Day 415 (Mar. 9/10)
Not long after the message from the gods on the bracelets, all NPC shops in town will begin shutting down. It is late evening when the city's Natives begin heading toward Gefion Park, some alone, some clustered in small groups, but it seems like citizens of Asgard of all ages are headed that way. It is just before sunset when all of the gods and several thousand natives will stand grouped around the shore of the park's lake. Thor, looking oddly somber, will move to stand on a small podium, voice tight but magically amplified. His posture is straight, head held high, and he will cut a striking image as he speaks with a firm and magically amplified voice:

"We may be the gods of this realm, but we would be nothing without both of you: our people, and our visitors. Even in times of darkness, we mustn't allow ourselves to forget how brightly our lights can shine. In times of weakness and exhaustion, we only need cling to the memory of how strong we truly are. We will fight for the lost, and we will fight for each other. Until my father returns, I will act in his stead. We will continue to move ahead, if only because there is too much to lose if we don't. Salvation is within our grasp, and I will do everything I can to make sure we attain it."

Here Thor will clear his throat, pausing just long enough to wonder how apparent it is that Freyr wrote most of this speech.

"But now I invite you to lay your offerings into the longboats, offerings to the Natives of this world that have lost their lives in this war. Their sacrifices were not in vain, nor shall they be forgotten. In their names, we shall fight for Asgard, and for every world represented here, and for the countless that aren't."

The moment that the newly crowned Prince Regent stops speaking, Natives will place clothes and food and other trinkets inside the boat. Any Traveller with offerings will be given the chance to lay them in the boat then, before Hel sends it off to the center of the lake. It will stall there before bursting into bright flame. Smaller, match-sized flames will light all across the lake, one for every native soul that has left Asgard for Niflheim in the last two years, and they will not extinguish even in the light rainfall that begins into the evening.

After the flames are lit, however, the natives will be opening several dozen casks of different wines, meads, and ales. There will be bottles of harder liquors passed around and glasses given freely to anyone within arm's reach of a native. Time for a bonfire in the park! Anything is free game for this: there will be dancing, eating, body painting, the weaving of flowers into people's hair or into crowns, pretty much anything that is loose and vaguely intimate. The only thing that remains undisturbed is the lake, where the fires burn ceaselessly above the water. This is their farewell; they will drink, tell stories, and laugh their way all through the night.

Day 416 ( Mar. 11/12 )
The next morning, most of the natives will still be in the park, making sure none of that pesky alcohol remains in those barrels. They will take this second day to relax and clean up the park while they continue to drink, singing hymns and generally lending a hand to one another. Where yesterday was a big party, this is more like communal R&R. About halfway through the day, flowers of all types imaginable will begin to sprout from the ground. Many of them will sing along with the Native's hymns of remembrance, though they will linger after.

This is actually our Holes event for the month of March! These flowers will not just sprout at Gefion Park, however! When they first appear on Day 416, they will actually spring up just about everywhere, dirt or not. They may appear on a table, off a wall, or rooted in someone's freshly prepared sandwich. The flowers not in dirt will wilt after about a day. Following their first appearance, these flowers will continue to grow in the city anywhere flowers can grow.

Back at the party, however, everyone is on equal footing and gathered to respect their loved ones. For the time being, nothing else really matters.

They'll go back to their regularly scheduled monotony by sundown, the boat of offerings finally removed from the lake, though the candlelight flames will remain throughout the night and disappear by sunrise. In thanks for their support and continued sacrifice, the Travellers will find one gift from home in their rooms at midnight.

Who: EVERYONE still in Asgard
What: The Friendly Fire mingle log!
When: Days 402-403 (Feb. 11-14)
Where: Asgard city proper.
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

A more in-depth explanation of the event can be found at the link above, with some examples of how powers might backfire! As Yggdrasil's core starts to rot and fester, the immortal beings that reflect her essence are feeling the effects ripple throughout them. This anomaly cripples the gods with the feeling of being wrenched out of their bodies, as though a schism is being driven through their physical being and their souls. The Travelerss tied to these souls will feel the schism manifest in their God Powers going haywire.

