EVENT LOG: FRIENDLY FIRE

A more in-depth explanation of the event can be found at the link above, with some examples of how powers might backfire! As Yggdrasil's core starts to rot and fester, the immortal beings that reflect her essence are feeling the effects ripple throughout them. This anomaly cripples the gods with the feeling of being wrenched out of their bodies, as though a schism is being driven through their physical being and their souls. The Travelerss tied to these souls will feel the schism manifest in their God Powers going haywire.

Day 402 (Feb 11-12)

A cacophony of screams tears through the city sometime before noon, seeming to originate from somewhere in Asgard's center. The force of the screams manifests physically, rattling through the streets like a gust of wind. The Travelers feel a brief flickering when their connections to their patron deities pauses.

When the connections are re-established just a few seconds later, there may be the unshakable feeling of something being off, even if that feeling is impossible to pinpoint. Immediately following this, all God Powers will be in a state of utter chaos; they will promptly begin to backfire - and badly - in countless and unpredictable ways.

Note: Virtually anything you can think of where their abilities work against them is free game. Powers can activate unintentionally, they can misfire and hit another person or the user themselves. It's free-game. If you aren't certain of whether or not your mishap is plausible, feel free to run it by us in the comments section below!

Also, if you would prefer your character not use their powers at all, this is also okay! But their powers will be corrupted if they are to use them, and they will still have that feeling of being wrong even if they don't.

Day 403 (Feb 13-14)

These power corruptions will continue all throughout the day until around nightfall, when Baldr will have had enough of the torment and will seek to do something about it. He can be seen seemingly floating above the castle as he stands on the invisible barrier and focuses his energy on the broken ties of magic between the gods and their Travellers.

For a solid minute, golden lines of dust that float on the air will be visible criss-crossing, tangling, and otherwise fraying all throughout the city. At the end of the minute, Baldr will give one shout of exertion and every line will abruptly pull taut; the Travellers will feel a tug at their cores, and that feeling of off will vanish. Their powers will return to regular function and Baldr will collapse for some serious R&R inside the castle. What exactly happened and how is uncertain, but as it's the second time to take place, it's about time to start worrying.

402- Hel House - open!

[After the incident with his brother coming back just two days ago, Sasuke has been in the foulest mood. He's basically holed himself up inside Hel's Welcome house, venturing out of his room only for things like food, or drink.

He hears the screams and feels something in soul waver, but can't bring himself to care enough at that point in time. Good, he thinks. Hel deserves it.

It isn't until he begins to move about his room that he realises something is off. The first step he takes causes him to fall face down onto the floor- move his right leg and the left takes a step instead.

It wears off a few minutes later, but repeats itself in random spurts throughout the day. That isn't all though- when walking through Hel's house he will find that his body manipulation power will randomly attach itself to passers by without him being aware. Lift an arm and it won't move- but the stranger across from him is suddenly staring at their own limb that appears to be moving of its own accord.

It continues to happen, becoming more and more frequent as time goes by and by early evening of day 402 he has shut himself back into his room, determined not to step out of it until whatever is wrong with him has been fixed.]

Brother.

[Itachi has barely learned to control the ability he was given, meaning there's not much he can do with it. Because of this, the backfire isn't as strong, but he's still sticking to the shadows to avoid casting one of his own. Like Sasuke, he's also been sticking to the Welcome House, meaning that it's not hard to run across the other ninja in the hall.

He's sure to announce his presence, so that he doesn't startle the other. Startling Sasuke shouldn't be an easy task, but if he's distracted by current complications things might be different.]

[Well that voice is certainly familiar. He turns slightly to greet his brother.]

..Itachi. [He would address him as his elder brother as usual, though it seems strange consider the reversal in ages they are now facing. It doesn't matter much for now though, there are more pressing matters on hand.]

The god-given powers are acting up, be warned. I can't control it.

I'm aware.

[He's checking over the other ninja carefully, looking for signs of injury or of stress.]

