asgardmeridiem | END OF ARC 1: DAY 169-170 DOWNTIME

[The first battle is over, but the second will begin any time. For two days, the enemy forces will remain on the other side of the battlefield, working on strategy and tending to their wounded. Both sides have taken heavy losses, and the Arena is full of the hurt and dying.

The battlefield itself has turned to a bloody, muddy mess. The elves will be asking the Army Engineers group and anyone else willing to help them lay timber and gravel out to make the ground easier to walk on for the next battle.

What will you do in your breathing space? Keep working, mourn your losses, or retreat from the horrors of war?]

[Which is what a lot of them want.]

[ She quiet for a moment, staring at her plate, before she very lightly leans into his side. She's not putting any sustained pressure there- she's worried that he's injured- but she does lean there, just briefly. ]

I'm not ready for that.

[He's not too bothered by the motion or the touch. But he is quiet, thinking about things, like how far they come.]

...I don't think a lot of people are anymore.

It's kind of selfish, isn't it?

[ Her voice is thoughtful, quiet, and she pushes the plate at Riku again. Eat. ]

I'm just not ready to go.

[He stares at the plate for a good minute before taking something else.]

A little, but... it's not a bad kind of selfish. You stay one place long enough, and you grow bonds, attachments... It's not wrong to want that.

[Maybe not to this place, or the gods, but certainly the people.]

[ She rolls her head back a little, looking up at him, expression neutral. ]

We're friends.

[ It's not a question. ]

We are.

[He isn't taking it as a question, but he's not sure he wants to deal with talking about leaving this-- everyone, behind.]

[ She doesn't push it- instead just smiles up at him, expression gentle. ]

So what are we gonna do if we don't go home? I always meant to visit Utgard more.