Day 402 (Feb 11-12)
A cacophony of screams tears through the city sometime before noon, seeming to originate from somewhere in Asgard's center. The force of the screams manifests physically, rattling through the streets like a gust of wind. The Travelers feel a brief flickering when their connections to their patron deities pauses.

When the connections are re-established just a few seconds later, there may be the unshakable feeling of something being off, even if that feeling is impossible to pinpoint. Immediately following this, all God Powers will be in a state of utter chaos; they will promptly begin to backfire - and badly - in countless and unpredictable ways.

Note: Virtually anything you can think of where their abilities work against them is free game. Powers can activate unintentionally, they can misfire and hit another person or the user themselves. It's free-game. If you aren't certain of whether or not your mishap is plausible, feel free to run it by us in the comments section below!

Also, if you would prefer your character not use their powers at all, this is also okay! But their powers will be corrupted if they are to use them, and they will still have that feeling of being wrong even if they don't.

Day 403 (Feb 13-14)
These power corruptions will continue all throughout the day until around nightfall, when Baldr will have had enough of the torment and will seek to do something about it. He can be seen seemingly floating above the castle as he stands on the invisible barrier and focuses his energy on the broken ties of magic between the gods and their Travellers.

For a solid minute, golden lines of dust that float on the air will be visible criss-crossing, tangling, and otherwise fraying all throughout the city. At the end of the minute, Baldr will give one shout of exertion and every line will abruptly pull taut; the Travellers will feel a tug at their cores, and that feeling of off will vanish. Their powers will return to regular function and Baldr will collapse for some serious R&R inside the castle. What exactly happened and how is uncertain, but as it's the second time to take place, it's about time to start worrying.

Who: Everyone going to Alfheim
What: The mingle log for A Friend In Need
When: Days 387-390 ( Jan. 12-19 )
Where: Asgard, Alfheim, and the train ride inbetween
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

Day 387 ( Jan. 12/13 )
Before boarding the train around dawn, the leaders of the separate groups should run checks on everyone that's signed up. Natives will help dish out a simple weapon to those without their own that want one, medical supplies to the healers and a simple kit for everyone else, and a simple mask with strict instructions to put them on as soon as the kingdom is within sight. After everyone is geared up and boarded, Odin's spies will set out on horseback first, masks already in place, to clear the path ahead. This gives you a five hour train ride to go over strategies and coordinate with your fellow Travellers and the Asgard natives that have joined the ranks.

As the train crosses the halfway mark between Asgard and Alfheim, the dark black clouds of smoke and ash will sprawl across the horizon and thicken the air, prompting early placement of the gas masks as a precautionary measure. It's a short trip from there, and once the train has stopped, it's time to get to work. The homes and buildings of Alfheim will be in varying states of disarray and ruin, some still burning as the inhabitants and neighbours struggle to douse the flames. Others will be smouldering, successfully saved or otherwise left to burn itself out in the days since the initial attack. There will still be Fire Giants sparsely wreaking havoc amongst the living quarters, but the vast majority of the fighting will have been drawn into the treeline by the Elves to give room for relief efforts and any evacuation attempts. Homes and larger buildings still largely intact will have been turned into temporary hospital rooms or safe houses for the young and incapable of fighting, with the injured laid out anywhere there is room; the dead will be wrapped in sodden sheets in the alleys between buildings until they can be properly buried - if ever they should find the opportunity.

This leaves the Travellers to split up and jump head first into their tasks. The Elves will be pleasantly surprised and immensely grateful for the arrival of aid, but they will not spare much time to gratitude when the battle wages and every second counts. Those fighting will immediately accept the Travellers into their defence, and from there, they will begin to push back against the Giants' forces. At this point, it will be largely defensive combat, an attempt to keep the Giants from moving further into the kingdom and setting more to flames. Surt himself will be present in this, and a vast majority of those that try to stand against him will be met with a heavy hand. Move carefully, Travellers, for there is still fight left in these desperate Giants.