I did not ask you about what yours were. Are they different than mine?

[He is not injured in any way, just ticked off more than isial.]

I don't know, what did they give you this time? Mine is called body control.

[forthevillage]

Shadow manipulation.

[And with that said, his eyes stray down to the floor.] Like that of the Nara clan.

[sharingone]

[Sasuke nods, it was the easiest explanation for it, from what he had seen.]

This one would be more similar ton Yamanaka jutsu. You don't enter the mind though, just take control of the body via thought process. Usually. [It isn't working out so well today.]

Is there anything I can do to help you? To keep it from acting up on you?

[It's doubtful, but he feels the need to ask anyway.]

It seems to be something to do with our connection to the gods.

[He leans against the wall- while everything was working correctly, it was easier to just stay put.]

Someone came over earlier to try and heal it,but it backfired. I'm not sure what we can do.

[At Itachi's feet, his shadow, even blended into that of the wall, forms clawed hands that stretch to try and grab Sasuke's. He takes a few steps back to pull it away.]

... I am aware of the connection. Avoiding contact with others may be best for now.

[He sees the shadowed hands form, immediately taking a step back which turns into more of a stumble as one of his feet decides to simply not move. At least already being beside the wall prevented him from falling over.]

[He nods slightly in agreement though, being around people at this time is asking for trouble.]

I came out to get some things from the kitchen, I don't plan on staying out here.

[The stumble has Itachi concerned immediately. This would have been when his eyes would go red, had he still the use of his Sharingan.

It has to have something to do with his powers acting up. That could make sense, given that it was the control of others' bodies. He appeared to be fine otherwise.]

Would you like me to get it for you?

[Theres a minute of silent debate- self pride struggling against the fact that it would actually be a lot easier if someone simply went and got it for him. But since it's his brother:]

...If you think you can, without any trouble. My feet wont move properly right now.

[He nods, glancing in the direction of the kitchens.]

What did you need? Name it and I'll find it.

[From what he's seen, he can at least get any ingredients he wants from the table there.]

Just some water, and whatever food is on hand. [He wasn't planning to pick up much, just something quick to keep him going for the rest of the day.]

[Itachi nods. He wants to get his brother something decent, despite his request.

Tomatoes are an ingredient. He'll ask for those.]

I'll be back shortly.

Alright.

[He'll just... stay here. Maybe slide down to at least sit on the floor for a moment until he comes back, to try and stop anything stupid from happening.]

[Itachi watches him a moment, still concerned, before he moves off. He intends to be quick, so he doesn't leave Sasuke sitting in the hall for any longer than he has to.

Getting water and food shouldn't take long anyway, and it doesn't. Though being quick means he gathers items that don't need to be cooked, so salad and cheese and already prepared bread.

He returns with all the items in his arms.]

I'll carry them to your room for you. Is this alright?

[sharingone]

That's fine.

[If he tried it himself he'd probably end up spilling them on the floor anyway. He stands up straight, eyes closed as he moves arms and legs slightly to see what is working properly and what is not, before he takes a few small steps forward.

Okay, let's go.

[He wants to ask if Sasuke needs assistance, but with his hands full it would be difficult to help him. Perhaps he should run these to the room quickly and then return... but his brother seems to want to follow alongside him.

At last he nods and moves ahead of the other ninja down the hall.]

[Even if assistance would be easier he isn't likely to accept, especially when he can walk along the hallway just fine right now, albeit slowly. He's thankful the elevator, though he rarely uses it usually.]

What are you planning to do afterwards?

It may be best for me to stay in my room also. I wouldn't want to risk my shadow hurting others. It hasn't yet, thankfully.

[sharingone]

Yeah. At least mine can't outright attack people, at least from what I've seen so far.

It's problematic.

[He wants to keep closer to Sasuke, but he worries about doing that for the very reason they're discussing.]

We don't know the extent of the damage these powers could cause. Sakura was here earlier, and her attempt to use healing magic caused a reversal in abilities and her own skin to slice open.
