[Eight is quite used to it after all these years.]

I...ah... well, we don't usually have a towel in the Library, but I can see what I can find. Wait here a moment.

[Libraries often have a lost and found, right? Or a box where things that have been left around are stored. He digs around and, well, it's something. Not a very big towel, but it's dry and looks clean.]

This is the best I could find, I'm afraid.
historyrabbit: (grin φ Remember me for centuries)

[In Lavi's experience they often do, which can be a good thing if one...happens to forget one's eye-patch on purpose when a small child.

Lavi takes it with a grateful nod.]
Thanks, didn't think the storm out there was going to get as bad as it did. Started off as a drizzle.

The weather can be unpredictable, yes.

I'm called the Doctor, by the way. You must be new.
historyrabbit: (injured φ The darkness that you felt)

[Drying himself off with the towel.] I am, the name's Lavi. No other name apart from "Doctor"?

[He didn't ask "Doctor who?" at least? Then again, his mentor was just called Bookman, so it's not all that strange to him.]

Well, I could go by an alias, but...no. No other name.

[Frankly, he's used to being asked. A lot.]

Is there anything else you might want help with? I know it can be rather confusing when you first arrive in Asgard.
historyrabbit: (injured φ It doesn't matter)

[personal profile] historyrabbit 2014-03-24 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Gives a wry grin.] Aliases get a little confusing after the twentieth one or so.

Mostly I'm just looking for information that they don't hand out to new arrivals. History specifically, it's my job. On-going or has been, so long as it's the unopinionated truth.

Ah. Well...

[He turns and looks around himself.]

There is some to be found here, certainly. Especially if you search through the central chamber. After you've dried off, of course.

Problem is, anything in this library is what the "gods" want you to know. I haven't found anything outright false in the books, mind you, but if they don't want you to learn about it, you won't find a single book on the subject.
historyrabbit: (grin φ Just one mistake)

[personal profile] historyrabbit 2014-04-01 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
[The redhead nods.] My mentor was big on respecting books, even if they didn't always tell the truth. They still taught the basics of things.

[This too isn't new.] Sounds normal, rulers were often the same way, painting themselves in better light. Or trying to erase something from history all together. Maybe I'll find a way to get it out.

Yes, I do suppose you can read between the lines, if you know where to look.

[He shrugs.]

I've become used to Travellers these days coming in, expecting all the answers, and being very frustrated. I agree with finding answers, but it's a waste of time feeling betrayed when you don't get them. That's when you look harder, I say.
historyrabbit: (unsure φ No it's nothing wrong with me)

[personal profile] historyrabbit 2014-04-06 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Written word with a grain of salt. [Grins]

I don't do bitter, kind of trained against that. [Well, feelings period. But he still has them.] I think I'll be able to restrain myself.
beforethewar: (Bush14)

[personal profile] beforethewar 2014-04-08 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, excellent. Because bitter wouldn't get you anywhere anyway. They'd just ignore you and go about their godly day.

[Eight grins and shrugs.]

Well, I suppose you're dry enough. Just be careful of the older texts. Though I have a feeling you don't need that advice.
historyrabbit: (grin φ Just one mistake)

[personal profile] historyrabbit 2014-04-11 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think much in the life of mortals brings about the attention of gods. In the legends it was always a bad thing to get their attention anyway.

[Holds his hands up in surrender.] I'll try to at least contain myself long enough to be completely dry. And only touch those that have copies.

[aka the ones not in the inner sanctum. Just for right now.]
