What: the Good God, Y'all mingle log.

Rating: PG-13. Anything higher than that should be taken to a private log, please!
- Day 461 ( June 9/10 )
- When the Travellers wake up, they will find a message sent to every bracelet in the city:
As per the agreement between the gods and their Travellers, all persons within Asgard are humbly requested at the castle courtyard for enlistment in the Holy City's war efforts. Every individual is invited to find their resolve and seek out their purpose; this is the final stand in Ragnarok, and your help is needed now more than ever.
A friendly if not a touch formal invitation to what will essentially be Asgard's job fair! A mandatory job fair. This is why we can't have nice things.
Enlistment is mandatory! Please see your local officials for more information.
The castle courtyard and the streets leading into it will be crowded with bustling natives and several booths, not uncommon in appearance to the many festivals they've had over the last two years. This time, however, there is no music or celebration to be had. Everyone is hard at work organising their efforts for the war and doing their level best to assist in the transition. - Day 462 ( June 11/12 )
- The fair will continue for two days, to give everyone time to get down there and make their decisions. Anyone that hasn't signed up by the end of this day will be visited at home by a city rep and a few guards that will politely ask them to register for a group and weaponry if they plan to carry it. Refusal will land them in jail for the day, where they will still be politely asked to please, seriously, just pick something. Anything. Uncle Odin wants you.
At the end of the fair, there will be food and drinks to thank the Travellers for their support and cooperation. Throughout the entirety of the event and for the rest of their stay, the natives will be more reverent and grateful than ever than the Travellers have chosen to stay and fight at their side. They will do anything they can to help them win this war; this evening will be one of camaraderie and appreciation for the past, present, and future sacrifices to save the World Tree.

DAY 461
Hey, cowboy! No, wait, wait, gunslinger, right.
[He grinned as he walked over towards Roland, remembering the offense the man had taken at being referred to as a mere farmhand.]
You already signed up?
no subject
[It'd been drunken offense, nothing Roland can't tamp down during the sober light of day, but the detail slides the hint of a smile across his face nonetheless.]
I have. Just trying to get the lay of the land now. [AKA, be nosy as hell and creep on everyone until he knows what people are doing.] And yourself? Chosen yet?
no subject
Shooting people.
no subject
If it becomes necessary. I'd not be half so useful at something like Supply. Suits you though, I think. A worthwhile job to have in a city facing shortages, though it might make you enemies whenever you have to tell someone 'no'.
no subject
[Plus he also knew that he'd be able to keep an eye on her better than anyone else and know when she was pushing herself too far. Which she'd do. Stupid girl.]
no subject
[He frowns, a little guiltily. Roland'd said, hadn't he, that he'd help Stiles look after her the next time something happened. It's not the most guilt Roland's ever felt - bit difficult to do anything from as far out of the city as Ginungagap, after all - but he'd said it, and then hadn't done it. Having a reason, good or not, won't change that.]
no subject
[Yeah, go ahead, Roland. Say something.]
no subject
[...Yes. Now that it's mentioned, there was that post, wasn't there? Rachel'd seemed to have the situation well in hand, so Roland hadn't commented.]
I remember. And, ah, how's that going for you?
[The barest hint at a smile curls one corner of Roland's mouth. Is it a serious question? Yes. Absolutely. Of course it is.]
no subject
It's... uh. It's... hey, so... you and Fiona still all settled in with no problems?
no subject
Well settled. We've got chickens. Even a garden, once I finish planting it. You and Rachel should come over some time.
no subject
Yeah? You'd have to put the chickens away if I bring Hale. He might, ah... well, he is a dragon.

If that's the worst we have to eat, we'll be doing very well. How much do you know about running a city under supply shortages?
no subject
[Which is why he wanted Rachel with him, so he could monitor her power usage and make sure she didn't wear herself out.]
no subject
[Sorry, Stiles - Roland is assuming you don't have much experience with this sort of thing. With luck, his advice will come off as helpful rather than condescending.]
But if you do need to supplement supplies with powers, hopefully some'll join your group who have growth. Fiona's been doing a little of that with our garden; could be useful if supplies get too tight. Then people like Rachel won't get too overtaxed.
no subject
Yeah, well, people like Rachel need a babysitter. She has a habit of not really paying attention to how drained she is.

Not unless there's a rush on s'mores or something. Last time I wore myself out was trying to put out the fires out in Alfheim. I think I'm good. What about you? What's your, uh... specialty?
no subject
I help others with their own 'specialties'. Energy lending, I think they call it. Useful in its way, though it doesn't lend itself quite so well to showing off.
[He smiles a little, teasing, then changes the subject to something else he's curious about.]
Those s'mores were mentioned when Rusty talked of her bonfire. What are they?
no subject
[He shook his head in mock sympathy, but he wasn't going to not tell him.]
They're a sort of campfire treat since you need to roast marshmallows for it. Uh, you know what marshmallows are, right? The little white puffy things of sugary deliciousness? Yeah, you roast those and when they're nice and hot, you move them over to a graham cracker that has a piece of chocolate on it. Smoosh it in with another cracker over top to make a sort of cookie sandwich and then cram it in your mouth. Totally delicious.
no subject
This's an important food in your world? If someone can find enough chocolate for it, maybe you can show me at Rusty's bonfire if you're going.
[Stiles must be used to chocolate being common, if he speaks of it so casually, but Roland will be surprised if it doesn't become rarer as the shortages get worse. Still, no point in not enjoying it while it's available.]
no subject
Not so much important as... I guess sort of a campfire ritual. I mean, most kids who go camping have it at least once. It's just... it's a thing. And I'm sure we can find enough chocolate. I think I have a box of it stashed under my bed still.
[Rachel did like to doodle up her treats.]
no subject
Hoarding food. A good start to your efforts in supply coordination.
[Not that Roland honestly cares. That's what people do, especially during shortages. But there seem no shortage of things to tease Stiles about today.]
no subject
[Yet being the operative word.]
