EVENT MINGLE: AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR

DAY 555 (Dec 14-15)

As the last of the black ice is cleared from the city - and the last of its natives wake from their gray slumber - a cautious winter celebration begins. The city itself opens its doors wide to the allied forces still camped outside it and the natives invite the Travelers to observe the beginning of Winter and the approach of the end of the Asgardian year with them.

The day begins with what seems like a typical party in the streets. There is food, music, and an attitude of general warmth and hope from the Natives that hasn't been quite so present in a long time. It will be interrupted in the early afternoon by a snowball fight that starts in one sector of the city and quickly snowballs out of control. For a few hours, the city itself will become a veritable warzone, with most of the city's native children and adults alike getting in on the fight! Watch your back and take no prisoners. DAY 556 (Dec 16-17)

Day 556 sees a brief return to old - and maybe familiar - tricks. The festivities continue on outside, but some Travelers throughout the course of the day may find themselves influenced by magical impulse… all in the name of good holiday fun, of course.

The effects of these miniature curses will last anywhere between ten minutes and an hour and happen spontaneously, and most of them are echoes of similar curses that have been laid upon the city before. Travelers may find themselves:

• Unable to lie or actively compelled to blurt truths, consequences be damned
• Only able to communicate in poetry or song
• Given a nagging urge to (sincerely!) compliment anyone they come across
• Compelled to just hold hands with whoever they're near
• Caught under sprigs of magic mistletoe that seem to appear at arbitrary times at equally arbitrary places (though they can either be kissed or just wait a few minutes for it to disappear again)

Your character can be affected by as many and as often as you'd like, but none of them are mandatory. To reward the Travelers for putting up with that silliness one final time, they will find in their rooms that night a basket of chocolate, a horrendously ugly Christmas sweater, and one item from home. The item can be anything that fits within the game's technological and magical rules! If you'd like your character to receive something, please just drop a comment HERE to get it approved.

DAY 557 (Dec 18-19)

Day 557 marks the final day of celebration. That evening, twinkling, magical fairy lights will cover the edges of buildings and the branches of trees all over the city. There are light displays of amazing proportion all over the city, and the Welcome Halls are done up in entirely their signature color. the Travelers will be invited into the castle again for a ball much like the one last year. Thor will announce the end of curfew and tell everyone to party hard, because the hunt for both Surt and a way to heal the World Tree will begin after this.

The party will last until midnight, when everyone will be shuffled out into the courtyard for a brilliant fireworks display. It represents both the victory over Thiazi and the hope that the celebration of this coming new year will not be the last.

[Congratulations Eyes, you caught him by surprise.

Jerked upward with his mouth open, Ayumu practically sputters into the kiss, choking a little and unintentionally adding tongue to the sudden kiss. Of course, thanks to the surprise his first reaction once he's not gaping like a fish is to shove....

Hard, and none too gently in the abdomen.]

[The sudden addition of tongue would have been enough to make Eyes do the shoving, if Ayumu hadn't beaten him to it.

If he had only been caught by surprise that would have been fine, but Ayumu had the good fortune of striking his one guaranteed weak spot.

Hopefully the little brothers are prepared to have him practically fall atop of them, because he's going down.]

Hopefully Ayumu is ready for it, because he's closest and therefore going to have to bear the brunt of it. And if he goes down, Hizumi's probably going to end up knocking his knee hard on the ground as his arm is yanked.]

[Ayumu isn't exactly ready for it, considering Eyes had yanked him up into that kiss. But he really doesn't have much of a choice in the matter, and skinny as Eyes is, he's still heavy and tall enough to send the much shorter Ayumu falling back into the snow, landing hard on his rear even as he catches Eyes in an awkward hold.]

Hey....! Rutherford...!

[Did he hit him that hard....?]

[Nope, there is no response from Eyes whatsoever. In fact he might have looked like he was sleeping at a glance, if he weren't a few shades paler and with a faint look of pain lingering on his face.

He's not going to wake up in the next few minutes, at least.]

what did you do.]

Did you hit him in the ribs or somethin'?

[Or the missing rib, even, but we can't really talk about that here, now can we?]

I don't know.... maybe? I wasn't thinking when I did it. [He's honestly a little bewildered. The shove had been reactive, not planned on his part at all, and he pushes himself up slightly to get a better look at Eyes' face.]

Did I really hit him that hard? He doesn't look good....

Try healin' him? If that's even possible...

[He sounds dubious, but it could be worth a shot.]

I'll try.... [His lips thin a little as he reaches out his hand, touching Eyes' abdomen gently. Focusing, he lets out a breath, letting the healing magic this place had given him seep into Eyes.

He wasn't sure it would help any, but Hizumi was right, it was worth a shot.]

[It's not much, but Ayumu's efforts are somewhat rewarded when some of the colour returns to Eyes' complexion and his features relax a little. Of course being unconscious he can't say just how much it worked.

So he's just laying here.

Awkwardly. On top of Ayumu.

[Well now that Eyes is probably all fine and dandy--

Hizumi would like to hightail it if possible.]

I bet he'd be okay if we just left him here.

[Nice try, Hizumi.]

Not until he wakes up. We're not leaving him to freeze in the snow.

[HIS BRILLIANT PLAN, FOILED.]

He'll be fine.

[But he also realizes Ayumu's not going to take that for an answer, so he'll settle down cross-legged in the meantime.]

So what do you propose we do 'til then?

We wait. Unless you want to try carrying him? [In which case, they'd both need to carry him.]

[He hadn't meant to say that. His wide eyes probably say it all for him. If Hizumi hadn't been talking about the bonfire, he certainly would be now.]

It's admittedly pretty silly of Ayumu to assume he wouldn't be direct about it, though.]

[It's not just a fun way to pass the time, as light as his voice makes it sound. Despite the casual air, he's quite intent on Ayumu's reply, and it's not likely he'll let it go while he's got this chance.]

[Ugh. He'd reach up to cover his mouth, but one hand is still holding onto Eyes while the other was still latched onto Hizumi's by the damned curse.]

[Hizumi should be grateful Ayumu isn't going to just toss Eyes off of him for his dignity. Yet, anyway.]

[Yep, that's it, he's done. Eyes' unconscious body? Getting heaved onto Hizumi none too gently so he can have a hand to slap over his mouth, his face already aflame in humiliation, anger and the barest hints of vulnerability clear in what can be see of his expression.

His dignity is pretty much in ashes right now, but he'd be damned if he isn't going to be pretending otherwise.]