Day 388/389 ( Jan. 14-17 )
By early morning, just as the Sun is beginning to rise, the Travellers will receive some support from their patron deities back in Asgard. For the next two days, they will have their House Powers to give them that extra edge on the battlefield. Another surprise will arrive as well, as the trees themselves seem to move through the battlefield to push back the Giants. The Treepeople will have arrived, many of whom direct their efforts towards the support group to help control the flames while others exact their grief and anger on the enemy forces that still linger around. These beings are the oldest in Yggdrasil, second only to the immortals, and strongly resemble their respective forests, but they are strong and firmly rooted in the Mother's survival.

They will fight alongside the Travellers until they are cut down or the battle is won, which it seems it will be when the flames begin to significantly dwindle nearing sunrise on Day 389. From that point onward, those fighting for Alfheim will rise to the offence and the Giants will begin to fall back as their numbers lessen and their advantage wanes. They will begin fleeing the kingdom, leaving Surt with only his loyalists at his side - and against the might of the Travellers and the Elves emboldened by their allies' support, they few will not be enough to claim the entire kingdom.

Day 390 ( Jan. 18-19 )
The Travellers' House Powers will fade before sunrise, but between the combined strengths of them, the Elves, and the Treepeople, they will still quickly overpower Surt's remaining forces and send them scurrying back to their ruined kingdom of Muspellheim. Surt will leave weary and more furious than ever at his failure, but he knows too that to stand alone would be his downfall. The battle is won, but the damage has been great and there is little time for celebration. The Travellers will be given the most sincere gratitude from the people of Alfheim, and sent back home with packs of food and supplies to patch themselves up before they arrive back in Asgard as the loyal and true allies to Yggdrasil and her children.

Who: EVERYONE in the real Asgard
What: A House Divided mingle log for those in the real Asgard. The log for the mirror-Asgard is here.
When: Days 359 - Day 364 ( Nov. 19 - 30 )
Where: the real Asgard, all across the city
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

[ All through the morning of Day 359, things will seem largely as normal in the Holy City, aside from the murders occurring in various places across the districts. Small flocks of crows can be found hanging out in seemingly random places, either sitting around each other or flying in circles or other general bird business. They aren't terribly disruptive, unless their typical crowing is an unforgivable slight against you. Shooting or attacking the birds will kill them in a most peculiar way: they will shatter into shards of ice that immediately melt into the ground. Odd. By evening of the same day, all will still be as it should be on the surface, but those that look outside will see a bright blue beacon of light shooting into the clouds to the south of the city.

Doubly odd.

When the Travellers wake up the next morning ( Day 360 ), things will still seem the same but with a few missing masses. Some of your fellow Travellers seem to have vanished over the course of the evening. Have they gone home? Did they make another impromptu trip to hippie town? No one can say for sure, but it is certainly odd, and they say strange things come in threes, right?

Wrong! By the time the sun starts setting and shadows start covering the city, those very same shadows will take on a life of their own to swallow up yours. They will become wicked and monstrous, attempting to grab their Traveller and pull them down to the ground - and then through it to the mirror!verse. Loki posts to the network with a first person account that this is not the only place it's happening. Mirrors and other reflective surfaces will behave in the same way, with the Travellers' reflections twisting away from their original forms to pull those forms through the looking glass. This will not happen all at once but rather sporadically, and will continue to happen until Day 364 before the event's conclusion. The blue light can still be seen by evening, but the only answer it holds is that something is brewing in the direction of Thrymheim. Where is everyone going?

Things seem bad enough with people being outright sucked into gods-know-where, but everything changes when the Fire Nation attacks. On Day 361, a fleet from Muspellheim will descend upon the city and start attacking outright with no hint or notice that they might know what's already happening to the Travellers - because they don't. Surt's attack overlaps Thiazi's spell, and the combination of the two starts to pull at the seams. Somewhere in the city during the fighting, someone will stumble upon one of the mirrors that hosts Thiazi's spell. It will spill out to suck everyone nearby into the mirror!verse, including the Fire Giants. The light above Thrymheim is still glowing strong, but anyone paying close enough attention will see it flicker just the once before returning to full glow.

