EVENT LOG: SOMETHING OMINOUS, WEEKS THREE AND FOUR

Yggdrasil's collapse is reaching a fever pitch and bringing the decay right into the heart of Asgard. Those that remain in the Holy City for this month will struggle with disappearances, memory loss, memory gain, and other various horrible things. Every week will introduce a new feature for you guys to play with, and by the last week, all four will be occurring at random in one major clusterfuck centering around the idea of collapse.

Week Three: Days 446-449 / May 11-17
    Day 446 ( May 10/11 )
By this day, the memory loss will begin to worsen and start affecting canon memories as well. Your character may remember seeing their castmate in Asgard, but may not recall knowing them from home. They might lose memories of their childhood, or forget why it is they wanted to get back there. What exactly they forget is entirely up to you, but the recollection of their canon will become hazy if not outright blank.

This memory loss is not permanent and can return at random, either immediately or gradually, at any point throughout the month.

Starting during the past week, ghosts began appearing throughout Asgard's streets. The Travellers that have died during the opt-out event will return to Asgard as spectres that cannot speak, touch, or otherwise influence anything around them. Their spirits will be trapped between this world and the next; the living Travellers in Asgard will be able to see them, but they will not be able to hear anything the ghosts might say. Any Travellers inside Asgard that die will join them on the other side of the veil to be trapped there for the time being. These ghosts will continue to appear throughout the month as more of their company fall in Ginnungagap.

    Week Four: Days 450-452 / May 18-23
    • Day 450 ( May 18/19 ): Travellers begin having terrifying and painful nightmares whenever they fall asleep. These dreams are short-lived, easy to wake from, and immediately forgotten upon waking.
    • The volunteer opportunity for new characters takes place during this week. Sign-ups are by email and must be received by May 17.

THE LOG FOR WEEKS 1&2 IS LOCATED HERE.

447, night. Closed to Oberyn.

That night he remembers he's married and goes to look at himself in the mirror. The memory's a fight: her voice breaking, his back turned. He trusts it. Gingerly he touches the lines on his forehead and decides he loves her.

Why is he alone? The door opposite his never opens. In his own room the air is stale with thought.

He goes out, taking his coat and his flashlight. On the stairs he remembers a cab ride. The push-pull of their bodies, every inch between them an ache. Outside it's cool. He smokes a cigarette before cutting across the grass.

He walks slowly, the district's reds deepening into black. He doesn't stop until something drifts into his path, a person translucent and fine as rain. Dick switches on the flashlight and shines it through the ghost's eyes. His hands are steady. He's given up on recognition but this is different, a kind of conviction. “Hello,” he says, in the inflection used on a long-dead phone line. The mouth moves. Emphatically reshapes its words. He thinks he sees frustration contort the face and then it's gone.

Down the street, another ghostly shimmer. Before he can think he's running after it.

449

There's a man standing near Hel's shrine, loitering like a kid outside the liquor store. He wears a crisp white button-down shirt, no tie. His head's bowed; a comma of hair's fallen into his eyes. In his hands sits a pistol, muzzle tilted to the ground. He ejects the magazine, hefts it in his hand. Movements stiff but not fumbling.

"...you should be careful with that."

And there's a teenage girl, perhaps (certainly) nosier than she should be. Her expression is friendly but subdued; she's ran into a lot of people that she doesn't know and that she should this week, and those missing chunks of memory have been less than entirely fun to play with.

"I mean, not that it's any of my business or anything, oops. Still."

Oberyn, that night, began to remember that he had daughters. Eight of them, to be precise. But what were their names? Who were their mothers?

An interesting notion that he remembers that multiple mothers are involved, and not just one.

Eight daughters.

When he walks out of his room, back out onto the streets, he feels his mind being lost in the thoughts of his daughters. Vague shapes and faces is all they are to him, and it kills him knowing that he can't remember them. He knows deep in his heart that he loves them all, but how can he love all but a phantom?

A familiar face runs across his vision, tearing after a ghost. Now Oberyn chases the other, wondering just what exactly Don intends to do.
