed]

Yeah. No matter what.

[faints]

[ I hope you're prepared to be hugged mister, because that's exactly when Roxas is going to stand up on his knees and throw his arms around you to do ): You really have nooo idea how badly he needed you here ]

[tenacityformed]

[he's prepared , wrapping his arms around Roxas tightly. There's not much he can do to alleviate his fears except to do whatever it takes to make good on that promise.]

I've got you.

[faints]

[ And for now this is alright. It's just the reassurance, the feel of Lea actually being there that Roxas needs; his hands will clutch at the taller's shirt and he'll sniff a bit, but he doesn't let him cry and just stays there for several long moments ]

[tenacityformed]

[isn't in a hurry to let him go, just as content to keep him close until Roxas is ready to pull away.]

[faints]

[ That might be a while :c but-- ]

For what?

For not being stronger.

Stop it. It'll come. You just gotta keep going.

But I want to be able to protect people... Why can't I do it? I know...I can feel it--I'm supposed to be different. better. Why can't I do that?

[tenacityformed]

You can. You got me out safe when I messed up, right?

It isn't an issue of better or worse, Roxas. You're already there, it's just gotta be uncovered.

[faints]

But how do I do that? Why can't...why can't I make the memories come faster??

[tenacityformed]

I don't think it's something that you can force, Roxas. It came back pretty easily when you were using the keyblade, didn't it?

[faints]

...Yeah. I kept seeing all this stuff in my head.

[tenacityformed]

...What kind of stuff?

[Lea is hoping that it wasn't anything bad - perhaps just beating up heartless on missions and something else fairly...routine.]

[faints]

...You were with me, in twilight Town. We were fighting Heartless, but for some reason my head didn't work well. I can't remember it very well.

[tenacityformed]

Your head didn't work well?

[that could mean...a number of things, but Lea's pretty sure he can guess what.]