By the time Day 362 rolls around, things will be so chaotic that even Thiazi and Surt struggle to make sense of things. The Fire Giants in the city will continue to attack, though now more desperate and confused and growing moreso every time another mirror is broken and more people are lost to the mirror!verse. Something is quite visibly not right, a fact reinforced by the beacon of light flickering unstably at night as Thiazi's spell suffers under the strain.

Day 363 brings no good tidings to the state of things when Thiazi's Frost Giants descend upon the city - to attack the Fire Giants still roaming around. Travellers will be caught in the middle of an elemental dispute, though both eyes will be on them as an afterthought. Everyone is fighting everyone, more mirrors are breaking and sending more people into the mirror!verse, and in a last bid for a speedy resolution, the gods offer the Travellers a choice.

What could possibly be the thrilling conclusion to this epic clusterfuck? Only time will tell! ]

What: Look! A Masquerade! Festival log part two, for the masquerade. Part one can be found here.
When: Day 342 (Oct. 16-17th)
Where: The banquet hall and ballroom inside Gladsheim Palace.
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please.

[ On the fifth day of the festival, Travelers will be welcomed into the castle itself -- many for the first time since their arrival -- for a masquerade ball! Live ensembles will be providing music for people to dance to in the ballroom, and maidstaff outfitted in fancy clothing will be walking around and providing flutes of sweet champagne. (There will be food and an open bar in the banquet hall, as well as comfortable seats to rest, relax, and chat.)

The gods will be gods, however, and it won't stop at that. This is the last day of their epic party; at the stroke of midnight, a small curse will hit everyone inside the castle barrier and the Travellers will be compelled to kiss their dates! This can be their date-auction dates, whomever they're dancing with at the time, their secret crush, or even everyone they came to the party with. The gods aren't picky about what defines a "date" this time around, so go crazy and pucker up!

EDIT: ( Because we mods miss things too ) By the time the party starts dwindling down and people are ushered out of the castle, it will have started raining outside. It's nothing so heavy as to trap everyone indoors, but those without an umbrella or a coat may find themselves soaked before they reach home. Stick together and try to keep each other dry - or at the very least, warm! Honir and the castle maids will be handing out umbrellas at the door, but Loki will be cursing the vast majority of them to turn into paper as soon as water touches them. Sorry, not sorry.

Part one of the event can be found HERE. Please include your location in top-level comment of your subject line when starting a thread! If you want to request a certain god, feel free to ping them and we will do what we can. Otherwise, have fun, and as always - let us know if there's anything you need! ]

Those who arrive after the ice melts may notice that the city is very damaged in places. Windows are broken, some rooftops are sagging, and the Natives - gray and colorless alike - seem to be in a rebuilding phase. Asgard is very much alive, but will be limping along for a few days while it tends its wounds. Regardless, the Natives are as friendly as ever, and will treat anyone with a Traveler's bracelet on with deference and gratitude. The battle might not have been an incredible victory, but it wasn't a defeat, either.

What: Turning of the Tides
When: Days 303 - 307 ( July 31 - August 8 )
Where: At the heart of the city.
Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

(Edited to Add: There's a current EVENT LOG DIRECTORY here to make navigating the log easier!)

[ In the dead of night on Day 303 ( July 31 ), most people in the city will already be deep into sleep when a sudden crash rings throughout the city, the sound of a thousand glass windows shattering all at once breaking the silence of the evening. When the Travelers look outside to see what happened, the castle at the center of the city will be near completely hidden from view, the barrier surrounding the palace frozen over from what looks like a bomb of ice exploding over it. The ice is a bright, near-luminescent blue that spider-web crackles along the surface of the barrier and onto the ground surrounding it, spreading rapidly outwardly in all directions. Within a matter of minutes, the ice will have taken over the entirety of the castle and some of the surrounding buildings. Travelers are welcome to join panicked Natives as they run out in varying states of dress to hack and burn away at the ice in a feeble attempt to fight it back, but the magic furling the ice is strong and it will encroach upon the city at large by sunrise.

With Day 304 ( August 1 ) starting off on a high note, it will quickly become apparent that the city structures were not the only things under attack. A message of distress comes from Loki's bracelet right before the network as a whole is torn to pieces with a violent cry. Travelers will be wholly unable to access any facets of the network, including network posts and private contact posts. This leaves the Travelers very much disconnected as the ice continues a slow crawl towards the city gates. Travelers will have to spend the ensuing week in radio silence and old-fashioned communication methods as they combat Thiazi's attempt at taking over the city from within.

That is, of course, until she attempts taking over from without as well. On Day 305 ( August 3-4 ), a fleet of lesser Frost Giants will descend upon the city. They remember all too well when the Travelers managed to defile their own holy city, and they do not hold back in their retaliation. The battle against them will help generate heat and cause damage enough to fight back some of the ice, but it comes at the cost of fighting for your lives.

The attack will last until Day 307 ( August 7-8 ), at which point most every one of Thiazi's minions will have been killed or retreated. The Travelers don't have much breathing space to heal their injuries, however, as the ice still remains and though it is much slower in its crawl, it's still spreading across the city and there is no saying what might happen if it were to take over entirely.

It all comes to a head the evening of Day 307 ( August 8 ) when the palace, still covered in that thick, impenetrable layer of ice, suddenly bursts into flame. The fire is more golden than red, the heat of which can warm one's cheeks all the way to the city gates, though it feels no warmer than a nice summer's day regardless of proximity. When the fire dies down, all of the ice has been melted away, leaving dampened earth and an enraged king at the heart of Asgard. Something is changing, and the only thing anyone can say for certain is that this war is not yet over. ]

Who: EVERYONE
What: Somebody's Poisoned the Waterhole!
When: Days 296 - 298 ( July 16 - 21 )
Where: All across the city.
Rating: PG-13. Anything that might go higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!

[ The evening of Day 295 ( July 15 ), characters might go to sleep with a bit of a sore throat or an upset stomach. Something they ate, maybe, or perhaps they're coming down with something. Maybe a glass of water early the next morning will help clear it right up - or make it severely worsen. By the evening of Day 296 ( July 17 ), the poison in the water system will be spread throughout the entire city to affect anyone using the public water supply.

This can manifest however you'd like from wherever you'd like: indigestion from drinking tainted water, burns across your skin from bathing in tainted water, etc. The chemicals the spy dumped were random and imprecise and will affect people in several different ways to varying degrees of severity. Symptoms can take some time to manifest or appear immediately; they can be slightly inconvenient to near-fatal. Whatever you decide, people are getting sick and fast. The hospital and the clinic will have their hands full with trying to find a remedy as conditions spread and worsen through Day 297 ( July 18 - 19 ).

On Day 298 ( July 20 ), Heimdall will address the network with a rune to purify the water system. Travellers will have to help set up the arrays in various places all across the city and work together to activate this massive effort at reversing the spy's damage to the city. At the same time, three Travellers will be going after the spy himself before he can make a break for Utgard. A thread will be set up closed to Thor, Condesce, and Altair for them to play out their pursuit of the spy where everyone can see it. The decision of how to handle him is entirely in their hands, and they will bear the weight of that upon their return.

Everything should be returned to normal by the evening of Day 298 ( July 21 ) as the antidote is delivered across the city and the water system is completely purified. Reparations for the damages are up to you guys, but this event is sure to leave a sour taste in the mouths of many. ]

[ OOC NOTES: Get it? Sour taste? Because poison? Don't ever let me try to be humorous. This is the mingle log for the Somebody's Poisoned the Waterhole! event. A top level comment will be made for each district as well as the hospital, clinic and the closed thread for catching the spy. Please feel free to use these or make your own top levels with [OPEN/CLOSED] along with your time/location in the comment title. Let us know if you have any questions! ]
